I agree with you that it is in vogue to do this, but I will tell you that Mexico will never require vaccination, and President Duque has said tourism will be Colombia's next oil. It is not farfetched in that Cancun generates $20 billion per year in tourism dollars, and Colombian oil varies but it is in the $10 billion a year area.

If you want tourists though, you do not make it harder on them. Hell, Mexico is way easier than Colombia and Cancun was fucking packed when I went a few weeks ago even after the murders in tourist areas.

I saw an Indian wedding at my Cancun hotel. There were a 100 people in probably 50 rooms dancing outside and spending huge cash on food, drinks, and entertainment. If just one person in the whole party was not vaccinated, they could not have that event in Colombia.

How much did the travel ban cost Colombia? At least they admitted it was pointless. Now the question is how much is this vaccination card bit going to cost them? This is not showing leadership but following the crowd and being stupidly PC.

If you want tourism, you get money and improve infrastructure. In Peru, Mexico, and Ecuador, I rented a car and drove the highways always averaging 60 miles in hour. Hell, Mexico in some parts has better roads than the USA has.

I drove halfway between Medellin and Bogota and averaged 25 MPH. Seriously. And not only that the roads were dangerous to boot. In Cartagena, Bocagrande has two points where you enter into the peninsula like area, and that road is seemingly always flooded and causes traffic jams on the way to the nicest part of the city.

In Mexico, they are building a railway connecting Tulum and Cancun and putting in an airport in Tulum. In Cartagena, they are shooing away the hookers from the clock tower. Which approach do you think is going to win?

It is not a flight ban, or a ban on tourists. It is just a vaccination requirement. And for many parts of the world you need to be vaccinated to get on a plane, so if the country you are going to requires it there is no difference. And I have to be fully vaccinated to get into the USA and many other places. So they are only doing what the US is already doing.

For anyone confused about the more restrictive Covid testing requirements which began today, here's some help.

You're required to get tested within 1 day of your flight. If you are flying out at 10 pm on Wednesday, you have to be tested anytime Tuesday or Wednesday, before your flight. If your outbound flight is very early morning, the distinction doesn't matter much. However, if you fly late at night you have almost a 2 day window to meet the requirement.

Since there are plenty of labs giving results in less than 1 hour, this shouldn't be an issue.

I was in Cali and I got some good and bad experiences. I met only black girls. I like only regular girls, I don't like pros. Even if I would have liked to meet some white girls and stay with her for a week or more, I did not succeed because I am old and I had to pay a lot of the money compared to costs of Cali.

The problem is not that not everyone will understand. The problem is that many (a large minority) have no desire to understand as the quote below can attest to. I can explain most of this. However, it's unlikely everyone will understand.

1. Washing your hands is primarily to protect yourself. Unless you work in healthcare or food service, the probability you will infect someone because you haven't washed your hands is low. Washing your hands reduces the risk that you'll stick a contaminated finger in your nose. So whether you wash your hands 20 times a day or once a week doesn't matter.

2. Masks are worn to protect others. Depending on the mask and how well it fits it might give you some protection but that's not the primary purpose.

3. Vaccination reduces the risk you will become infected. It doesn't prevent infection. It also reduces the risk of serious illness or death.

4. Testing works in conjunction with 1, 2 and 3. It's to identify people who are potentially contagious, so they can be isolated to prevent further spread.

5. It's not about you. You might be the perfect law abiding, vaccinated citizen with clean hands. The guy sitting next to you on the plane might not be any of those things. Just recently we had a post about a guy who tested positive, got on a plane, flew to Tijuana and walked across the border because not infecting others was inconvenient.

5. There is a delay between becoming infected and being contagious. There's also a delay between becoming infected and testing positive. Shortening the testing window means less contagious people are getting on the crowded planes or waiting in lines in crowded airports. If a person is infected, but tests negative within 24 hours of their flight, there's a good chance they'll be away from the crowds before they are infectious. If an infected person tests negative 3 days before their flight, chances are they will be contagious before they board the plane.

Concerning the "millions of illegal criminals", I can't help you with that. They only exist within the twisted imaginations of some very disturbed people. However, if you're talking about the thousands of immigrants and refugees, I have some good news. If they've been traveling for months, and they've been exposed to Covid, chances are they either died along the way, or recovered and are no longer contagious. If you're planning to let one of them stick a finger in your nose, ask them to wash their hands first.

I kind of knew the tight 24 hrs window was coming when I realized the difference since I came back to the US from Colombia 8 months ago vs Brazil 2 months ago. They kept tightening up the window. 8 months ago, it was just 3 days no matter the vaccination status, and 2 months ago, it was vaccinated is 3 day and non vac is 1 day. I didn't want to take my chances when I boarded the plane back to the US (I saw a dude got denied when he did his test within 2 days while I was boarding the plane in Colombia), so I took the test within 24 hrs even though I am vaccinated (had to do to see Cristo Redeemer) haha. Now I guess vaccination status doesn't mean anything anymore, does that mean no more vaccination discrimination? LOL.

In the infinite wisdom of the brain dead administration, they force law abiding citizens with the where-with-all of being health conscious and being able to wash their hands and afford a plane ticket to now get tested regardless of Vaccination status, are now be forced into a tight 24 hour window to find a lab that will do the test and get the results back to you before your flight leaves you stranded.
