I know latam from the 4 years I have been here so I speak with authority that Cuba is worth the challenge if you are up to it.

But have you been anywhere else in LatAm? I live in Guatemala and can get everything you people talk about in Cuba and there is plenty of toilet paper, I don't have to lie about why I am here, there is food on the shelves in the grocery store, and so forth. And it's not ridiculously hot.

I've read through the last 100 pages of posts here. I've also looked at the licence requirements to travel from the US and I'm comfortable that I'll have an itinerary that will satisfy the "support for the Cuban people" category.

So. I'm travelling to Havana in May! This will be my second trip. My first trip was in 2010 and was purely non-mongering related (I didn't even know what a monger was at that point). This trip is also not monger-centric. I am travelling with no expectation of meeting a chica. But if I were to find a novia for my trip, it wouldn't be unwelcome.

A few questions:

Is anyone here likely to be in Havana during the last 2 weeks in May? It would be great to meet up for some company.

Would anyone be willing to share any casa particular (entire place) recommendations that are guest friendly? I've been searching airbnb and I have a few shortlisted that don't have any strict rules, but having contacted them, they have all said that guests need to register. I get that response. But hoping to find someone friendly who won't mind one, two maybe three guests during different points on my trip.

Does anyone have good contacts with a huster or two who I can perhaps chat / meet with to show me some of the better clubs and / or chicas? I'll only be there for 5 days and a lot of the daytime will be activities which will be "supporting the Cuban people" so my actual downtime will be limited. It woudl be good to get a head start in terms of connecting with one or two guys who can help facilitate a pleasant downtime.

When they say that guests have to be registered I wonder what that means. When I stayed in a casa particulare a few years back they said they had to register anyone I brought in, but not the same as being registered as a co-guest. Might need clarification. It also could be an airbnb thing, I'm not sure how they operate in Cuba. I know that the casa particulares all had to be government licensed before they could display the little symbol for a casa particular, and their fees were also regulated. I'm assuming airbnb has to fall under that system as well. But I don't know for sure.

I just came back from Havana on Monday no issues at all. This is like my 20th trip down in the last 5 years. No real questions asked when I arrived in the us they said why did I go an I said to visit a family friend that was it.

Flying from where in USA? I've been several times but always through the Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale, what to fly from here if possible.

Any information will be appreciated!

Why go to Cuba when you have so many other alternatives where toothpaste is available and commercial sex is legal? I fucked a Cubana in Buenos Aires and she was a dead fish, and a drunk. Obviously that is a sample size of one, but is the pussy there really worth putting up with all kinds of bullshit? It just sounds like a lot of hassle for no real reason.

I agree, I am not afraid of tough environments, I have plied my trade in the rough ends of places from Riga to Jakarta, and had fun in them all, even though frequently I didn't speak a word of the local lingo. I still recall with fondness the night I spent in long impassioned conversation with two stunning girls in Yangon, even though neither I nor they could speak each other's language, what we discussed I have no idea but it all ended up advantageous for all concerned.

In the early 2000's I had reason to frequently visit North America and the first time having heard so much about Cuba I scheduled a visit, I learned Spanish in school and can get by. I stayed in the Hotel Nacional, and given that these were the days before ISG I was shocked to discover that I couldn't bring guests back. Really, I am an adult in my 30's, staying in a supposedly five-star hotel and I am being treated like I am back in my college dorm? All the white-jacketed waiters and mojitos on the lawn don't make up for that indignity. Hey-ho I went to the Commodore (is that the name?) and was impressed by what was on offer, less impressed by the arrangement of how to get what I wanted, waking up some poor family at 1 am so that they could rent me a bedroom in their shabby apartment.

Lesson learned, next visit I rented my own apartment, pretty grim, but I kind of got what I wanted, but on the whole it was rushed and impersonal. None of this hot Latina passion they tell me about.

Giving it one last bash a year later, I did both, stayed at the Nacional and rented an apartment (I am not stingy with the cash when I know what I want). Sheesh, things had got even worse. The Commodore had closed, I met two nice chicas, so I thought, on the Malecon, we got chatting they asked for some cash, sure I am a generous guy and gave them a few dollars and asked them to accompany me to the apartment where they could earn some more. I was told to * off and they wandered away with their measly handful of dollars.

That night I met a "young" lady with slightly faded looks but who still had the body of the dancer that she once was. We had a couple of drinks and she agreed to accompany me back to my place. Back there, she proceeded to take out some crystal meth, which she began to grind on the metal kitchen table. Under the bare bulb hanging from the ceiling I could see she was a lot older and more careworn than she appeared in the bar, that combined with the thought of a raid by the cops (perhaps she worked with them) to arrest the gringo with drugs, I paid her off and showed her the door. I went back to the hotel and settled for a mojito on the lawn.

I never felt the need or desire to return to Cuba again. Sure, the regulars will post about how us lily-livered sex tourists don't know how to find real Cubanas, how we need to put the effort in, how we have to go here, do this, say that, and then we'll get all the passionate sex we want.

Yeah, whatever, there's the whole of the rest of Latin America and Asia awaiting me with none of that shit and hassle. Good luck to the long-term residents, enjoy living in a clapped-out country where toilet paper is a luxury but the girls still get to be so picky. The rest of us have a whole world out there and we don't need that sort of dicking around.

