Posts: 578Current FMM tourist permit situation?
Might be going to MTY next week.
Just got a distress on WhatsApp. Either it's a new policy or a gringo buddy got shaken down for $25 the MEX govt doesn't deserve.
Maybe because he's Asian.
Effective Oct 2021 and or lame excuse: "due to concerns of Corona Virus, leisure travel to Mexico is temporarily suspended. Any foreigners traveling to Monterrey even if less than 6 days still need to pay for the $25 paid pass".
I personally had a near miss in September in Tijuana, and with that in mind prior to this WhatsApp buddy situation, was thinking just saying "essential dental work at clinic in Monterrey" and be as vague as possible.
True $25 is well within my spending budget but I don't believe in shakedowns.
He says they even showed him a sign stating Effective Oct 1 2021 until further notice.
Anyone?

I was in Mexico last week for a few days and forgot to turn in my 7 day FMM tourist visa before I left the border at Acuna.
Is this going to be a problem for me? If so, I do I fix it? I live near Austin.

I'm trying to cross on foot. Will I have any issues?
Also where should I go to look.

We adopted it from them.
Of course the rate is not US$1500. MEX$1500 is US$75.

I made a pass through Nuevo Laredo Friday evening. I arrived around 5 and got a room at the Fiesta Hotel about 4 blocks from the border. Room was $600 pesos plus $200 deposit. The room was clean and the air conditioner was cold. No issues about bringing in girls. BBond helped me out finding an agency. They had a girl there in less than an hour. She was a little older looking than her pics but close enough. Damage was $1500 for an hour. Later that night I walked around downtown. There were no issues finding ladies out and about. The prices ranged from $1000 to $500 per hour. I didn't feel threatened or nervous while I was walking around. Just stay aware and out in the open and it shouldn't be an issue. Until it is. The Federal police roll through occasionally and everyone kind of stands around waiting on them to leave. Saturday morning I checked out, got my $200 back, and was through customs within 30 minutes of leaving my hotel.

What gets me is the prices going up even with COVID. It's the Mexican way that when customers leave and there is less money coming in you raise prices to make up the difference -- most people would think you'd reduce prices to encourage people to return. It makes some sense the way they do it -- the only people who are there now are the desperate ones who want pussy no matter the cost. But I can't get over how a $60 girl two years ago is insisting on $100 for 30 minutes now. With a room, tips, and buying her one drink, that's $140 for a half hour.
