It is known from the beginning that vaccines doesn't prevent you from being infected, even the American and European ones.

Your comment implies that the two above cited brands are less effective than the Western made ones.

Guess you are fortunate this occurred in Samui rather than Bangkok where rumor has it, a case of Covid would land you in a hospitel prison or a normal hospital. I'm finally back in Thailand for the next few months, luckily made a window where there's only 1-day quarantine, and flew to Samui for a little non-mongering style relaxation.

And guess what? I caught covid, even though I have 3 vaccinations and I'm quite careful about wearing my mask, except when I eat at restaurants.

I took 2 brands of quick tests, both returned negative results, but I was feeling so bad I went to a hospital, and tested positive.

The entire experience (besides what was probably one of the worst flus I've had) wasn't terrible. The hotel they quarantined me in had an ocean view, and the food wasn't bad.

Still. It shows that even being careful and vaccinated you can get infected.

I too would be interested in what vaccines you got. I too caught covid here in Pattaya (took an antigen test when I was feeling a bit feverish) but I just stayed in my condo for 4 days and when I felt better took another test that came back negative. There is a big risk going to the hospital as a tourist if your feeling a bit ill, that ocean view hotel could easily have been a one star motel with no window and an old tv and then a 20,000 baht bill after 10 days. And you can't argue you'll self isolate in your condo, some condo's have rules saying you can't stay there with covid.

If you have a thai residence address, you are allowed to quarantine in your residence. Whether its owned or rented. Doesn't matter if Thai or foreigner.

Yes, tourists don't have this option.

In order to self isolate you need the permission from the condo. Our condo unfortunately does not allow self isolation. Since the pandemic started there have been 15 cases in our condo, all carted off to hospitals / hospitels.
