Me too and it's served me well over the years. Apply some kind of minimum standard such as '6' or '7' or whatever and then it should be about the vibe with the woman. Arrived at the airport and couldn't buy a sim there so I offered the taxi 90,000 pesos to poblado. That is actually the same rate that I paid when I took uber back to the airport when I went home, so you really don't have to worry about being ripped off like cancun. Offer 90 k and off you go. One place Spanish has English beat in terms of sexism (if only a little) is with last names or apellidos. You carry the apellido of both parents (father's first then mother's). Of course your mom's name gets dropped for your kids. They take your and their own mom's first apellido. So there is that.

They seem to understand names here in this country. Also, when they turn 18 they are allowed to change their given (first) name to anything they want on their cedula, and that instantly becomes their legal name. Simply brilliant. I was very glad Catgirl took advantage of that option. Geez.

When you said dropped for the mother's maternal apellido, that could be interpreted two ways, as in retained or lost. I believe in your example you meant remove or lose the maternal last name for the child, which would be the traditional way here. However, it is not a legal requirement to give the child his (or hers) paternal name.

How do I know this? Amazonia finally birfused the baby on January 21, a healthy thriving boy. There is some confusion about the paternity which as you can imagine is not an uncommon situation, obviously and especially if there was no prenatal paternity testing.
