Just a short FR from my experience on JKF.

This is probably not the way to go if your language skills are not up to par. Not only do you need to be somewhat able to read chinese itself when navigating, but contacting the girl / GTO is all in Mandarin as well.

Went on the JKF site and navigated to the 5 Flower 8 Door massage section and chose the area I wanted. Most of the girls seem to be in the 5 Woods / Zhongshan and Wanhua / Ximending areas. Was also able to find a list of reviews of different girls in the Zhongshan area. A lot of the reviewers also have photos of the girl, with the face barely blurred out. It's not so much that the location was the same hotel, more that the image shared was the identically cropped screenshot from google search or whatever. Anyway, I will proceed on that one with caution. I've since begun conversations with many other providers staying at various locations around the city so it's a bit more believable. Many of them are in town for just a few days (so they say) but in general the conversations seem credible and perhaps even a little desperate.

When I ask what is the worst that could happen I'm trying to avoid the complacency on my end of assuming that Taiwan is so much safer than everywhere else (namely America). I do figure that from a LE standpoint, it seems less of a concern here than in the US. Less enforcement and less repercussions if caught. From a robbery standpoint, it seems far less likely that a Taiwanese scam / trap would result in physical harm, and the amount of money to be robbed is less as well. So in my mind, worst that could happen is a slap on the wrist from police OR give away all the cash in my pockets which won't be TOO much. Am I naive and mistaken? Missing something?

I visited Taiwan in mid March and noticed that many people wore masks and it was still mandatory on the train system as I traveled around the country via trains. There were also many more people wearing masks than in a Thailand where my trip originated. However, in the US, Dr. Fauci is being criticized heavily for recommending masks during the height of the pandemic.

The restrictions of mandatory mask-use in Taiwan are receding in most public places. Public buses no longer require masks, but out of habit, fear and security, most citizen still wear them.

On the streets, most girls don't wear them, so their smiles and pretty faces are not obliterated. But, sure, you can always wear your mask like most people do. It might help to hide your identity and make you feel more anonymous. Certainly a good idea. Most of the time I wear masks to give others comfort, although not required.

In the rooms now since the fear has subsided and mask restrictions lifted, most girls have abandoned them. But, you will never be thought odd wearing your mask, anywhere, since mask-wearing is ubiquitous, and a very common preference.

Side note: These locations do not have an actual storefront like Vietnamese or Thai he massages you can find here in Taipei. It's usually just a inconspicuous building. You can also make an appointment with a girl in advance, but if you do so, you will not be able to change girls if you show up and she is not to your liking. I'd suggest going and picking in person the first time so you can see all the girls. Prices are $2600-3100 depending on the girl, for 1 hour with just a basic back massage into a handjob.
