I had originally booked San Peter apartment, but they could not provide me sound-proof apartment, So I had to cancel the booking and had to book another hotel at the last minute. I did a search on ISG and name of Hotel Laureles Plaza caught my attention. I assumed that it must be chica friendly. So I booked it for one week. It was non-refundable after 24 HR prior to check in date.

After I checked-in, I was shocked to find my room was so tiny, there was no room for anything. It was the size of typical casa rooms. It had basic amenities but no windows. It felt like a prison cell.

And I found out that their guest policy is not friendly. You can bring girls but you have to pay 50 k for each guest to take to the room. You can meet them in hotel lobby for free, but they make you sign a form if you want to take them to your room. This was a bummer. I had plans to see many FB girls and I was not willing to extra guest fees, so I checked out within 48 hous, but hotel refused to refund money for remaining days I had paid. So now, I am fighting the booking agency for non-disclosure of hotels restrictive policies and hidden costs..

I heard about that hotel's unfriendly guest policy. Many hotels do not communicate clearly their guests and other policies. I think something wrong with the hotels in Medellin, particularly local hotels as opposed to US / European hotel chains. I stayed 5 days in Poblado in a decent hotel that charged extra $120 from what I was quoted at booking.com during check out. I didn't have time to argue with them as I was rushing to airport. They played just dumb and wouldn't communicate further. In fact I am surprised that big hotels don't employee who can sleep at least little English. Now, I am disputing the extra charge but not holding my breath.

I switched to Nutibara hotel in el centro and my experience was very pleasent there. I saw about 12 FB girls in that hotel, and there was no issue from hotel management.

Where are these local venues and what prices should I expect?

These places are easy to find if you are not on just a weekend visit. Just explore the city on foot, during the day time (I won't suggest doing it at night) or you can befriend a local and ask (be street smart so you don't get scammed).

Do you remember the Hungry I?

Sorry I did not see this post earlier. A quick look on Yelp says the Hungry I just recently closed after being there since the 1960's but I do not remember going there. I was actually stationed at Ft Ord when we would go to San Francisco for the strip clubs, Ft Ord was about 2 1/2 hours south so we would go up for weekends sometimes but after one guy got charged 75 Dollars (1985 dollars! a lot for an army private) for a bottle of champagne and we all had to pitch in money to bail him out, that was the last time we did a strip club up there.

There are still some Strip Club store fronts and signage down around Broadway and Columbus but back then they used to stretch up Broadway, they also had those places where guys would go get a prviate show by putting money into a slot where the girl was behind a glass and the the girl would pull the curtain up for a certain amount of time, they say guys would sit there and masturbate but we never went to those places.

Where are these local venues and what prices should I expect?

If you're staying at a hotel, ask the door guys and the front desk where you can go get laid. Same for your doorman if you're staying at an AirBnB with one. Every time you're in a Taxi, an Uber or a Didi, ask the driver he would go to get himself "una chica para un rato." That's the easiest way to finding out where the locals go. You're going to get a bunch of the touristy places, but you'll also get pointed at the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Doormen, Hotel Desk Clerks, Bartenders and Taxi drivers are the people you ask to find out where locals go do stuff.

If you want to do it the super lazy way, dig through this forum and find out who gives the Medellin tours and pay them to give you a proper tour. There's always one in each of these forums.

Actually what a lot guys don't realize here on this board, especially all the newcomers, is that Lleras and Gusto's are not a local's mongering venue, there are no locals pulling girls from there, and as far as I know, it's the only "tourist / foreigner mongering venue" in the City, and hence the outrageous pricing.

There's lots of other venues in the City with superior ambience and atmosphere, but they are not typically frequented by tourists / foreigners.

LOL. I love the ambience of the local spots. Places where I've been the only non local at various times. Like going through a door in the men's shitter to go up the spiral staircase to the rooms. Or doing the limbo dance under a counter to get into the rooms at another.

Ambience is a personal thing.

Also head down to Lleras park. Its free but they do want you to buy liquor. Good music though. Stuck in the US. Passport issues. Y'all continue to have good fun.

Though Gustos is not my scene, Yes, as a business operation it is quite fair (with the to me minor exception of relatively pricey beers and cocktails). As I had written at the end of my prior post, but was somehow deleted by ISG: "In my experience, after paying the entry charge, one can hang out as long as one likes (dancing, chatting up chicas, collecting their WhatsApp links in the most likely vain hope of negotiating sex for a reasonable price at some later date, are just ogling the eye-candy) without anyone on the staff pressing you to order a drink or spend a cent. " If anyone is clipping anyone, it is the independent putas who themselves have paid to get in for the chance to prey on big-spending gringos, not Gusto's management.

What I do miss most of all in the Medellin mongering scene (great as it is in most respects) are normal local bars with a dance floor and a mix of both working girls and locals just out for a night on the town. The small, seedy bars in El Centro have their charms (at least during daylight hours) but don't really fill the bill.

There's other clubs and areas of Medellin with convenience, good lighting, and reasonable safety that are not over crowded. There's no reason to pay double, triple, quadruple for any of that. If in the streets though the beggars will offer plenty of interruptions, if you can't pretend like they are invisible. There's fewer around Lleras than some other areas. They aren't allowed to ply their trade inside the clubs on La 70 or inside the popular strip clubs.
