I don't think that Mexico trains its customer service to be friendly. I worked retail in college and a big part of the retail training in the US was friendliness. From my personal experience, I sometimes get great friendly service in Tijuana, and sometimes I get zero friendly customer service because the workers are more interested in sitting on their asses and surf their phones. Therefore, my opinion is that any lack of friendly customer service in Tijuana is caused by a lack of training rather than a cultural norm.

LOL bro isn't that just a Mexican cultural norm? To act completely unhappy to see a customer? I will let others who know both countries well have the final say. But yes from my Tijuana experience, and certain mom pop stores in San diego owned operated by Mexicans, it seems the Mexican culture is not to act friendly or happy to see the customer. Its all the hotels in Tijuana, and many of the restaurants unless the masero is desperate for customer. The funny thing is, the only 2 places I ever go in mexico where staff looks a little pleasant, is both burger king, or Carl's jr hamburger.

Maybe it's something you're doing or not doing. I get friendly service at Caesars, Ticuan, Rio Rita, Quinta, Baja, Aqua Rio, El Copeo, Lionfish, San Maree, Rubik's, Chicago, Tropical, Bar Reno, Rio Verde, Adelitas, Bar Korea, Ruta 3, Gloria's and even Hong Kong. I could list dozens more bars, hotels and restaurants so not sure how our experiences can be so different.

I think it depends on where you go. But in many in Tijuana, customer service is not a priority. We all need to use our dollar votes and go to places where the prices are reasonable & we get the best customer service.

The car was painted 3 weeks ago by Alejandro at Kali Kustom. Drove it down for polish and wax, arriving in La Zona about 1 PM. .
