Obviously, I'm not staying there. I'm mostly saying that 1) it's way different that my stately home in coastal California, and 2) if tourists / mongers are interested in a completely different and authentic experience (which, I suppose, most aren't) then they should check it out. Sosua, although 10 X better than Cabarete as a town, is still full full of burnt up, burnt out, overweight foreigners -- none of that in LOS Charamicos.

Once you get used to it, it's not impossible to navigate in a car, even with old man reflexes and vision.

(I've driven in many countries and, to repeat the obvious, I wouldn't rate Dominicans highly on the careful driving scale. Especially on the weekends, drunken people leaving the beach, weaving, hurling empties out the window. I tried to explain the english phrase, "drunk douchebag" to my date).
Like Cabarete, Charamicos is one of the many pleasant diversions from Sosua's downtown. It's home to a lot of the locals who work in the tourist business. It's a hodge podge of little houses and colmados, and a great place to hang out on a Sunday, with the locals and a cold beer, if you're tired of the hustle in Sosua.

My former GF has extended family there, and although she went to the States some 6 years ago, I still keep in touch. Matter of fact, my present GF has a good relationship with them too, so we get over there quite often.

Last year one of the expats here took 3 of us out in his old jeep for the day to show us some of his favorite "secret spots" outside Sosua. We started at the little bar down on Charamicos beach where the girl addresed me by name. No secrets in Sosua.

Then we took in some small towns, then up to a tranquilo spot that had a waterfall and pool full of fish. We swam (I waded) in the cold water, and a local guy came in and opened up a frig and a barbeque for a good lunch.

On the way back he said he would take us to his favorite local hang out spot for more cold beers. We were going back into Charamicos, and he was navigating his way all through the winding streets, all the way up to the cockfighting place and the little tienda next door.

Was he ever surprised when the locals, young and old folks alike, all came out to give me a hug.

Then when I got home, my Puerto Plata GF texted me, How was Charamocos?

    No secrets in Sosua, LOL.

May I also add that I notice Colombian women in there overall physical physique are more on the Eurocentric side. However they make up for it with plastic surgery in the general population. Now they have the body and the look!

It's only when you get to areas in Colombia that has a higher percentage of Afro Colombians mixed in the population do you notice a higher correlation of natural "curves". Cali curves is a popular term used to describe the Colombians in the Cali region. Very close to the afro Colombian coast.

In the DR chicas having plastic surgery is only common in casas and Sosua where there's a demand in the market. Other than that many Dominican are content with their genetic physical bodies. But that hair is another thing.

I remember one time a Hispanic woman said in a joke: "my grandmother is Colombian and my mother is Puerto Rican. Due to my father being born and from Santo Domingo; all her childhood life her mother and grandmother had been trying to straighten the Dominican part out of her hair".

But maybe I'm wrong, as I pay more attention to mulatas / dark ones.
From my experience Santiago is best for light skinned girls.

There used to be lots of light skinned girls coming to Sosua. I have been with many of them (have not been there last two years). Very rarely I have been with black girls. What I heard was whiter the skin higher the asking price. It was not like that before. I paid around 2500 pesos for all night. If I kept her as a GF for few days it would be 2000 per day plus expenses plus some shopping for clothes for her. I tend to keep one for a few days if company and sex is good. Last trip I met a Colombian looking white girl from Santiago. Her asking price was 3500 to start which I paid the first night but negotiated down for stay few days. She was a sweetheart in and out of bed.

? SDQ to Cabarete / Sosua

I'm going to Cabarete next week mostly for kiting. I have a huge equipment bag, but before I pull the trigger on a car rental (has anyone taken a taxi / uber from SDQ to Sosua / Cabarete? (I don't really need a car, just like one).

I have traveled all over the world and spent great times mongering in Thailand, the Philippines, and Mexico, All over Europe, Colombia and Costa Rica. I came to Sosua with low expectations and it turned out to be a good short trip totaling 5 nights.

We stayed at the Sea Breeze hotel and the rooms were a good value and guest friendly. We had a great time getting to know the cute bartenders and the owner Johan who lives and manages the property. We were a 12 minute walk from Sosua beach which was a great beach with some good restaurants. I had a really good Red Snapper at the beach.

Woman all shapes and sizes and most not my type. I prefer more slender and there were a few. We felt very safe in Sosua and saw no sign of crime.

Lots of monger action on the main drag with a new menu every day. Most of the action is a night but if you cannot control your appetite then head over the Baileys for great food and a consistent supply of laddies. Sosua beach was a great place to flirt, have a beer with the ladies and get their phone numbers. For a quick long weekend it did the trick.
Really cool to see. Thanks for sharing Anthony. My first ever mongering trip was to Sosua, and it has a real spot in my heart which I will never forget. Cool to see you can still have a good time there. Long live the Sue!
