I've been going back and forth between Boca Chica (I atleast wanted to be near a beach) and going back to Bogota. I just pulled the trigger for tickets back to Bogota.

What is the difference if you can only be at the beach (or outside for that matter) before 3 pm? You can always make a side trip here to Santa Marta or to Cartagena (or take a chick to San Andres if you want a superb beach.) Even though you do get kicked off the beach here at 6, but at least you don't have to go in at the kicked off beach hour like you are on punishment as you would in Boca Chica.

Going on a mongering holiday / vacation mid August (after my second Covid jab) and if I can't get into Brazil, my next choice is Colombia and I'm edging towards Bogota rather than Medellin.

I prefer the colder weather, it's much easier to get to from where I live and looks like it will be cheaper overall. The one thing putting me off is the dreaded knock on the door. I take medication that makes me last a while and would need closer to 30 minutes than 10.

Is it easy to arrange this with the ST hotels if you pay extra, even double or will they still try to rush you out?

There, the early knock shouldn't happen. In Medellin Santa Cruz, the second ST hotel on Calle 51 west of Carrera 53 is good. In Bogota Santa Fe, Residencias Villa Real is good. It might be a few pesos more. But it's clean. And they allow in Venezuelans. Even the girls think it's a nice one.
