In an attempt to broaden my horizons I resolved to continue my exploration of the Tier 2 Termas and the so called "Darkside"-the area in Centro north of Ave Pres Vargas.

Club 116,114.

My usual wingman has no interest in the favela urchins that I have developed a taste for and so declined to accompany me this given night, but I'm comfortable enough at this point to fly solo at least in the early evening. I have my uber drop me off at the Windsor Guanbara so I can walk a little bit and acclimate to the area before arriving at my target destination. It is a Friday night in Centro, approximately 19:00 hrs and very lively- bands playing, crowds gathering at outdoor tables to eat drink and be merry. It would appear that Centro Friday nights are a time of celebration at the end of the work week and the abandonment of the area by pedestrians does not occur until the following day.

I approach the doors of Club 116, 114 (R the Conceicao 116,114) which are two unguarded narrow openings in a building covered with graffiti in area adjacent to an empty lot with a constant ambient odor of feces. A red light flickers spasmodically in one of the doors, while a hypnagogic bluish glow adorns the other. I chose the left door to 116, and duck into a narrow passage that leads to a dark sequence of stairs. The floor is moist, possibly with urine or other substances, and I scurry like a rat to the top, turn left at the corner and take in a view of the club. Nobody up to this point, aside from the WG who tried to brush me aside to attend to her business, has even noticed my presence. The club is hot, humid, musty and crowded, filled with a raucous group of working-class Brazilian men and a handful of girls that hang on their arms intoning vulgar suggestions into the ears of their intoxicated companions. It is a tough looking scene and although I don't get any glares or necessarily feel out of place, I calculate immediately that my success rate here procuring and sessioning satisfactorily will be very low. Nevertheless I pause for a moment to take it- the mood an inversion of the manicured safety and upmarket hustle in the Copa Tourist Termas. It's worth coming back, but I would only do so on a weekday at an earlier time. Club 114 is similar but not quite as crowded, the interior theécor seemed to be scattered around as if some drunk partygoers had a laugh re-arranging the furniture in odd places or perhaps displaced by sudden gusts of wind from a phantom tornado. It looks like trash or debris is piled in one corner.

Terma 81.

I'm familiar with the area now, so the walk to are the Quitanda, 81 does not take long, but where on the map and in google street view Terma 81 should be, there is nothing. This Terma either no longer exists, is temporarily closed, or does not open on Fridays. Other mongers can advise.

Club 21 de Lux.

Is located in a narrow alleyway off of are Buenos Aires 21 called Beco das Cancelas or something similar. The two guys give me a funny look and say something in Porto that I don't understand as I enter and head up the stairs where a similarly befuddled man at the desks says something again in Porto I do not understand, repeating the word for man (Homem). Peeking into the Boate I gather very quickly that there are no mulheres on the premises and that "apenas homens" means that this club is either now a Gay club, or perhaps Friday night is Gay night. The attendant and door guys have a laugh as I make my retreat. Funny, the existing website for the club appeared hetero- but of course things change quickly.

Terma 502.

I lick my wounds and head to 502 where I run into a young mulatta I had sessioned with earlier in the week, not the one with the smelly hair, a cleaner nicer girl- but not quite as pretty. She was happy to see me, but not wanting to get in a rut, I was reluctant to indulge her and had my first beer of the evening to consider my options- finally deciding a quick dash to Whiskeria 65 would do no harm. The damage at the door after 1 beer is a measly 25. Well worth it for a look.

Terma 65.

It should be noted that 502 and 65 are both robe optional clubs (street clothes ok) which makes it really easy to duck in and out for recon purposes. Terma 65 also has a rotating stable of freelancers so you will get a different group of ladies just about every single night, which makes it great for repeats. Tonight was no exception and I was pleased at the number of new faces but found it hard to operate in the crowded boate. Again it seemed as if Friday is the night that the locals really fill up the place, and so the ratio was not great.

Nursing a beer down in the lounge I'm eventually approached by a super cute young lady of 19 years who had just arrived in Rio 3 days prior from Vitoria in Espirito Santo. She was a bit nervous about everything, but so, so cute, pretty smile, glasses, tight sexy body, young and fresh and when she started making out with me I knew it was on. She was not my usual spinner type, but agreed to my requests and so we headed to the cabine where she provided a fantastic session again with very passionate kissing, DATY, a couple of positions, BBBJ with COF and CIM at the end. Lots of talent especially at around 22:30 hrs although it's hit or miss. Some of the girls are asking 400 but can be easily coaxed down to 300 or even 250/200 if they are not picked off too soon. I saw one of my regulars there who is trying to make a ton of money before she heads back home to her rural city and don't care much to be a part of her work marathon so declined her invitations. My buddy found a girl to his liking, and since I didn't need to pop again, I headed home.

Next time I will try 116 at a different day / time and investigate MV30 and possibly Florida After. It appears that Terma Aquarius has closed and I'm not even certain about the other two, but only one way to know for sure.

The girls are providing their services with no strings, no coercion. The girls probably can quit anytime they want. Although, they have to follow the rules of the management while they are working there.

Just to clarify. Clinicas and privées are not illegal if they just offers massage. They are not allowed to offer sexual services. Some clinicas makes some effort to look like they are legitimit massage places. They have massage benches, burn incense etc. If you look on the inside of all the f*ck rooms at Belprazer, Dudas etc they have signs telling it's prohibited to have sex in the rooms. In reality they do offers sex (there are a few clinicas that actually only offers massage and HJ).

The girls doesn't rent the rooms. They work for the privées. Normally the privê takes half of what is charged for the sessions. The privées have different rules, but many privées will fine the girls if they don't show up for work.

I'm sorry sir but it doesn't take much research to prove you are wrong. Most of the clinicas, prives, and termas are illegal. They are tolerated and allowed to operate but they remain illegal. Some boates depending on the setup are legal. The most successful of the venues pay bribes to the police in order operate. I've never witnessed or heard of a customer having an issue because I don't believe he is doing anything illegal it's the owner operators of the establishments that are breaking the law. I'm not trying to put a damper on anyone's pleasure and I still go to Brazil and enjoy all of the venues but I don't like false information being posted.

If we have any Brazilian attorneys on the board your input would be appreciated.

It's hard to imagine a scenario where a simple google search doesn't reveal this as obvious ball busting, but I suppose there is a faint and dim possibility where someone actually follows through and books accommodations. Somehow. In Rocinha, and ends up in serious trouble as a result. And in that case I accept the critique. Until then, lighten up.

I'm sorry, I didn't understand it was a joke. Regarding accommodation, it's actually popular among backpackers to stay in hostels in the favelas so that part was believable. Looking for cheap street hookers in Rocinha would be unhealthy but I'm sure some gringos actually tries that.

Had an awesome time so far in my return to Rio after a 15 year absence. Met a gorgeous Brazilian on the plane which got me in the mood as I hit boots on ground. Staying in Copa near Djalma Ulrich where Help used to be. 4 x4 remodel is nice but doesn't feel like 4 x4. It's smaller now like Lions was. Gone is the fire pole that girls took to lower level whiskeria. Talent level is really nice but less girls overall, but still good since customer levels also down. So far, 3 excellent choices in Penelope (tall white 18 yoga blonde), Nadine and Livia (dark skinned brunettes). Also, spent a 1-hour session with Vitoria at Onix, the best session I have had so far.
