Where I am from it is absolutely illegal to have marijuana, but the district attorney has given police instructions to look the other way when someone has weed because they will not prosecute if someone has less than a certain amount, so everywhere you go you can smell illegal marijuana on people. Just obsessed, it's quite pathetic. I'm glad there are intelligent posters here such as LatinaLover and Zeos that can provide feedback and constructive criticism without the attacks. It's unfortunate that there's posters like Marquis here, who attack another poster just for writing a report. These needless attacks make enemies for no reason. And reveal his level of intelligence and maturity.

So right now, I'd like to provide a little more in-depth look at my thought process throughout this ordeal.

You have not proven that ride sharing is legal. You have only said because you think and feel it can not be illegal that it is legal. You are in the minority, so how about proving yourself right.

Nobody ever said the government did not know about it. Please quote where you saw someone write that. In third world countries there are things that are illegal that are tolerated and there are gray areas. They will not bust you for something today then bust you for that same thing tomorrow. That is what you are failing to understand.

In Thailand the law says that you must wear a helmet when riding a motorbike. 800 people can ride by the police with no helmet on, then when number 801 rides by without a helmet they pull them over and give them a ticket. Just because tons of people are seen doing it with no penalty does not make it legal.

You have nothing to apologize for with the restaurants. Colombian restaurants have three condiments: ketchup, mustard, and Pepto Bismol.

Yeah, what you did was dumb but I get why you did what you did. It is easy for us to sit here and criticize you but much harder when you are looking at this girl you care about (and you think she cares about you), and you help her out. I get the thought process: trying to be a nice person, helping her out, and maybe score a few points, but you know what you are telling her really? I underpaid for your pussy. I've probably logged 100 times as many hours in 3rd world countries in the past 10 years as you have. Trust me, I know 3rd world environments at least as well as you do. In Mexico, in homes with no hot water, they use a metal stick heater. It's a metal coil, about a foot long, and you plug it in. You submerge the metal part into a bucket of water and it heats it up. It actually works pretty well. They cost around $5 usd at any hardware store. I've attached a photo of this fantasy made-up water heater that is never used "no matter how cold it is outside. ".

Kinda boring TR about my personal experiences in Bogota with very little puta info.

Anyhow, I actually had one InDriver tell me to pay him while inside the car because the cops will fine him / impound his vehicle because ridesharing is illegal. This is why some of you pass on false info about ridesharing being illegal, because the local population which has a 2nd grade education believes it. But come on guys, with a Western education and an ounce of common sense you would know that no way in hell could you operate a business that big illegally. No way on Earth it is possible to run a multi trillion peso industry illegally without the government finding out about it and cutting access to its servers. I believe that the cops tell rideshare drivers that their work is illegal, in hopes of being offered a large bribe in order to avoid their car being impounded. And the drivers believe it because it is such a common tactic. Perhaps some who refuse to bribe actually get their car impounded, but not solely for being a rideshare. The cops tack on bullshit charges in order to justify the impound.

Lastly, some financial info that may be of benefit to some. The casas de cambio at the airport all suck. During my trip, interbank was around 4400/1. The casa at BOG baggage claim was offering 4000. There were a couple of casas outside baggage claim and they were at 4000 and 3550. There is a casa de cambio in Chico Norte, across from Escuela Militar Granada, where all the bank towers are. I had been changing money there for $4000-$4100. Right outside Parque 93 there is a tall office tower. On the first floor there are a handful of casa de cambios. I got 4130 there the same day the Granada cambio offered $4000. Still a ripoff but not as bad as the airport. Also, when I paid for dinner tab was $370 k. I paid with my credit card and was offered to charge in pesos or $90 dls. I quickly whipped out my phone calculator to crunch the numbers but there is some sort of time limit. After a few seconds, the machine automatically chose dollars for me. I've probably logged 100 times as many hours in 3rd world countries in the past 10 years as you have. Trust me, I know 3rd world environments at least as well as you do. In Mexico, in homes with no hot water, they use a metal stick heater. It's a metal coil, about a foot long, and you plug it in. You submerge the metal part into a bucket of water and it heats it up. It actually works pretty well. They cost around $5 usd at any hardware store. I've attached a photo of this fantasy made-up water heater that is never used "no matter how cold it is outside. ".

And about ridesharing in Colombia. No way it's illegal. Again, you think that Uber / Didi / InDriver can give a million rides a day without the government finding out about it? Somehow, the government is just oblivious to all the millions of rides being given? When the feds approach from down the street, does the Uber office turn off the lights and cover their logo with a bedsheet, and it fools the feds into thinking they're closed? What's your reasoning for the feds not cutting access to ridesharing servers if they're operating illegally?

That Exito story actually sounds like something I would have done in Tijuana. I explained above why exactly I was more tolerant with this particular chica. Also, I wanted to immerse myself more and learn about daily Colombian life. So if I had cut her off abruptly, then my learning would have immediately ceased with no other immediate options available.
