I've been reading literally the last 100 pages of the Medellin reports thread and learned almost nothing. It is amazing how many posts aren't even remotely useful to a new visitor. I always RTFF, but I feel like 100 pages should be enough. If there isn't actionable intelligence in 100 pages, then there should be an idiot's guide inserted every 100 pages.

Not sure if you know this, but there's an entirely separate thread about on Hotel M, but it's called Casa Blanca (former name of the hotel). Used to be more posts there, but not much in the last few years. Just looked and the last one was in March (asking if there was a robbery there).

I'm leaning toward the Mansion, since the social aspect of chatting with other mongers and the east access to a few girls during the afternoon while swimming in the pool sounds pretty optimal. No one mentioned how much they trust the management with their real name etc. Am I being paranoid? Are they trustworthy?

I've been staying at the Mansion for 6-8 years now about 3 x / year. I completely trust management with anything. They are organized and willing to help you with whatever. You do need to make reservations in advance to stay at M1 and not hop room to room. I make mine 6 mo and most times a year in advance to get my preferred room. I was just there this month for a week. There was from 6-12 chicas that hung at the pool during the afternoons and about 12-30 at night in the bar. Pretty good selection all shapes and sizes. ST runs about 200-250 k. What I like about the Mansion is that you can hang with like minded individuals between your sessions. Guys there are always making casa runs, strip club runs, and Parque Lleras late night. You can get all kinds of info just from Being with all the guys. Most are very friendly and eager to help first timers. The Mansion is also located in the middle of the financial district of Medellin, so most everything around it is a higher class. Tons of ATM's all around as well as 2 major malls within 6 blocks and tons of restaurants everywhere. Rooms there are average as mentioned, but clean and well maintained. Hope this helps you.

I've stayed at the Mansion many times. I've also stayed at hotels and apartments / AirbNBs. IMO the key factor in whether to stay at the Mansion is if you want fellow hobbyists to hang around with. If you don't need that, you're better off staying somewhere else where you get a nicer living space for less money. The talent of the women on average is nothing special, though I usually find one that I like. Once in a while, the bar is really good (eg the owner's birthday, which can be whenever he decides!), but frequently it's not that great. Of course staying there doesn't preclude one from going out to casas, strip clubs, Centro street scene, etc. Or having Facebook chicas come over.

I like the place as it provides me sort of a social structure. Have breakfast with like-minded guests and share info. You automatically have wingmen to hit a strip club or go out to dinner. I also know the staff and that makes me feel at home. If you need this type of sociable setting, it makes sense to stay there. If not (or if you're traveling with friends), there's no reason to stay there.

And I'll add that there are always a few guest that speak Spanish, including myself.

So, call me crazy or paranoid, but I am a little hesitant to give my real name at a hotel that is famous for mongering. I'm thinking about alternatives. After reading the last year of posts, it looks like Hotel Du Parc and Hotel Dann Carlton are pretty swanky and girl friendly (please pipe up if you have newer info that they are charging guest fees). Anyone willing to comment on the differences between staying at the Mansion versus picking one of these nicer hotels? Is the Mansion a nonstop party not to be missed, or is a discrete stay at a Du Parc or Dann Carlton a better choice? Will I be kicking myself for missing out on the Mansion? Are the girls so good there that I don't even need to leave the property? Or is it a low rent place with mediocre girls? If I snag prepagos girls and girls from Park Lleras and bring them back to Dann Carlton, will that be better? The price difference is not a factor for me. I want a peak experience. Which one would you pick?

I spent 30+/-minutes writing a response, and when I went to post, I got an error message and lost it all. F. So here's a shorter response. Mansion. Not a non-stop party unless you want it to nube, which means actually ordering girls via FB. At which po8 nt you might as well stay someplace nicer for the money. I like the ease of picking a girl. At the pool during the day (maybe 3-5), or at the bar at night (6-15). Quality varies, but I usually find at least one that works for me. But I will grade on a curve. Accommodations are, at best, ok. I like there are guys to hang with during down times. I don't always stay there, and some will denigrate the place. But it really depends on what your preferences are. It's relatively expensive, but easier.

I'm not a Mansion fan, but if it's your first time in Medellin AND if you are a poor Spanish speaker then it is worth starting there, even if for 2-3 days. Of note, there is M2 (Mansion 2) which is a separate house that they own up the hill (steep hill) maybe a 3-4 minute walk away. It also has a pool and is more low key and discrete. You will need to go to M1 (Mansion 1) the main house for checking in, breakfast, and girls. The rooms are overpriced, but it's a nice spot to get your feet wet and pick up some knowledge from others as well as find someone to do some hunting with.

The only times that I would say not to stay there is if it is the begging of the week, like Sunday to Tuesday as I don't think they'll have much action, if any.

I've never stayed at the Dann Carlton, but I understand it's girl friendly if you're not to crazy. Many other hotels don't allow more than one name and then charge you for a night, especially the western chains.

Buildings that tend to be more open are Energy, the San Pedro apartments, and Poblado Rentals.

I am not a fan of the mansion, but what you may be forgetting is that prostitution is completely legal in Colombia and you are doing nothing wrong.

I posted below and still having a hard time getting a sense for what I should book. Could someone give me advice? 4-6 weeks, willing to spend 4 k per month for lodging where I can work out of there, have guests freely and not just be at a hotel made for mongering. Would anyone have any recommendations on the area or specific links. Feel free to shoot me a message.

Maybe the Energy building or San Peter. Not sure if you mean 4 k pesos or dollars. But of note, $4 k in Colombia is like $12 k in the USA For lodging. Even on Airbnb you should be able to get a really nice set up in Poblado for < $2500/ mth. In Laureles for < $1500/ mth.

Since this is a mongering hotel, it would be more private to use my mongering name and email, but I assume they will require my passport / real name to check in. Thoughts?
