Why are guys always looking for a safe for their laptop? How do you not realize some chick walking out with your computer? Do you just see the cord dangling 20 minutes after she has left and be like that bich took my damn laptop? I have stayed at Tequendama Suites plenty of times and I can't even tell you if they have a safe, nevermind one big enough to fit a laptop.

I have been an extended visitor to Bogota and other cities in Colombia for many years but predominantly Bogota. I have lived with the locals in south and seen first hand the muggings and thefts her family went thru over and over and how the dangerous of Bogota has escalated since the influx of very desperate and dangerous Venezuelans arrived. Nothing against Venezuelans, just the robbers. First, I know Woodman, he's ok just trying to make a buck but he does have a bit of a cavalier attitude toward SF, as does a lot of the mongers who like SE. It's not safe, as lots of areas in Bogota. It can happen in a flash, crowds around is not a guarantee of safety, they will NEVER intervene on your behalf. My girl was in El Centro, coming down the ramp from the transmilenio, lunch time, around 1 pm when a large black Venezuelan man suddenly blocked her path, with a very LARGE knife. Forced her to open her backpack right in the middle of the crowd as he took everything, cut her on the side of her face and broke her glasses. This is probably her 5th cell phone loss and 7 or 8 muggins as well as 7 or 8 muggins suffered by the rest of the family. Including her dad, a Taxi driver and x bus driver, who was shot in the head and was in a coma for 4 months. These are people who have lived in Bogota their entire life. Very street smart but still fall victim. What chance do you think you have if they zero in on you? None that's what. Be careful, assume everyone around you or at the reception desk or security is out to get you. Most are good humble hardworking people but you must assume you are a target.

I know some have said that SF is ok to walk around at night, I'm going to have to disagree. Unless you can blend in you will be a target. I have been in some pretty bad hoods and I can feel the vibe is not safe. Stick to Uber, it's cheap and comes often. There is also a pretty decent bbq joint beside Troya that was very friendly to me. It was basically just a plate of meat with sauces on the side for 35 k if I remember correctly. I usually waited there for my Uber before I left.

So it's my first time in SF (not in Bogota I've been several times but always in safer neighborhoods) I decided to book an Airbnb within walking distance to Fiebre, my concern is walking back after hours like midnight or later AM. My Airbnb is just a 4-minute walk from Fiebre and is on the same street as Atunes on the CL 23. Crossing Carrera 17 one north by block and a half. I've read that the actual zone is kind of safe if you can blend in, I'm half South American and born in Spain so if I don't open my mouth I could blend in, obviously I would not be wearing flashy clothes, carrying so much money, cards, or an expensive phone that I won't give away in case someone pulls a weapon.

My questions are: Is that exit from The zone on the CL 23 a dodgy area to walk like 4 minutes / one block north? (Atunes same street CL 32 crossing Carrera 17).

Would an Uber or a local taxi be on service at that time even if to use it for a 2-minute drive? 00 - 03 ish AM?

LOL. You saw nothing, but felt a vibe, therefore it means it is not safe? Meanwhile I have actually been walking around there and downtown at night (always with the latest Samsung and before that, Palm Treo 680 and 650) for almost 20 years and have never seen anything and nothing has ever happened to me.

There is NO blending in for foreigners. Where do you guys get that shit from? I am Black. I can go to Africa and I am still not blending in. Nobody has ever come up to a foreigner and said I thought you were from here; you are really blending in great. And out the over 100 countries I have been to, I have never thought myself to be doing any kind of blending in.

I am at my girl's place in Ecuador now. Last night we went to a restaurant and she told the waiter you are from such and such huh? He said yes how do you know. She said because you look like it. He even had on a work uniform and was not blending in.

None of us look like we are from Santa Fe or any other parts of Colombia. We do not have the stature, the look, the walk, the clothes, the haircut, the mannerisms. There is no blending in!

Todays went to Absolut: way too expensive 300 k. The casa is luxury compared to Tantra or Mezzanine but this does not justify the price required.

In the afternoon went to Mezzanine 130 K, quality of girls was low. But it is Sunday?

Out these three options I would rate Tantra first, although it's basic but got a very passionate girl (Nathalie, see my previous report.).

I stayed at B3 hotel on Carrera 15 , well situated close to Andina mall and between hotel and Andina mall a lot of good restaurants within 5 minutes walk in very safe environment. Absolut is 10 minutes walk from hotel, Mezzanine 10 minutes taxi. Tantra 1/2 hour taxi.

Just wanted to add that as I was leaving and walking down the street a guy was giving out flyers for another, don't remember the name but it had a fire on it. I'll give it a try next time and report back.
