1500 usd if your lucky 4500-6000 typical at least where I live I have the bills to prove it.

There is a gap between theory and practice. And this difference can be seen in the situation.

Glad the hospital was to your liking. Unlike adenovirus, which interested me more. Scary stuff.

    My recent stay in Pattaya

I have been going every year to SEA since 2003, sometimes twice a year. This long standing trend was interrupted by Covid, but I was still lucky. I only missed 2021. I had last visited in January of 2020, well before they closed the borders on March 2020.

I did not know what to expect from this trip. From reading ISG, I was not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. I managed to have a good time.

On this trip, my plan was to visit Singapore for 4 days, Bangkok 4 days, Pattaya for 5 days, then back to Singapore for 2 days before heading back home. Singapore was the least fun part of this trip, because Geylang was pretty much closed. I had a good time in Bangkok (see trip report).

I arrived in Pattaya on a Thursday afternoon, from Bangkok. It was hot and muggy in Pattaya. I checked in at LK Empress hotel, on Soi 12 & Beach Road. After some rest, I took a stroll on Beach Road around 5 pm. It was relatively quiet, but I kept walking up and down the beach after such a long absence. Eventually, I reached the Pattaya Beer Garden, at the entrance of Walking Street. It was starting to get dark and I was hungry. A fellow expat was joining me for dinner. We sat down, had a few drafts, ate dinner and started reminiscing about the past.

After we finished our dinner, we decided to take a stroll on walking street. The scene was subdued, to say the least. Many buildings were abandoned and left in ruin. They were redoing the pavement and they were halfway done. At this time of the year, it rains on a regular basis there. It had rained during the day, and the ground was soft, with a wet dirt. Hence, it was preferable to avoid walking on the street and the sidewalks were not wide enough to accommodate the large crowd. That was not much fun.

Some of the Gogo bars were open and the girls were outside, chanting the welcaam slogan. Actually, I would say most of the Gogo bars were open but not busy. After one tour, we decided to leave the area and went back to Beach road. Walked for a while and my buddy wanted to call it a night. He left and I continued on my own. As I got close to my hotel, I spotted a Free Lancer (FL) on the road. After some negotiations, I decided to take her to my hotel, 1 K bahts for ST. She was average at best.

The FL scene was very active, and started around sunset. I was helping myself every night with a different FL. The typical price asked was 1 K bahts.

I also checked during the day the body massage on Soi Honey, close to Soi Diana. I went there 3 times during my stay and I was very pleased with my selection, one repeat and 2 new girls.

I did not do any LT (long time) as I prefer to sleep alone these past few years.

In addition, my expat buddy and I checked out Tree Town and we were both impressed with the atmosphere. We ended up visiting that place every night. However, it was very crowded on Saturday night, but much less hectic on week days.

Overall, I had a good time in Pattaya, and I would encourage folks to go visit at this time. I plan to come back in the winter, January / February, for my usual once a year visit.

Speaking of discotheques, my memory tells me that there was a Marine Disco in Pattaya going back quite a few years. Really big place that drew a late night crowd with loads of freelancers-almost like Help in Rio. I was surprised to see that it appears to be still around, albeit temporarily closed, so they say. Surprised because it doesn't seem to get any mentions on the forum, not that I've read, anyway.

I didn't want to talk about nonverbal communication or first words of proper usage like Hello, thank you, goodbye. But at least a few words that allow you to get to know each other and build trust. Even more so if we go into negotiations for the rest of the events. And the mamasan, when there is one, can't be everywhere with the girls. Especially in the bedrooms. This phase can be easily misunderstood and can discourage girls who only speak Thai.

I never meant to say that all these girls were from Thai brothels (or I misspoke). But no doubt there are. Some of these young girls that I practiced had obvious experience and were not beginners. For others, more rarely, I was one of their first customers. They told me and it was visible. I reassure you (or I will disappoint you, it depends) they do not remain beginners very long.

There are quite a few closed places for which the covid has been fatal. In Walking street or soi 6, at first sight, maybe 20% to 30% of the places. But for those that are open (gogos, massage shops, bars,....), at the moment, with the post covid recovery, are recruiting and new girls arrive every day. I saw girls I knew from before covid. But there are many who come to Pattaya for the first time.

    Dogs

In the past I remember dogs prowling jomtien.

The native trows stones to keep distance.

    Now better a pepper spray.

Or you can kill the dogs.

The native don t dare for fear to kill a deceased parents that now is a dog.

