No, many wouldn't leave for any of those reasons. The states that pay the highest wages, mostly blue states and cities are not coincidentally also the states and cities with the highest real estate costs and values.

Anyone whose mortgage was paid off on that high ticket real estate thanks to their higher incomes over decades are sitting on a relative gold mine at retirement. They could relocate to any pissant red state, buy outright for cash and play on the internet from now on if they want.

Oh, and thanks solely to Clinton and the Dems in Congress but zero thanks to even one Repub, a married filing jointly retired couple would pocket the first $500,000 in equity on the sale of their primary residence 100% tax free.

Further proof Biden has created zero jobs in a year. Only four states are back to employment levels pre pandemic when Trump was president. Biden needs 5 million more jobs created to get to Trump record employment numbers.

Arizona, Utah and Idaho are the only other three states to regain all the jobs lost to the pandemic, The Wall Street Journal noted Tuesday.

New York, on other hand, is lagging far behind the Lone Star State. New York State Budget Director told reporters on Tuesday that the state has recovered less than two-thirds of the jobs lost due to the pandemic. The economy is still 5 million jobs under the peak reached before the pandemic, according to Forbes.

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics doesn't count "people who returned to work after calling in sick" as an added job.

All Great Repub Crashes that wipe out millions of jobs, as Trump's did, are counted as jobs lost. All Great Dem Recoveries and Expansions that recover and create jobs, as Biden's is doing at a historic pace and level, are counted as jobs gained.

There are two (2) reasons for the internal migration.

One is that xenophobic uneducated wingers are moving from states with high populations of immigrants to low education states like Florida and Texas where they'll fit in better with their fellow deplorables.

The second reason is taxes. Wingers would rather move to a low tax state so that they can get freebies from the federal gummint. 'Cause that's what wingers do. They talk a good game but states with the largest influx of federal dollars are red.

But, if the wingers get their way and we have a national divorce, blue states can lower their tax base because they don't have to give back to the red states. We can then build a wall around the red states and let them rot.

The Washington Post reported January 14 on the southern migration, which is now reversing the historic "Great Migration" of black Americans from the South to northern cities during the 1900's:

What those states have in common is they have among the highest incomes and best returns on real estate investment in America. Maybe those people took their lifelong income advantages and investment gains, converted their residents into rental property and bought some cheap home in a depressed red state for cash or leased at ridiculously low rent rates.

That is similar to what I did at retirement from California. But I chose a place to live in retirement that provides a hell of a lot more fun, pleasure and comfort advantages than any red state you've got.
