    2 FA, Airplane noise, hotel

Stayed at Bourbon So Paulo Ibirapuera Convention Hotel *in Moema. In my opinion, THE most important consideration when staying in Moema is soundproof rooms. I can confirm the rooms are soundproof. I stayed at other places in Moema including Airbnb, suites, and apartments, and regret not checking first about the soundproof room. Waking up at 0600 am sharp because the small jets taking off from CGH suck.

Bourbon is a damn busy business hotel with meetings and families. My criteria were peaceful sleep over taking chicas and garotas back to the room. I did clinicas. The superior room is as good as the Executive room. I never woke up in time for breakfast nor care about it. The front desk is competent, busy people, and the day shift: and night shift need retraining.

After a serious night of drunken partying at Scandallo at 0400 am I left my iPhone in the Uber. Realized it when got to the hotel room. To recharge iPhone. Frak, many of the apps including Uber require 2 FA by mobile phone number. I had no alternate way to sign in from my laptop due to 2 FA. That sucked. Finally found one of my old email accounts with no 2 FA to sign in, emailed, and alerted Uber.

Very good customer service response by Uber. The driver woke up at 0500 am to bring back my iPhone. The stupid night shift at the hotel told him I wasn't there in the hotel, they did not know the name, blah, blah. The driver went back home with my phone. I nearly blew a gasket after finding out he returned to the hotel at 0500 an and the night shift turned him away. Over the next 24 hours, frantic trying to reconnect with the Uber, driver.

After a while, I said frak it walked over to Prime on Sunday afternoon to console myself with a Duplo with Karen and Camilla. Damn, Camilla is great. A deepthroat sloppy BBBJ skills. I used cash as always. Could not risk getting the occasional text of a security verification alert while using a credit card. After an exhausting session walked to the hotel. Checked with the front desk.

Lo and behold my iphone was returned. The dayshift team smartly figured if a Uber driver is returning an expensive iPhone the person will show up. I gave the front desk gal a big hug, then immediately signed into my apps to turn off the 2 FA for text or mobile and kept only sending by email.

The phone and data were backed up, of course, the 2 FA was a frustrating part about losing my iPhone and those incompetent night shift team for not accepting the damn iPhone when the driver returned the first time.

    Charlie apartments

Got an Executive Suite for around $115 (includes breakfast). Very spacious room with a table for food and a desk for laptop.

There is a new chain of flats that has been opening up around Moema, Itaim, Vila Nova Conceio, Olimpia that I considered staying. It's called Charlie. Their prices are very good (like $50-$70 range) and some of the rooms / apartments in the picture look pretty decent some with a full fridge and kitchen sink. I may try one on the second part of my stay.
I have looked at these with interest for my next visit. Has anyone used them and can report on girl friendly or not? I stayed at an airbnb in Pinheiros last trip and had to sneak the girls in.

    The SP Hyatt

I just spent a fair amount of time at the Hyatt SP on my recent trip and I can assure you they are guest friendly. Most of the time I was able to walk my girls straight to the elevators and up to my room, but a couple of times the girl had to show her ID at the front desk. To be safe make sure you book for 2 persons.

Hyatt positives: it is a real 5 star and one of the best hotels in SP, CENTRAL HEAT in every room, nice pool & garden although it is a little loud from highway traffic, ample and well-appointed rooms, good breakfasts and late-night room service, a friendly staff, and very attractive rates are occasionally made available for Hyatt members. I stayed there pretty cheap!

Hyatt negatives: location, location, location. Not only is it a long ride to places like Scandallo, but the neighborhood surrounding the hotel is commercial and very uninteresting. There is a big fancy mall 4 or 5 blocks away, but the Hyatt neighborhood vibe is a big fat zero compared to staying in the Itaim Bibi or Jardin neighborhoods. The view from those Hyatt rooms facing north is iconic.

The bottom line is I like this hotel and it is one of my favorite hotels in SP despite its location.

If I were thinking of spending a great time with a pretty girl, I would very easily absorb any extra charge and enjoy myself rather than thinking about the extra 30 USD which I can save when I get back to USA by drinking less hahaha. But that is my take on it.

How was your experience with airplane noise? I know this hotel is directly in the flight path for the airport as you can look up and see (and hear) the airliners. I'm considering staying here the next time I'm in Sao Paulo, but I won't do it unless and until I'm convinced airplane noise is not an issue with their rooms. Others have said it isn't. What was your recent experience?

Transamerica isn't responding via email and couldn't get through by phone.
Marriott Executive Apartments is not really close to anything (that I am aware of). Its main benefit is central location and no problems having girls come in with me.

Others can add information about stuff close?

Every time I have stayed there since 2018 there have been English speaking attendants at the font desk. Usually female. They have been very helpful.

    Mercure Ibirapuera Privilege Hotel

I recently stayed at this hotel. I liked the rooms and the buffet breakfast. The employees were friendly and checkin and checkout were very smooth. The Wi-Fi was adequate. I got speeds in the 20 - 30 Mbps range when I ran a speed test. The area is very safe and there are many nice restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. The big drawback to this place is the noise from planes flying in and out of the local domestic airport. The noise starts on most days around 7 AM or so and continues on and off until 9 or 10 PM. I stayed in two rooms. One in front and one in back. They both had noise. In the future I will avoid this entire area (Moema) due to the noise. I will probably concentrate on Jardins for future trips. I am a light sleeper, others may not experience the noise problem to the extent that I did.

Just like the previous report I can confirm the noisy sound of the planes due to the nearby airport. But that is also true for all the hotels in the area. Other than that the hotel is clean, staff is friendly, breakfast is simple but complete. This hotel is GF. No Key Card needed, the staff will call your room if you have a visitor.

This place is just 5-7 minutes walk from a Commercial Center. Clinica's nearby. Good restaurants. Safe area.

    .
Thanks for the info. I booked Tsue for mid July. I plan to walk nearby to.

Clinicas and do a lot of daytime visits. We will see how much plane noise I can take during the evening naps. Before recharging for a night of debauchry.

    Hotel Review June 2022

Went to SP in June, a quick report about my hotels.

    Tsue Palace (Moema).

    Mercure Alamedas.

Good situation near Paulista Av. Rooms are big and nice and the hotel is pretty quiet even with a central situation. Staff is helpful but does not speak so much English. The hotel is GF. A card is needed to use the elevator.

    Transamerica Paulista.

I can't say if this place is GF or not as I didn't have this situation here. I assumed yes if you book for 2 people. But it sounds like some administration and talk with 2 receptionists always present and I security guard constantly in front of elevators.