My complicating factor is that I'm not a US citizen but need to fly back into the US to get my independently-booked flight back to Canada.

I have been to Havana 16 times, and have always used the Support the Cuban People for my reason for travel to Cuba, and never had any issues or questions from anyone including authorities.

That said, I never liked Havana. I enjoy our hobby in 2nd tier towns and provinces. Things are more relaxed there than Havana including girls vs cops.

I get mistaken for a Cuban / Latino so I don't attract much attention. Sometimes the chicas don't realize I'm a foreigner until I'm engaging them! And I'm fluent in conversational Spanish. So if you don't know how to order food comfortably in spanish it will detract from enjoying Cuba.

Things I miss about Cuba:

1- Cigars.

2- 25 cents cheese pizza. LOL.

3- College students especially from other towns living in the dorms.

4- Son cubano in Santiago.

5- Buying eggs in the blk market. LOL.

6- Hunting fresh province chicas arriving at the train station in Camagüey!

I really think Cuba should not be your first destination especially with little Spanish. Hit a few other Spanish speaking spots like DR, PERU, Colombia. Etc then you'll be ready and appreciate the GOLD!

I've hired Mexicans, Columbians, Venezuelans, Americans and Cubans in my five years or so of mongering. Cubans were the best followed closely by Columbians. Then the Mexicans, then Vennies and of course last the Americans. Cuban girls are special and I miss them. Fucking Covid.

I have been living here for 4 years and no way I can agree that cuban girls are not worth the trip. Yes, this place need a bit of hard work but trust me its worth it. BTW, no police is going to give you any trouble when you are with a girl unless she's underage of course. Hi all.

So, I guess this is my 'hail mary' in terms of a trip to Havana. I live in Canada and have a work trip to the Southwest in May. I was hoping to take a week's vacation and travel to Cuba due to the obvious cost savings. I have been to Cuba once, in 2010, and I loved it there. If mongering weren't a consideration, I'd be going in a heartbeat for the music and for some Son classes alone (which I plan to do when I travel).

The thought of going to Cuba totally excites me, I love the country. But I also now factor in the opportunity to meet ladies when deciding on any trip. This is an important part of my trips as a long-time single guy having been stuck in Canada for the last two years due to COVID, apart from a quick trip to Tijuana recently.

I have just gone through the last 50 pages of comments. That sure was fun. During this time I have run the gamut of emotions. From "I need to get to Havana now" to "Havana is a terrible idea" - mainly the latter, sadly. From my destination in the Southwest, I can get to places such as Tijuana and Cartagena for half the price of a flight to Havana, but Havana is my ideal destination if mongering is not a consideration.

Full disclosure. My Spanish is non-existent, but I learnt enough to get by during my last trip to Tijuana and have 3 months to learn what I can. I'm also not great with approaching women, but I can. To be honest, I would be happy with one lady, maybe two, during a 5 day trip (which this will be). But I do want to get some reassurance that this at least could happen wihtout any major issues.

Another issue. My career, and the current stage of my qualifications, mean that any kind of arrest which would have to get back to my employer would likely signal the end of my job. It would also mean that my employment options in my curent city / province would be extremely limited. So much so that I may need to move. I'm not in a special role, but am in a very precarioius position in terms of qualification / money invested in getting where I am. All this is to say that I can't take any chances whatsoever in terms of being arrested.

I should stay away from Havana, right? As much as it is my ideal destination for non-mongering reasons, the fact that I will be actively seeking to meet ladies seems to put too much risk into things, in a current situation that doesn't sound to great right now, even if I wasn't worried about negative consequences.

From what I've read, Badoo may be an option, and I'd consider that. I'm not concerned with 9's, 10's etc. I just want some 7/8's company and time for a few of the nights that I'd be there.

Is arrest a real risk of meeting ladies in Havana right now? And, if not, for someone with average skills and little Spanish, is the chances of meeting 7's /8's a realistic possibility with a 5 day trip (I. E with little time to put in groundwork to build up a base of contacts)?

If I didn't love Cuba, I wouldn't be making such an effort to try to get some positive indications that my trip would be fruitful. I can just as easily head to Colombia or Tijuana for less cost and be relatively happy. But I really want to get back to Havana for other reasons. I just want to make sure that mongering is still likely to be positive, and relatively risk-free, given my circumstances above.

This is the most recent actual report I can find about meeting women on the street in Havana:

"Street action: I walked down La Rampa twice during my stay. I did see many women available, but also many police and cameras; was not worth my time to play the 'Cat and Mouse' game. It was the same on the Malecon. Others have had luck, but I had enough on my plate, so I didn't waste my time."

However that is dated 02-25-2020; in other words just before COVID hit. Apparently at that time, the standard process was: visit certain nightclubs, give a woman your address, leave, she will show up at your address soon after. She will need to provide the apartment owner with her identity card. Give her 30 USD in cash for the night.

The question is: What is happening now? Same situation? Major changes? Obviously the poverty is much worse than two years ago and domestic unrest is greater so perhaps the police are easing up on prostitution. Or not.