    Bangkok Pattaya Hospital

I'm in Pattaya, back from some misadventures in Cambodia and the Philippines- really wish I had just skipped all that tbh. Most likely it was Angeles City where I caught what I initially thought was Bacterial Conjunctivitis due to the extremely acute symptoms, but subsequent doctors have identified the malady as viral, probably an adenovirus- which would at least explain the duration (2 weeks of hell). The infection had complications, turning my immune system against my own eye, which caused a corneal abrasion in one eye that has resulted in blurry vision. The experience has been awful, to say the least. I am in no rush to return to Philippines after this.

Yesterday I visited the Pattaya Bangkok Hospital on the advice of one of my lady friends and had an excellent experience. The facility is clean, expansive, up to all first world standards, and the staff and doctor were excellent, knowledgeable, and professional. My doctor calmed me and assured me the abrasion should likely heal within a week and was able to show me images on the monitor, etc. She also removed a protein membrane that had built up over the cornea and conjunctiva which was wild to see come out of my eye. Total damage for consult, removal and prescriptions was 3000 baht. I'm sure in a North American hospital it would've been at least 5 times this, and much more of a hassle. I was in and out like a breeze.

I was strictly ordered not to wear contact lenses, so for the next week or so I will be mongering with my coke bottle glasses, which is definitely a handicap, but then again it is low season so maybe it equals out. Nerds can be sexy too with enough baht.

Mostly I just wanted to post about my positive experience at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital in case other guys are in need of medical attention.

    You just never know?

Years ago when I was still cycling I would roam the Darkside, Sattahip, and Chon Buri, rides would average 45-60 KM, there were always dogs but I acted like they didn't exist just keep going pedaling. They have their territories but after a while just turn back there were times I hit the same route they wouldn't even bother. It is something dogs don't like that sparks them off? I use to make an annual ride before Hwy 7, was finished to Bangkok, took the same route as the Bus from Pattaya to Ekamai started in the early morning before dawn. I encounter plenty of dogs but never has one even come close to bitting me.

Outside my house surrounding small Soi at least 50 dogs spread throughout, one ugly mean sucker always slept under my renter's car he feed it so it would watch his car but he never looks or gave me a second look. After years, one day I was just walking past the car he jump out and bit the back of my leg as soon as it happened I knew broke the skin. The way he look I knew he never has had his shots being mad I went into the house and got my samurai sword it saw me coming and out into the empty field. The Thai neighbor drunks and potheads who sit out every day drinking and smoking look at me like why get mad " This is Thailand "? I went to the clinic got it cleaned went through the shots total cost was around 3000 baht. Months later the dog went into its rabies tantrum and bit a few kids and even one of the guys who thought it was funny when it happened to me. I pulled out a chair and watch the soap opera in the end I got the last laugh as for the dog they finally cornered it bye!

Two years down the road, due to the pandemic, the park near my house closed so I started to do my 3 K run on the road, the same road for the last year but I carry a pipe modified with a blade on the tip. The run is full of dogs but their bark has always as they say bigger than their bite. Like my cycling, they see bark and follow then turn around. I never stop, turn or even pay attention but this one house I pass every day has around 5 dogs days they come out some days don't but regardless just before I approach I slow down and just keep walking at a regular pace as if they weren't even there as always they turn back. But two months ago, as I was walking by saying Hello, to the Thai guard at the resort casino as always they came out barking did my normal stuff but after a few seconds I sense it and maybe the dog sensed it too, and then it happened bit me the back of the legs before I even look at the bite I swung the pipe around and just missed the head of the dog they all took off like a bat out of hell. I went to the house and called out for someone the brother of the owners came out and I told him what had happened with a few witnesses he said it had happened before. The sister who owns all the dogs was on a two-day working trip I told him I'm going to the clinic in two days I'll be back and we can talk about reimbursement of my expenses. That evening I took my son to confirm some things two days later we went back the owner came out, to be honest, what a stunner even at my age I was getting a hard-on? While she was talking I was thinking who is the lucky farang for the last two days. While she was apologizing and pleading that I allow her to compensate for all my troubles all I was thinking ST / LT do you do it bareback and let her work it off but I was with my son. From the beginning all I wanted was the money back from the clinic luckily I had records from the last bite and shots so didn't need to go through the full shots series again. She told my son the last farang demanded 10,000 baht or the police and she paid it but my price was only 1000 baht the bill of the clinic and a chance to dream it up? LOL.

Today, I back in the park?

Is there a specific area or venue where you saw them?

I was in Pattaya a few weeks ago. My buddy and I were walking to a French restaurant, L'Auberge, for dinner. Out of the blue, a pack of 4 dogs rushed towards us, ready to tear us apart. Luckily, both my buddy and I stopped on a dime and faced those dogs. Thank God they stopped too, within a couple of feet. Then slowly we both backed off and we were able to continue on our way. My buddy lives in Pattaya and told me that he encounters this situation on a regular basis.
