Got in late last night. Flights were running on time, mostly. For those off you keeping track, Spirit is melting down this week so if you have a 'bare fare' booked you might be moved and cancelled. Slept poorly. Glad to see that the curfew is finally moving later and later. Talking to an acquaintance last night who was just in STI, sounds like it's masks and social distancing during the day and the clubs are rocking at night.

Decided to walk down to Villar Hermanos for some chicken, rice, and etc. Saw a gal screaming and taking a dump in a 5 gal drywall bucket. And pulled 4 street hustlers. "No, I don't need an escort to blah blah blah. I'm fine. No. No. Go away. " Chicken was good, the line was wrapped around the inside of the restaurant. Took forever, but highly recommended. Because I don't care, also went and won my tip money for the week at the casino on 50/50 roulette in about 20 min. (Did you ever notice that when you care about the result of the bet, you always lose. When you don't mind throwing down 1000 p in the machine you win?) Only decent looking gal, to my eye, in the whole place was working the front desk.

What I figured out going for my walk today was I need to find a guy. A contact. Not some dude street hustling, but someone reliable. These folks around here are so uncourteous and think of nobody but themselves.

Damn if Constanza does not have the most beautiful women that I have seen in DR. If it was not for going through all those damn mountains then I would go there more often. This is the non-pro that I was with.

I feel the lack of courtesy is primarily due to lack of driving education and enforcement. After all, it is the third world. Even in Europe you would find often times, cars chasing you out of the fast lane, by coming at a breakneck speed well over the speed limit and with lights flashing.

I thought on my feet, unlike when he first asked me. .

Haha, I had the same experience. I was concerned for a moment that they required a negv test result. But no. I did my test and it was free and negative. Quite nice to know. . There wasn't a queue for me.

Mf. What was I thinking? I am not new around here. He told me to get out of that line and go to the line that was across from that for covid testing. There were like 4 people in line in front of me. Not that it was taking a long time, but the people in the temperature line were going to have the immigration line backed up by the time I finished this BS.

I thought on my feet, unlike when he first asked me. When a group of people came by, I just stepped to the right and blended in with them, walking to immigration. Fuck all that other BS. This is DR. So make sure you have some kind of paper to flash when you get asked.

Nothing much to add to the collective knowledge on this trip, other than along the Malecon the street hustlers are out in full force. I'm taking this as a sign that things are coming back.

Middle of the night arrival and late night departure, so most of my time was spent (alone) in bed. But, I decided to take a walk along the Malecon to maybe grab a quick meal and see how the city is as I haven't been in town for a couple of months.

Hit the Jaragua Casino and the smaller one next door. Afternoon scene was dead. Turned around to head east to Villar Hermanos and somehow pulled every damn street hustler out here. I know that I look and dress like a rube, so I expect a bit of that. But, today it was full force. Between that and the shitty air quality along the water. Wind shifts, went home empty handed to an empty hand. I'm doing a few more random days like this next month, was hoping for a better afternoon scene.
