This is my 18 month survey of Rio and Brazil in answer to to Mr Smith and more generally for others. For starters, Brazil is below the equator, so July / August is winter in Rio. Meaning low 70's, so pretty mild.

The metro is your friend and I've enclosed a map. Whilst there are luxury buses from Barra and the touristy places, the traffic is bad. I like the subway for that reason, and because it is clean, cheap and frequent. The line you need is the yellow line (line 4) opened in 2016 running from Jardim Ocenico, So Conrado, Gvea, Antero de Quental, Jardim de Alah, Nossa Senhora the Paz / Siqueira Campos (Copacabana) from where you can connect to lines taking you into Centro where there are hundreds of brothels, clubs and so on.

The rundown is something like this. Barra (Jardim Ocenico) is a upper middle class wannabe place sort of like Miami but without the trash, split in half by a polluted lagoon. Make sure you are on the beach side. It tends to keep out the beggars and human flotsam. It features Club 400 (Av. Sernambetiba 400) aka the Yellow House, RJ Massagem and a ton of private girl apartments found on the usual websites like photoacompanhantes and muraldopraze. Plenty of beach accommodation. Pria Da Joatinga is a lovely spot with some cliffside places you could book direct for an extended stay. Don't feed the middlemen scumbags in Silicon Valley either your data or money.

The line heads east to Ipanema where all the malls and middle class comforts are. What you want an your tastes and budget come into play. I bought a somewhat run down villa and garden the hills in Joa that is pretty much jungle with great ocean views and a personal harem with live in caretakers/drivers/maids. I've mostly grown out of squalid tourist fuck hutches except for talent recruitment. There are hundreds of micro brothels in Centro in high rises, about BRL 100 - 150 an hour (as of today, 5. 16 USD or about USD 20-40). PRACTICAL MATTERS

Get yourself a SIM when you get here and have them activate it. Buying bus tickets and so on online is a real pain unless you get a magic number from the government. I assume they do this to stop tourists spending money, or is the typical government cockamamie designed to surveil, frustrate and vex the population, though I suppose it is good underwriting tax receipts for the consumption of goods and services. Also, get a Charles Schwab and Capital One debit / ATM card. They rebate ATM fees and have a decent exchange rate with no foreign transaction rip-off fee. Be warned that Capital One latter randomly freezes accounts (for your protection they claim) when you go more than about 10 miles from your usual place. Then they might try and call you, and because you are necessarily outside of the USA, never hear from them, with the typical crushing lack of logic by fucked up retail banks and their trigger happy denial of YOUR money. This usually happens at 3 am when ordering an UBER or similar, such as paying a restaurant bill for friends.

The more card backup the better. Never trust US banks. Assume one or more cards will fail and involve hours of call center bullshit and the most canned insincere apologies and being told the massive inconvenience is all for your benefit. On the other hand, Citibank is pretty good if you get a premium package.

Rio is safe, just don't wear fancy watches or clothes or costly phones. By all means keep an credit card and say BRL 500 cash. Cards are taken in most places. Get yourself a cheap second hand phone for sex travel and never keep real data on it. Separate your life. That's good advice generally with apps, assume all smartphone data will be compromised be deliberate design. Rio has everything, black, brown, white, skinny, busty, young and experienced cougars, the choice is ridiculous. You can have a super busty black girl, a Grace Jones or a pale redhead and everything in between. When I used to travel I budgeted (per day) $200 for food and hotels and $100, so about $USD9 k for a month of total debauchery and fine dining. But you can at least chop that in two with not much effort.

You will have a lot of fun at first, but bring some work, reading material or something to learn or do (like languages), because after a few days you will be nutted out, or rather the brain reward center saturated. There are direct flights to Europe across the Atlantic, such as to Frankfurt, Paris & Amsterdam. USA is typically via Miami, New York, Houston, Atlanta & Washington DC. Airlines are currently running full to capacity, so pick midweek, be sure to have your address prominently displayed INSIDE checked bags, bright ribbon, chalk mark etc on the outside and maybe a tracking tile for when (not if) they lose / delay your bag.

Lastly, have fun and enjoy beautiful, available, fun young women in their prime and leave behind the neurotic fat, entitled American heifers, jack booted cops, rip off health care, guns, homelessness and puritanical garbage. Long time viewer and first post, sorry. I'm looking to stay in Rio for about a month in July or August, and want a place where I can have different girls over all the time.
