Yeah, my experience is the same as yours. I've been stopped flying into both the Dominican Republic and Argentina when I had 3 laptops. In both cases I had: 1) work laptop, 2) personal laptop), and 3) US purchased laptop for friend. Thankfully none were in the original box and they let me pass along after looking through my stuff and me insisting they were all for me. I imagine things would be different if I had 40 iPhones though as no plausible deniability. For that reason I never bring more than one or two extra phones for friends and always older used models.

Perfect example of crabs in a barrel, men really need to treat each other better with the advent of mental health issues especially and a culture particularly in the US that tells women to see us as walking wallets this cdabs in a barrel stuff needs to stop.

Not that this is anything to rely on, but last time in El dorado I went through the x-ray the person was reading a book and not even really facing the scanner. At another airport they didn't care about a bag being 3 kg over the weight limit.

How are you able to bring in 40 phones at a pop? I've brought them, laptops, rare scotch in and re-sold to friends, but I always understood the limit was 3 or 4 phones before they tax you on the remainder. My luggage is also scanned 90% of the time. Am I missing something?

Having no trouble finding guest friendly airbnbs near Parque LLaras. Usually a 50 k to 70 k fee. Going to book in the next couple of days. My question is, is the Parque area the best to be in for pure sex? Any hotels in the area that are guest friendly. I read that extra guest fees may apply but get no straight answer on how much or how many I can have. Also is there a particular slang for anal sex in Medellin?

Parque Lleras sucks. The park is under construction, the girls are still there, but not as many as before, be ready to pay 4-6 times El Centro rates (aka gringo rates). Talent is average or below average. Good luck!

This looks much better than the chicken stand behind Veracruz Church or La Raza in the Nutibara. But serously, Sambombi is a winner, especially since they upgraded their wine list. El Botanico up the street next door to oci. Mde is really popular with tourists and punters. The food isn't nearly as good as Sambobmi or oci but no one will give a second glance no matter what kind of street urchin you bring in there. So it's a better choice for certain situations. I have to get more organized like you Surfer so I can reserve in advance and get a table at Sambombi. I usually default to Ammazza or Rocoto if I'm with a date and I can't get at table. You are right that the clientele is mostly Colombian. They get a fair amount of gringos who are foodie types rather than the random party crowd that are drawn like moths to a flame to whichever joint has the loudest DJ. Truth be told, most of the establishments in Provenza are bars or fast food joints that all blend into a blare of reggaeton and salsa. There are however 10 or so high quality spots like Sambombi.

Saturday I decided to spend the night in Provenza with one of my Chicas whom I call Tall because she is tall. I like others her have nicknames as well for my Chicas based on their attributes.

I booked a room in a boutique hotel in Provenza of which there are a lot of them all over the area. I've stayed in several of them and consider a lot of them to be Love Hotel's, not in the sense you rent them for short time, but some are totally set-up for fucking meaning there is a king size bed, flat-screen TV, and aircon. Some of them have lots of mirrors, and I especially like the see thru showers at some of them. Kind of like perhaps Deseo's in Centro over half a century ago as far as the latest and greatest. I wonder some times if any of the mirrors on the ceilings there have ever fallen off, I'm sure they have. I've taken Tall to Provenza before, and the first time she was asking me what the mini-split AC unit was, what the exhaust fan in the bathroom was, and in one new place what the fire sprinkler system was. Of course she loved shampooing her hair, with hot water, and had never used a hair dryer before on her long beautiful hair..

Does anyone here consider giving in its truest sense, when you really should not be concerned with the outcome? What if giving makes the giver intrinsically happy? Then, haven't they "profited"? Does there have to be a direct material benefit and result on your "investment"? Who says there has to be an ROI (Return on Investment) to justify the giving? An so on, and so on. . . Aren't these all personal decisions?

Now as Oste likes to say, Pollo, you are a true business man, I we have a running joke between us both. I just like to earn money when it is right in my face. So, imagine for every $25 usd you spend, someone pays you $175-$200 usd and you are saving them more than 50% on the price of the item in Colombia.

I won't beat a dead horse or explain the obvious, but there are some of us who are having a ton of fun in Medellin at a minimal price. I have been traveling to Colombia for 5 years, I now own a home, motorcycle, soon to buy a car, and who knows what is next. I paid attention, learned, paid my dues and stayed within the laws of Colombia and Medellin. If the loss of a couple of cell phones will have your underwear in a not, maybe you shouldn't be in the mongering game. You win some and you lose some. But you don't have to call your friendly board member a lie, because you are not able to accomplish what he is! Pollo Negro is out!

If you want to give away new $600 phones by all means do so. The critiques are simply aimed to introduce doses of reality for the reading audience. ......And not everyone who refuses to buy $600 gifts for hookers is pinching pennies, far from it, so scratch that one.

P.S. .......It's usually the pretenders that toss money around to draw attention to themselves, are constantly telling everyone how well to do they are, .....

While I don't think this is the case with Osteoknot, I will say that there is plenty of this behavior going on, particularly in Cartagena (look for 'making it rain' videos). It will become more widespread in Medellin before long, I'm sure.

I have never heard of an Airbnb charging a chica fee. I think guests are either allowed, or not. There are various posts in this thread and in the "User blogs" section mentioning hotels and their guests policies.

The Mansion is the only hotel in Medellin similar to the gringo hotels in San Jose.

The whole "machismo" aspect of "I get girls to fuck for free with just my hard cawkkkk". Feels strong in this thread. There are those that seem well edtablished with evidence but like I said before the whole crabs in a barrel feeling between men is quite powerful which I find extremely obnoxious. There will never be a time when the average ham and egger 9 to 5 er in America will be like "lets go to Colombia" Because in any war torn country of the past there will always be dangers and 95 % of Americans or even Western Europeans can't handle an environment without extremely government over regulation to protect them from thier own stupidity and familiarity with a McDonalds to spoon feed them at every corner particularly in the US.

So this idea of needing to keep 2nd teir specific safety knowledge a secret aside from general knowledge is stupid. Obviously, there is 1st tier generalized safety knowledge but in an environment where crime is rampant and to a certain extent idealized. 2nd tier specific knowledge is invaluable.

So go, get robbed, tell us where it happened, and we will have more 'second tier specific safety knowledge. ' Or you could RTFF. You say you find people on this thread 'obnoxious. ' So why don't you take a hike?
