I was in jarabacoa. Right now it's the low season, didn't see a single tourist. I climbed El Mogote. It's around 5000 feet at the summit. A steep climb near the top. If you go this time of year, you'll have the whole place to yourself. Make sure you bring a lot of water. I also highly recommend checking out Salto jumenoa, that's an incredibly impressive waterfall. These were all done as a series of day trips. Just ask a moto driver about hikes and waterfalls, and they'll hook you up. Great place to take a girl if you hit it off with one.

Thanks for the tip about the waterfall. It appears to be in the center of the country. Did it take you a long time to get there from Sosua?

I already know apartment in Sosua are a rip off. However I was checking in Puerto Plata yesterday. There is low inventory and the are just as overpriced as SOSUA!

I have been living in Puerto Plata for the past 15 years. General consensus among both locals and visitors is that it is significantly cheaper than Sosua. My present apartment costs me US$150 per month (large salon / kitchen, two large bedrooms). Local contacts are best, otherwise cruise the streets looking for 'for rent' signs. If you go through agencies you will pay 50% more.

The Dominicans are good, but get yourself a super dark skinned Haitian and they'll treat you like a king. At least that's been my experience so far.

Of course. The Haitians are refugees and are out to make all the money they can. They are playing it for survival. The Dominicans are on their home field, so they can just give bad service or rip you off and go home to their family. It is the same thing in Colombia with the Venezuelan refugees. Scams with the home team and great service from the hungry visitors.

Day or night plenty of girls to choose from. I've been going to the beach during the day and Pedro clisante around 8 pm. Three weeks in and still haven't paid more than 2000 pesos. Haven't been to any of the bars, there's a perfectly good selection outside. No need to collect numbers, just treat it like a supermarket of girls. Every evening I go out shopping. The Haitian girls are far superior to the Dominicans in appearance, booty, and attitude. They'll walk with you back to the hotel, while the lazy Dominicans want a moto ride. Plus they're better in the sack. I even took a four day trip up to the mountains and one Haitian girl wanted to go with me. I told her I'd pay for her meals and obviously she would stay with me in the hotel, but I told her I wasn't paying anything else. She said no problem. When I got back she never asked for anything. She says she loves to just stare at my green eyes, ha. The Dominicans are good, but get yourself a super dark skinned Haitian and they'll treat you like a king. I am going to check out Santiago next week and a felt of quality & price of apartments there. I almost ready to take country off the list to retire too! (1) low quality women at least in Sosua. Do they use MS Outlook in your company? If so, can you redirect emails to your phone too?

Install the mobile teams and outlook on your phone, and log in with your company account. My company allows us to install those apps on our personal phones.

You are definitely a sosua die heart and that's cool.

I just think that people should understand that every place in the world is being affected by covid19. Anybody who just want to monger should do it because delaying trips is also what killing the prices. People just need to go somewhere DR, Brazil, Columbia, Thailand etc.

I am definitely considering Cartagena for one of my next trips. The only reason I went with sosua on my last trip is I got tired of looking for girl friendly airbnbs or hotels. Since the number of days I can monger every year are limited, I just go with convience and ease. Sosua was great since I didn't burn any of my time off.

I use Microsoft Teams on my laptop which works great at both sosua inn and case valeria. Even at Bailes at the bar the internet was good. I only need my laptop and good headphones. For videos I used a picture background. I didn't bring my laptop to the beach. At the beach I just used my phone to read emails and chats. But if you have an unexpected call and you are at the beach, you should be able to be back to your hotel in 5 to 10 min.

Yes beach action is probably down 75%. It is mostly locals right now.
I personally didn't see any girls being stopped. I wonder if that's the reason why girls hang out at Bailes now.

In the last six months I've been to Cartagena, Bogota, Medellin, Cali, Sosua, and Boca chica. None of those places are 10 times better than the other. IMHO Cartagena is on the rise as the new or alternate Sosua. I thought I was in Classico Saturday night at club delirium. That's not including club space which is for the less hip-hop club scene.

Due to their harassment by the police; The Chicas are limited on how they can move around in Sosua. In Cartagena Colombia prostitution is excepted as a part of the culture. There are more independent chicas available in Cartagena than currently accessible in Sosua.

I'm not totally against the Sue. It gave me the best first time experience of all cities. However I am observing one area dissolving quickly and another area climbing fast.

Sosua has really changed even over this last year when I was here. Most clubs are empty at night! The action on the beach is down around 75%. Police almost every night are rounding up girls to sit in the plenty box overnight. I personally don't understand what are achieving. It was bad last year, however it is worse now even though the shorten curfew hours. I am really having second thoughts about moving here next year when I retire!

I was there about a month ago and the clubs were packed on weekends and decent during the week. The casino at playa chiquita and in town were both opened, and both closed at 2 am. I didn't even feel the curfew frankly. And the police doesn't even bother tourists. One time I got back at 4 am. The police stopped my driver and when he saw I was a tourist they just let us go.

I personally didn't see any girls being stopped. I wonder if that's the reason why girls hang out at Bailes now.
