I have spent 8 nights in Batam one week ago. My first trip there after COVID. My last visit was on January 2020.
Sorry, I have no time and no more enthusiasm as years ago, when I was writing day-by-day series of long reports in BP style.
If you want to check my reports on the RoD, scroll back several years: http://www.internationalsexguide.nl/...of-Distinction.
My last report there is from 2015. If it wasn't for what happened with COVID, I would say most advices are still valid.
Overall, things are ok but quieter than before.
I see many shops and restaurants closed, including my favourite place for Ikan Bakar (named Jakarta Ikan Bakar) on Jalan Bonjol down the mosque at the entrance of Nagoya Hill. Sad. I hope they will reopen it before I go back to Batam.
Things are recovering. It is still a fun place, but it will take time to be back as it was, I believe.
FOOD COURTS
Windsor is sad, less restaurants, less people, more expensive than other Food Courts.
I recommend Nagoya Food Court, somewhere behind Formosa, not far from Newton.
Cheaper than Windsor, full of people till late, good food, better and more varied than in Windsor.
Other good places to try are A2 (Penuin) and 168, which I have never tried but I heard good things.
MY IMPRESSIONS
During my 8 nights and 9 days, I was bored often, with some special highlights to remember now and then. I had my work to do, so I was bringing my laptop to Nagoya Hill to work watching girls passing by.
I never went to NED (still there), but I went to many pubs / clubs including Square, F1, HolyWings and Planet 3, and to discos Newton and Pacific (Pacific reopened the disco again! After many years!! HURRAH!!)
Normal office girls met at pubs, sexy dressed for a night of fun dancing and drinking? Nearly nobody.
Much less regular girls in pubs than before Covid. I guess that economy crisis hit hard. Normal people has less to spend, and therefore they do not go to pubs, which are really expensive for the local standard. A cocktail may cost up to 150k, which is 10 USD. One can have a good dinner in Batam for that!
This is my main sorry about this visit to Batam. I missed this type of encounters!
Discos: this is still the best place to go and hunt. Newton and Pacific have different styles, so different people will be there.
Best encounters during my 8 days:
1) A girl in Newton, which later I found to be one of the dancers. A really sweet good girl. We did not play sex, but had nice time together also next days. I took her out for dinner. Yes, I enjoy meeting nice people even without bed time.
2) A golf caddy in Pacific. Really new and clean girl. Starfish in bed, but pretty and young. Unspoiled good girl. Her friend was worried and left her to me but recommending "HEY YOU MUST GIVE HER MONEY OK??"
3) Old friends from past years.
4) A girl from Hallo Kitty (go there! Expensive, but probably the best place to relax). I found myself in Pacific with a group of those HK girls partying after the work place was closed.
In the past, I was used to get a new girl every day or even 2 a day. Things are more quiet now in Batam.
Still I am happy I spent my time in Batam, and I cannot wait to be back again.
DISCOS
Fortunately, there are still discos in Batam! Not for the beginner, not for the faint heart, but an experience for the seasoned traveller who wants to see real people off circuits where tourists go.
Before reading further, ask yourself: do you know what is a "disco" in Indonesia? No, it is not a club, not a disco bar, not a pub. It is a place where conversation is impossible, the techno is so loud to kill healthy ears, the darkness is so deep you cannot be sure if you speak to a pretty or a ugly girl. I have never seen a single white man there over years.
NEWTON.
The last real disco in Batam, as described above. Hard Indo techno music, dark, very dark (as it has been used to be before COVID), but much less people as before. This also means that there are working girls, but less pretty and less in number than before. To check next year, if it recovers to the old glory.
PACIFIC.
Lighter electronic music, less dark, conversation is even possible, nice beer girls going around taking orders.
Tables are the same as in the old glorious times, but the area of the hall is about half. There is not the balcon for the "light engineer" girl ovelooking the hall anymore.
More people than in Newton, less drugs (no drug, I'd say), nicer people, nicer girls.
PLANET 3 (HH CLUB).
Forget it, if you want a disco. It was a good disco, but now not a disco anymore. They converted it to a club with electronic music, not dark, tables, with a bunch of sexy PR girls available (I think for drinking, not for booking, at least that is the starting menu. Sure, if one is handsome, has charme and has cash, anything is possible in Batam).

Posts: 491Batam as a break away from Singapore
Hi guys,
I'm on a 3 week working visit to Singapore next November, in between I can spare four days dedicated to mongering. Options are either an hour flight to Bangkok or a short trip to Batam. But I'm a newbie to Indonesia therefore I might find it uneasy to settle quickly.
Is the scene as easy as Pattaya and Bangkok? Cheers.

Thanks, this is really helpful.
I had tried spa- but its too short.
Tried club. Expensive.
Booking joints - 1. 7 to 2 million, but dint find worthy.
Local girlfriend- resist for sex, only oral for night.
May be need some guidance to get good deal on good looking FL.

A newbie without experience is a small fish, therefore needs to be very considerate and wary. Step by step, one learns his way. Before crossing Amazonas, one should train hiking in a small park.
Said this, those guys (who I have never seen before covid, but I well imagine) may take you to a good place, but most likely the place is good only for those who have no clue and therefore need a guide and therefore are due to overpay for less.

Suggested way for a newbie: spa for FS short time, booking joint for LT booking or short time, pubs and clubs for FLs.
