Try to get a new passport

I carry a European passport so I am visa exempt, the only problem is that my passport has less than the 6 months validity. I read on some forums that if I have a return to my home town, that should be fine. That being said I don't want to get stranded in the airport and needing to do last minutes change should I not be allowed in, not to mention any penalties that could be applied. Does any one know how the immigration deal with that or has gotten through a similar situation?

    Thanks!
This is from the Thai Embassy website.

    Passport Validity / Visas.

The first thing to check before planning to travel to Thailand is the validity of your passport. International travel requires that your passport is not expiring within six months of your travel date. If you have less than six months left on your passport, you cannot enter Thailand.

Six months left in your passport won't be fine at all. Less than a week ago my work colleague got refused entry as she had less than 12 months left in her passport when she tried to get through immigration. It might depend of the diligence of the immigration officer, but I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

Citadines Soi 11 - Open, Closed, or What?

Has this hotel re-opened? In most of the videos of Soi 11, often times this hotel appears to be closed. The bar in the front of the hotel was closed during Covid and no replacement appears to have been installed. Also, the restaurant in the hotel does not seem to be listed in any descriptions of the hotel. Does anyone know of what the status of this hotel is? Thanks for any information you may provide!

    Soi 11 Hotels

I wonder if the new Grand Swiss is girl-friendly.

I liked the amazing breakfast choices at the pre-covid Grand Swiss.

Does anyone know if the nearby Grand Business Inn is girl-friendly? (The name might incline one the draw this conclusion.).
Grand Business was girl friendly pre-covid.

Grand Swiss entrance was a pile of rubble last week. It will be a while before it reopens as the Oakwook. Agoda shows it sold out in September but I'm sure the hotel isn't operating.

If you bring a girl and you want to go straight to the room, no ID no problem. If you prefer to tell the girl she needs to leave her ID at the reception, they will take her ID for your security. If it's an escort coming from outside by herself (without you by her arm), they must take her ID before they escort her into your room.

All in all, I think a fine arrangement. On top of that, the hotel is conveniently located and classy enough to impress the girls into giving you above-average service and lingering longer than they strictly need to in order to bask in the luxury of your presence.
I like that hotel a lot; stayed with family so I didn't have any guests but I absolutely saw ladies coming and going solo, so didn't seem to be a problem at all.

I have stayed and played at the Westin across the street, and I has no issues there. It was several years ago but if memory serves, I met one escort in the lobby, and brought take-out home from bars a few times, and no ID checks for any of them.

    O. P., Between the two (using your Marriott points), I much prefer the Sheraton. It's a bit old school (some might think dated), but it's classier, rooms are bigger, it's quieter (absolutely zero street noise, which wasn't the case at the Westin). The Westin is nice enough, but has the feel of a cookie-cutter hotel that's been re-carpeted with "edgy" patterns, given funky furniture, and now deemed trendy and upscale. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's not the same level as the Sheraton IMO.

    Grand Swiss permanently closed

For Soi 11 lovers I want to mention the Grand Swiss hotel near the Sukhumvit end of Soi 11 is permanently closed and being redeveloped into something else. I liked staying here because of its proximity to Sukhumvit and their good breakfast buffet.

Yes it is on ground level to the right of the entrance. This is the normal location for the breakfast buffet. Cost is B300. If staying at Mercure the cost is B250.
