I too have loaned money. However, I have learned the hard way long ago that expecting repayment for either 1) cash handed to a pinoy; or 2) a promise made by a girl on the internet, rarely see any return.

However, documented loans on paper have a higher return percentage. Possibly even 50%, which in itself is crappy, but much better than 1) or 2) above.

As an example. One of your previous girls was p1500 for a ST, and she gave good service. She asks for a p3000 remit loan and she agrees to 2ST's to pay it back. Even if she is willing to come to you, on her first ST she will want some extra money: Fare, babysitter, and "please please something for my foods my kids is hangry". You end up forking over another 700, bringing your new ST rate to p2200. It would have been easier to say NO to her request, and just ST'd her when you return.

I have had others borrow and pay back cash, but its unusual. Expect it to be a gift.

They understand that when they themselves loan money to others, that there is little chance of getting it back. If you want to know if a pinoy is sincere about paying back a loan, ask them to sign a simple contract. Many will refuse, because that would mean that they are bound to pay back at some point. This is very telling when someone refuses to sign a loan repayment promise, as they were not sincere in paying back from the get-go. BTW, signed contracts in Phils can be a simple piece of paper done in ink pen. Must have date and names of all parties, including a witness. Want to see if your pinoy is very sincere about repayment? Ask him / her to go to his Brgy office with you to have a Kagawad witness the document signature.
