I'm going to give you a 4 out of 10.

Main points of consideration:

Negative:

1) Lack of chemistry. Did not find out beforehand if you would hit it off.

2) Went to Rosarito. Kind of boring. Especially since with the money you dropped you could just as well have upgraded to Cancun or some other place.

3) Too much taxi. Take your car to Rosarito.

4) Not a party girl. Boring.

5) Talked about other dudes?? I hate that.

Positive:

1) Got BBFS and a fair amount of sex (This is the only positive. If not for this I would have given you a 1).

Pointers:

1) Find a local girl. No flying her in. Especially on the first "date".

2) Rosarito is mostly for day trips. Not for longer stays.

3) You will be held hostage not having a car there, since it's not really a tourist mecca. Also, with a car you can easily make a side trip to Ensenada and Puerto Nuevo, wine routes, etc.

-given it was my first time, I elected to skip driving my own car and just took taxis.
-apparently UBER is not allowed directly at Tijuana airport. You have to walk outside of AIRPORT grounds to get an UBER. Given the chica had been waiting 45 min, I skipped the walk and just took a cab.
-Rosarito taxis are a complete rip-off. But managed to find a cab driver who spoke a little english and gave me his number and was always johnny on the spot.
*Tips*.
-first timers, I think ubers or cabs are pretty easy if you have no experience like myself. MX car insurance would have cost me $85-90 anyways.
-if there is a next time, I will drive my car. There were plenty of CA license plates on the road towards Rosarito. (or maybe a rental... cuz maybe a porsche isn't a good idea in Baja... no flex intended)
**Total $ = $160 ish?
-Tijuana Airport Las Olas Grand = $60.
-Daily trips to Restaurants = $40.
-Las Olas Grand Tijuana = $60.

Food:
-almost in totality. The food was OK at best. Especially if you live in SOCAL where the mexican food is ALREADY great & other cuisines automatically better.
-I'd give it a 5/10. But then again I'm from NY and living in LA right now. And while great food would have been nice. It wasn't my #1 priority haha.
-Chica didn't have much experience in Rosarito and so didn't have any recommendations.
-I just picked seemingly 'safe' options with nice views and good reviews on tripadvisor, yelp, etc.

-do as much research ahead of time if possible if its important to you. If you know locals, they'd probably know best.

Airbnb / Las Olas Grand:
-View was fantastic. Pools, jacuzzis, all decent enough.
-By no means was this a 5 start resort. FAR from it. So don't expect the Ritz.
-But it was incredibly calming to fall asleep to the sound of the Ocean and away from the craziness that is Tijuana / HK.

-book away from holidays so its cheaper.
-lots of normies there, so if you're an older gentleman with a young chica. Don't be surprised if you get looks. I blended in more I think because I'm 31 with a 25 chica. But even then I got some looks occasionally considering I'm asian and she's mexican.

Well I would say from my visit last year and the years before when living in Tijuana that the bars and clubs are open and full with all ages in the afternoon and early evening. Later at night places like Papas and Beer cater to the younger crowds. Most weekends in the summer they will have special musical guests to perform.

When I went last year the place had a nice mix of young people and families. If your an old guy alone later at night you might fill out of place but nobody's going to care.

Don't listen to those that try to talk about how dangerous someplace is when they only spend time in HK. First off any cartel issues would be in the eastern part of the city where most people live not the tourist zone. Secondly this is one of the most popular weekends for Rosarito with the holiday and how warm it is lots of people will be headed to the beach. Your a young guy and it's a good time for your first visit since the place will be full of people having fun and the clubs will be rocking. Hopefully you take your girl out to Papas and Beer or some of the other bars. Rosarito is slow and relaxed most of the year but the summer is when they make most of their money and they have lots to do. Ride horses on the beach if I remember they have some new zip line place, they use to have jet ski rentals or just rent a table for the day and hang out drinking on the beach or at the bars.

As far as safety tips you have nothing really to worry about, the only issue might be if you bring your car but it seems like you are not driving. The cops only bug those driving so if your just walking around your fine. I wouldn't carry large amounts of cash just what you need at that time the rest should stay in your room. The northern part of the city doesn't have much to offer so I'd just stay in the tourist zone which is basically the Rosarito Beach Hotel and just a few blocks north of that. As far as your girl goes I know your not in love and I understand just getting away from HK.
