What is the quickest way to get back into US without standing in 3 hour lines? I'd like to go more often but this is discouraging.

Made it to Tijuana today. Showed Mexican customs my printed FMM. The lady stamped it, checked my passport, and let me through without even asking me a single question like why I was visiting Mexico (which I think I've been asked on every other trip I've ever made). She was talking to a co-worker though and seemed distracted. I think I could've even walked through the Mexican Nationals line without stopping to get my passport checked as literally no one was paying attention or keeping guard at the time.

For whatever reason my international data connection is always shoddy at the border so couldn't call Uber. Had to catch a taxi. As soon as I got closer to the Zona, my data connection picked up just fine. Not sure why that always happens. Will say my international connection (Sprint) works great in like 90% of the spots I've been to in Tijuana.

Dang Artist. Those are a hell of set of memories from the past! I wish some documentary captured the NY experience better but the reality is film can't capture but only a small perception of what it's like. In comparison if you were shooting video clips inside HongKong at 10 pm on a Saturday night. Film just isn't dimensional enough to grasp even a quarter of the feeling. The memories that are seared into my brain from just being down there over the last 3 years will be there at least till I loose my mind. Just a magical place.

I used to go to 42nd street in 93, for few years. Back then just walking into strip clubs was a high. Almost same experience as now with Tijuana minus sex for me anyway. . The open drug trafficking, the numerous hustlers all over, the black 'military' on the streets, guys overdosing right before your eyes, hookers all over the place following you, pulling at your arm, the garbage on the streets, portable ghetto blasters on the move every which way you turn, young old male female street dwellers some in the most appalling dirty and tattered clothes. My goodness the sights, the sounds, the smells. I find it so strange not seeing at least a documentary that shows this. There must be because I saw videographers at work albeit in the daytime when things were a bit tamer. Nevertheless, I much prefer the 1970's NYC to the present.

Seems foolish to go back to a place where they cheated & beat your friend.

He had been drinking heavily but that is no excuse. He was cheated and acted capriciously. We had both been regular customers to that establishment so perhaps that is why he was not harmed more. These guys have good memories so they looked at me with some amount of circumspection when I visited some time after. I was cheated worst than my brother at another brothel but I just complained to the management, they took her side and I left with my tail between my legs, never to return for some time. Generally, the ladies gave great service with lots of humorous conversation and laughter.

Technically, the FMM is only good for one entry / exit. If you fly into and out of Mexico they will make you get one when entering, and they will take it before you board the plane for home.

However, Mexicans are nothing if not pragmatic. There is no way to make everybody exiting at San Ysidro surrender their FMMs. And if there were, the lines would be horrendous. The same goes for entry. So, they let you keep your FMM when coming and going across the land border. At least for SY and Otay. I've never crossed with an FMM at any other crossing. Maybe others can comment on Mexicali, or El Paso, or Los Algodones.

I bet they would make us buy a separate FMM for other than Otay since there is a form field for what entry crossing it is valid for.

My wingmen, without SENTRI or GE, have been crossing back in pedestrian lanes after midnight and usually had no wait, may be 5 to 10 minutes max, but a Saturday night had a long line back to the park, costing may be 2 hours.

One crossed back at 3 AM Monday morning last week (late night Sunday) and had a 2-hour wait. People going to work or school early morning on week day. Definitely should cross before 2 AM weekday.
