OK, let say AndalusExpat takes the shuttle to the metro station, takes the train, change to another train and arrives at Lapa. Then he'll take a uber to where he will stay. That's possible but might not be safe for a newbie. Lapa might be crowded and scary for a newbie gringo arriving with all his luggage. Instead he could take the bus from the airport that passes by close to Barra and also Praca the Sé, close to Pelourinho. It would be very cheap but takes a long time. The easiest option would be taking an uber from the airport. In March I took an uber from Porto the Barra to the airport, it cost 39 reais.

You seem like to target me for some reason. You are well respected, no need to do that but you are welcome to target me with fact. I would gladly learn from it

If you plan to take public transportation, I suggest you get the Metro card at the airport, put enough money in it like are $50 or are $100. You will need to take a shuttle to the Airport Metro station if you choose to do so.

The bus stop is right across the street. I passed by one night and a group girls came out of the building, all get into one car and drove away.

I'm planning a trip to Salvador. Want to be there for carnival so anticipating for the whole of February. I'll be bringing my own Bahiana with me as translator & native guide. And her family lives in Salvador, although Sussuarana. Not one of the better areas, I suspect? So I'll rent an apartment somewhere better but within taxi distance.
So I'd appreciate any information about the city you can share. Not so much finding prossies. My friend's ex-puta in Spain, so no doubt she can sort that out for me. She's friend, not girlfriend but we lived together for a couple of years. More the things one needs to know when in a strange city. Areas not to go? (Sussuarana? Are the taxis reliable? Any experience with outcall girls? How much by the day? Tipping in bars & restaurants? Police hustle? Local con ploys? I think I know most of them but there's always new ones to learn. Any idea the maximum ATMs will disgorge? I'm not too keen on bringing too much folding stuff into the country but we may be going places they don't accept card payments. I don't envisage getting a hire car. Too much hustle. But would it be better to?
