I'm considering a trip to Caracas in late April for nothing more than to enjoy the city and the locals. I plan to stay at one hotel for the week then head back home. Any advice regarding money vs credit cards, good hotels, nice area, good restaurants, etc. I met some Venezuelans in the US so I want to visit the country.

I've been looking into going to Isla Margarita and from what I have read, getting a visa from USA for US citizens is a long process and only through their consulate in DC, maybe easier and quicker in Colombia but check it out first since they say you need it before going there.

I've been looking into going to Isla Margarita and from what I have read, getting a visa from USA for US citizens is a long process and only through their consulate in DC, maybe easier and quicker in Colombia but check it out first since they say you need it before going there.

Interesting news that I just found is that a visa is not needed for Mexican Citizens and there are some limited flights to Caracas via Mexico City. Time to bust out my Mexican passport!

Wingo has direct flights from Colombia to Venezuela.

They have the route from Bogotá to Caracas listed on their website but apparently the route is currently suspended due to Covid-19, at least that's what it says on the website when you try to book the route.
