This response is for everyone visiting Hungary.

Generally no one accepts US dollars in Hungary, so just change your money to forints in a reputable exchange office and before you leave the country nothing prevents you changing them back to dollars again.

When do you take your trip? My suggestion, look at opening a Wise account before your trip. Formerly transferwise, you can set up balances in like 30 plus currencies, and get a debit card.
