Hi guys,

Hope this is the right thread to post.

Every trip, I've had lots of hassles with Globe sim cards.

(Rather than paying expensive international roaming charges, I generally buy a sim card for a spare phone that I just use in the PH and for whatsapp).

Any advice on alternatives and experiences would be appreciated.

Depends on the area. One province Smart may have the best signal, while Globe might be stronger elsewhere. Often the difference in signal strength is substantial. How ever, this shouldn't be a issue in the big centers, MNL, CEB etc. They are the two big players.

I don't make any ISD calls. Everyone I call back home has WhatsApp which only uses data and often hotel WiFi rather than load. The few family that don't have WhatsApp know that I'll be away and don't expect a call for a while. If you're calling landlines for business, there are a few apps that can do this eg Google Voice.

What kind of trouble are you talking about?

I use smart. Smart has an eSim you can buy but it needs to be activated in country you can complete the registration after you activate the sim and use the smart app on the app store to top up your load with a credit card.

The Magic Data never expires which is why I go this route however you need to add load periodically to keep the sim active which is the fine print.

In country you can load "All Net 299" which will give you unlimited text and talk which should cover a 30 day trip for 1147 php about $20 USD and mostly likely you won't spend all that data but I like to have that data as insurance.

I In Qatar you get seven years in prison for having sex with a prostitute so that may put a damper on things. I guess there isn't a lot of spill over to places like Dubai.

Thanks. I wasn't aware of this. It certainly would want to be the fuck of the century to make up for it.

I guess Qatar has so many direct flights that guys don't need to transit in Dubai etc so there is no point in the girls going there to wait for them.

Valid points. Most of the girls I'm talking about don't / no longer consider themselves hookers. They certainly no longer need bars or hourly hookups. Think Sugar Babies or girls with lots of wealthy "friends" who give her lots of "gifts".
