    Dear all,

I am going to thailand for a job interview and will have to select the hotel in which I have to stay on my own.

I will be reimbursed by the co. I am goign to be interviewed by.

I need advice about some things.

    1) I dont want to be in a hotel which is too famous for mongering

    2) Since they have left it to me to select a hotel but have not specified any price limit, I am in a bit of a quandry as to where should I draw the line at in terms of price. So that they dont feel ripped off. I mean in terms of reasonableness.

    3) is it common practice in thailand to let subjects choose their own place of accomodation or this is an odd one out. Because this is a very big thai co. I am talking about.

    4) Last is if there are any guidelines I should follow in the interview (any tips like how humble should i behave and stuff like that) am a little looped out. Any tips on salary negotiation will be welcome (I belong to the IT field and posses a masters in the same my designation will be something like project co-ordinator on the management side of business)

    5) I have read the previous posts but am not being able to make a decision since my context is a little diffrent from the usual requirements of brothers coming to thailand hence this explicit request for info regarding hotels.

Thank You in advance all of you who repsond.

Thank you so much all of you.

EDITOR's NOTE: Posting of this report was delayed pending revisions to remove the forced hard returns in the text.

For those of you who may not be familiar with this concept, a "hard return" is created when you press the "enter" key while typing, thus artificially shortening the length of the text by forcing it to begin on the next line. Hard returns are also caused by some word processing and email programs.

More preferable would be a "soft return" wherein the text is allowed to continue automatically on the next line when it reaches the right side of the screen thus automatically adjusting to the varying width of each viewer's screen.

If your reports are being composed in a word processing or email program that is artificially inserting hard returns in the text, then please consider composing your Forum reports in another program or in the Forum's "Add New Report" window.

To avoid delays in future reports, please consider composing your report in the Forum or in a word processing program that does not insert hard returns in the text. Thanks!

    Hi guys,

I'm heading to BKK 8/13. Is Presidentsolitaure sill gf? How far from Nana is it located? Are there any other hotels with similiar ratings, pool, club near or closer to Nana?

EDITOR's NOTE: Posting of this report was delayed pending revisions to add standard capitalization and punctuation. To avoid delays in future reports, please refrain from using the "chat room" style of writing with no caps or punctuation. Thanks!

Anyone had an experience at Drop Inn Hotel, Bangkok?

    Thanks Jimmy,

I booked a single deluxe at Majestic and I suppose if there's any problems I can try renegotiate my reservations. Maybe make a stink about it and see if they'll cave but I've heard that's not the best course of action in Thailand.

    Night Spotting,

The thing you have to remember is that not all hotels are "girl friendly"---that is not to say they wont let you take a girl to your room but they will charge a fee---even if you have booked into a double room. This is a scam to get more money out of you so make sure you stay in a girl friendly hotel such as the majestic suites on Sukhumvit Rd. A single room will not be that much cheaper than a double.

Take care at the Penthouse Hotel in Pattaya.

It is 100% dedicated to providing facilities for fucking, which is great, but it is also 100% dedicated to getting the punter to spend money.

All around the rooms there are little gifts for you to buy at highly inflated (aka US Hotel Mini-Bar) prices. That's not an issue if you keep your hands off but with the wrong girl it can get real expensive.

Hank Stram, you were looking for a hotel near the airport a week ago.

I came accross this , thought it might help

Are the Westin(s) and/or Sheraton girl friendly?

    Yes.

The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is very friendly. No problems and when you walk in off of the street using the Riva's entrance you bypass the lobby upstairs.

If you have made a wise choice in women, the elevator guy will give you his approval with a thumbs up as the doors close.

Majestic Suites, is a great place to stay, smaller, personal hotel, but there is no pool here. It is located very nicely in the center of all the action.

    TANG~!

I forgot to tell you. If you book the Residence Gardens through http://www.pattayapages.com you can get booked for 1350 baht per night.

Please not the Penthouse is in Pattaya, not Bangkok.

I have stayed at the Penthouse Hotel five times. The first two times they were great. Apart from the bugs that is. The last three times they did not treat me so well.

On my third stay when I checked in I went up to my room and found out I had been downgraded in room class. When I went down to the desk and asked what was going on I was lied to. Only when I pulled out copies of the emails the woman in charge of the front desk admit that they had put me in a lower room class. After a lot of discussion they agreed to move me to the correct class of room the next morning.

On my fourth stay the same thing happened, but at least they told me at the desk as I checked in (but only because I asked) and they promised that it would not happen again.

On my fifth stay (November 2003) the same as the fourth, except that they did not know when they would have a premier room available for me. The owner (I believe he is Australian) was sitting off in the brunch area and I had a short chat with him about the situation. He agreed that they would upgrade my room for the first night. We shook hands on this agreement and he walked back to the front desk. He talked to the woman running the front desk in Thai and then it was back to the same thing. When I asked for a taxi and was taking my bags out the door with the woman yelling at me that I had not paid them for the taxi from the airport (they had my credit card number and faxed signature on a form authorizing them to charge it to my credit card) that they came up with check into this room and we will move you this evening.

You can't beat the location. Their prices are reasonable. Their bar has good pool playing and decent girls. Their breakfasts are good. Unless you are right over the bar the rooms are quiet. However, the bugs have gotten worse every year. I used to recommend them to everyone, now I recommend that you stay elsewhere.

I now stay at the Residence Gardens, the location isn't as good, but all of the rooms are mini suites, there is a pool and they have room safes. The restaurant is much better.

Have a look at their website

humpy - go into the search section and look for "Penthouse" and "Pattaya". Several posts about penthouse there. (Some others might encourage me to write "RTFF" - but it's easier to just tell you where to look - since it is in PATTAYA and PATTAYA HOTELS - but the hotel section is relatively "new" so there are more posts in the Pattaya section - dating back a couple of years at least)
