Manila is a shit hole right now, I wouldn't waste my time trying to be alive in manila. All of this nonsense is driven by these ever changing alert levels. So as a tourist since you are not rooted to a certain province its in your best interest to move to the province with the lowest possible alert level. It's not about getting "caught" or paying a bribe. At different alert levels they just have different levels of services offered in this country because it is more fun in the Philippines. You are just being fear mongerd by a frustrated company, that is trying to explain nonsense. Manila seems to the be root of all nonsense and thankfully some of that never makes it out of manila. I was unable to find any documentation of a cessation of the visa extension and there is documentation that suggests they in fact have halted OTL orders which actually swings in the other direction Moral of that story is GTFO of manila.

Interesting that the Visa agent would tell me an extension can't be made from the Manila BI yet you received one from Angeles. Can you name the Visa agency? I check the website below and found this at #5 at the bottom:

Foreign nationals from visa-free countries who wish to stay in the Philippines for more than 30 days can either (a) request an extended stay at the Bureau of Immigration upon arrival in the Philippines; or (b) secure an endorsement from the appropriate Philippine national government agency and secure a 9 (a) visa that will allow them to stay for a maximum of 59 days. The endorsing Philippine national agency must submit their entry exemption request directly to DFA-Office of Consular Affairs (OCA).

That pretty much clears up the question if one can extend or not even though the BI in Manila might not be extending.

A similar case could be made for pre-pandemic barfine prices, when you factor in your airline ticket, hotel, and other costs (ie food).

Correct me if I am wrong, but even pre-pandemic, AC barfines were upwards of p3000 for several years (we complained that the Koreans were driving rates up).

Most of the main Walking Street bars were at least 3 k and if they were spotlight or whatever the different titles they had they were at least 3. 5 k pre-pandemic.

While I had the opportunity to go to the less-strict AC, I did not, on purpose. I could not agree more with the moral of your story, especially for the tourist (which I am not).

While I had the opportunity to go to the less-strict AC, I did not, on purpose. I could not agree more with the moral of your story, especially for the tourist (which I am not).

I chatted with a visa agency in Manila on facebook about your comment about trying to get an extension in Angeles City. The agent said 'Yes Angeles has been extending some visas but the main BI office in Manila is not". I was told here in Thailand I can 'stay as long as I want' which is basically getting an illegal visa by paying a bribe. Hey it might look good in your passport and you can walk around freely thinking you've got yourself covered. In reality its just ink. You get caught when you try to leave the country, when another immigration officer looks at your visa and tells you that you overstayed. You miss your flight, your taken to the main office to pay your fines. And with covid you might have to set up an appointment at that office to pay your fines.

I'm happy to see things opening up in AC but I am not pleased with the notion of 3.5 to 4 K bar fines. That 80 USD for maybe 2 fucks LT or $70 for one fuck ST. Even coming from Singapore when you add up airfare, Covid Tests, hotels etc than add a barfine per day for for a 5 day trip makes it 250/ fuck! I can get my choice of Viet or Thai hookers or a SB right here in Singapore for that. Especially if girls in bars are not naked and playful anymore and perimeter high contact BJ bars are dead. I have a dive trip to Palawan in May and maybe will stop by AC coming or going but making a special trip there seems not worth it until more bars and options open. Still hopeful though.

As a guy who often gets it for less than normal, I completely endorse paying the newer and more pricey rates, especially to get your first rocks off when you arrive. One of the gents in the Makati thread paid 500 for massage + 2 k for hand job, normally too much, but who TF cares? The entire situation has changed, and probably will some day go back to a more 'normal' situation, but certainly this is not yet it. More bars and hotels will need to re-open, and more gents will need to arrive to fill them. Besides getting creamy with the Pilipina, the gents have been too long removed from pinoy culture; sights, smells, warm weather during the cold American months.

But in the meantime, tip-of-the-spear fellas like DD, MM, DC, and Steve Nash: YOU GO BOY, keep reporting. Welcome back gents!

Great news! I myself was told the standard VOA was not yet extend-able by another gent. Keep getting your rocks off.

Please let us know if they do extend your visa. I was under the assumption that the 30 day visa wasn't being extended at this moment.

So if you do get an extension from the Angeles office how things work out will depend on immigration officers in another office following the rules.

Having not been there since 2019 can anyone answer the following questions:

1. what is the closing time for the bars in Walking Street?

2. what is the popular disco now that High Society has closed?

I just dropped by the wild orchard and they said the back wing is still a quarantine hotel, but they just opened up to tourists in the front. She said the best way to book a room is via email. I asked if one could book on agoda and she said yes and looked confused but i cant find it on agoda right now..

Just received an email response from Eddie (a manager) when I met him several times, he said hotel not open yet and trying to open middle of March, and she said open? Hmmm thanks bud I'm sure we will have answers soon! Appreciate you going by.

I stayed three nights at ABC (Sun Mon Tues 21 22 23) and the front desk never asked the girls for ID or vaxx card. What alerted me was that after one girl departed and then another without getting a call from downstairs, I asked the third one who confirmed that. The front desk did call and let me know that I had a visitor though.

Things are changing from week to week in the Phils and for the better however when I decided to go to AC and looked at Expedia it said 'sold out' for most of the hotels, which I just knew couldn't be right. So I just took a ride up there and went to the front desk of ABC without a reservation. Similarly when I returned to Manila I went directly to I'm in poblacion without a reservation rather than go by the Expedia app. The hotels were definitely getting busier even during my 10 day stay so I wouldn't do this for much longer. Likewise security is likely to return to normal.

Re Wild Orchid: This is a go to for me also. I swung by and the security guard told me that it is a quarantine hotel.

Also, someone asked about EDSA complex, another stomping ground. A monger I met at the gym who lives in Manila for 16 years assured me that it was 'dead and buried'. RIP.

Glad your having fun, gives hope to all of us that really miss the place, I was in same spot as you and no desire of going back after my last couple of trips, just feeling empty when leaving and not the joy I used to feel and just sticking with BKK, hopefully new reports like yours brings us hope of what will be, do you see any life in Wild Orchid hotel opening soon or see any signs of life?
