Have someone been in Minsk recently?
In spite of the sanctions, is it safe as a foreigner?

There are apartments in Minsk, not as many as in Kiev but one needs local contacts or taxi drivers hanging near clubs and casinos to take you there.

Last time I was in Minsk Sept 2019 there were even more strip clubs than in previous years. Not sure if I can post a link but a simple search for such clubs will take you there.
The combination of Strip Club and girls of the night were there at Tekhas (Texas), situated in the Yubileynaya hotel, Masherov street 19,Tekhas and the hotel lobby are frequented by a lot of working girls.
Tekhas Club is a cheaper venue compared to other classier clubs.

Posts: 68Late reply but this info may be useful to others:
I've been to Minsk and Kyiv a few times. Difficult to find working girls in Minsk. No salons or apartments in the city, no strip clubs, no erotic massages in Minsk. In evenings you can go to upmarket nightclubs where there are some working girls but very expensive. Expect to pay 300 Euros plus for takeout. Entrance and drinks are high also. Nightlife is good but only at weekends, local girls are difficult to meet as English is not spoken much. If you speak Russian it gets easier. English speaking girls are very in demand and tend to be gold diggers and scammers.
Kyiv has its faults but you can get sex immediately, experience can vary but at least you get a fuck. That's the whole point isn't it. Also as a city Kyiv has something for everyone. More English is spoken in Kyiv but also has a big scammer problem.

Hello fellow Phunters.
Debating between Kiev and Mink for December or January.
To me,
Kiev was easy with lots of options. Plus there are still many flights there.
However, the sex quality was always so so despite many quantities. Also many worn-out girls. War is imminent to may mass media.
Airbnb apartments are usually dirty, risky with hidden cams.
Minsk was not easy to find semi-pros. They seem to be well behaved, serious about the meeting.
However restaurants, streets, culture / systems are clean, well organized. I felt safe there. All the Airbnb / hotels were top notch.
But there is no flight to Minsk at. At.
What do you think guys?

Posts: 404I think it is pretty funny that the dictator is so scared of teddybears and that he tries to hide his baldness by forbidding journalists of filming the back of his head.

The sad and the most embarrassing part is the low quality of today's journalism.
Just to prove the case here is the quote from the show:
"But there may be one extremely small way that we can help here, or, if not help, at least annoy the shit out of Lukashenko. Because if there's one thing we know he hates — other than gay people, Jews, his own bald head, and anyone who disagrees with him — it's teddy bears. ".

Well, I have been to BY many times and I always managed to find WGs on the spot, no need to fly them anywhere. And I must say the girls were nice quality.
About the political situation, well, I agree Luka is not perfect leader, but at least predictable. Like one poster before me sad, a country with almost no crime, good systems of health and education, and the roads, oh the roads. Just perfect. I think I saw better roads only in Sweden. For me predictability is important when visiting a foreign country, I need to plan in advance all the steps, what is allowed what is not allowed. I'm not that young anymore, my "I want to change the world" phase is long over. And last but not least, I was a guest there, I have absolutely Nothing to say about their internal politics. It's not my bizz and I don't want this to be my bizz. And IMHO people have to be careful on what it would be a after a 'color revolution'. Who is buying that apparent 'democracy'? The nationalists? Like in that old Megadeth song "Peace sells. But who is buying". A person like the late Vital Shyshou who had ties to the Far Right nationalists? Even the "anti Lukashenka" outlet Meduza wrote: Korotkykh told that he's been helping the Shyshou's NGO since its inception. He also claimed to have helped Vital Shyshou obtain a residency permit in Ukraine. Who is Korotkykh? Well, google this gentleman, you will be amused. It is said for example that he was involved in some xenophobic murders occurred on the territory of the RF some years ago.

It is interesting reading the political posts here.
Anyone who has visited the country will know that it is clean, virtually crime free, and populated by decent, friendly and warm people. The country can only be commended for not wishing to import Western decadence and third-world poverty.
