Guys posting in 1970 complained when the first bars opened, saying that the old days were better, you could just stay in a hut and have village ladies visit you.

Hey Pattaya is still a great destination however it has nothing to do with a "syndrome" to see the city is changing over time. If its better or worse well that depends per person and their ability to adopt to these changes?

Fact: since covid there is a major shift in demographics of the tourist in Thailand that have a HUGE impact on the city.

* Less Westerns and more couples / families of western countries.

* The rise of Asian tourist (arab / indian).

* More koreans who go there for a long weekend (just a few hour flight) who just have a different spend behaviour than most westerns.

* Increase in salaries after covid (due to lack of girls in 2022 - higher salaries - higher barfines - higher prices for LD).

* We now even see an increase in kickback for drinks (from 50 THB precovid to 100 THB now in Pinup as an example).

The effect on someones holiday is of course depending on what he does?

If you are into freelancers / Thaifriendly / beachroad or whatever you won't find a big impact. You can still find enough girls for the precovid prices and there are plenty of girls.

If you are into agogos the impact is probably the biggest because of the increase in barfines and prices for ladydrinks.

And yeah with the increase in salaries and all. Some girls don't go ST / LT that easy as before.

So did Pattaya change? Hell yeah!

Was it better before? Hmmm I would say it was more EASY before. Now you just have to be more "price aware".

Trust me, if you spent 6 months straight in Thailand, you will not go out everyday. There is no need to. If you are well known and good rep, you will have a black book as long as 1-200 girls. There are other things to do to like working out and staying in shape or side hustles to make some extra cash. It's like thinking, people who live in Las Vegas go to strip clubs and casinos everyday. They don't. So much more else to life.

And these chicks think you are just sitting around waiting to boom boom and they can hit you up to get money on demand. As if you do not have other things going on in your life. I do not need McDonald's calling me up asking if I want them to bring hamburgers over. When I am hungry I will call and place my order.

My boom boom hours are around 10 pm right before I go to sleep and in the morning right when I wake up. That is why 99% of the time I do LT and it is at night. Another reason I like dealing with chicks that have a normal daytime job that have to get up and go to work in the morning. 11 am and a chick just hit me up to come over. Bich I am busy. You know my boom boom hours.

To be honest I think people keep saying this for a reason and it's true. There is a steady increase in stigma here (similar to the west) and less are willing to do so. This gives an advantage to the less pretty girls, who would legitimately date a 60+ farang creeper (sorry, I'm 38). Getting paid for it is like a cherry on top. But a pretty thai girl? From my experiences the model types are hard to even get in your hotel room and only want quickie short time at boom boom hotel.

I have to admit that I find your references to those gentlemen that happen to be a few years senior to yourself as "creepers" offensive to say the least. And your statement that you are "sorry" is anything but genuine, to be honest. I will however take great pleasure in the knowledge that if you are so fortunate to live that long, you will also join the group you call "creepers", and somehow I doubt you will see yourself in that frame of reference. I suspect you will spend hours chasing girls of the age of your grand daughters and telling the tall tales of your youth. I also suspect that younger men also see you as a younger version of a "creeper". They are only 25 and not sorry at all. With experience sometimes comes perspective.

The top lookers are in the gogos where Koreans and Japanese go. ST is 3000 baht. LT is 5000-6000. Barfines in gogos are 1500-2000 baht. So that means that you are even paying more for ST with one of them than you would pay in some western countries.

There used to be better looking girls in bars but they have been detected by scouting groups that works for agencys. They see a cute girl in bar and they seek her out and tell her that she should instead come and work for them in a gogo and ask 3000ST. Not the 1200-1500 she was asking before. This has been going on for some years now. There are even karoke bars and clubs full of Koreans, rich Chinese etc that only hire top lookers. They don't even turn to westerners. Koreans pay the same money they would pay in their own country, they don't care.

Was at the gogo bars too on walking street. Awful selection. Which karaoke bars have hot girls only?

I'd last been in Thailand in 2018. Was there in 2017 and 2016 as well. But this time around the scene appears to have completely died. I spent 4 days in Pattaya walking up and down looking for a girl in bars, gogo clubs, freelancers, etc. It appears that the quality of the options available has seriously degraded. And I mean in terms of appearance. This was always somewhat of a struggle in 2016-2018 as most girls aren't worth it but you would find one, didn't take too long either. Now it appears they are completely unavailable. Not just Pattaya, I was in ko samui and chiang mai but I can't seem to find any girls I'm attracted to. I did see a few in chiang mai but they were already had some 50+ creeper (sorry guys, I'm 38) all over them.

Does anyone have any insight to what happened? The scene is alive but why are attractive girls no longer doing this? Are there new stigmas here or are people just going to tell me its onlyfans again? I don't buy that the average income of a girl on onlyfans is like 300/ month. That's like 2 boom booms for them and this is way easier and faster. What the hell is going on? It's not just Thailand, there is nothing back in nyc either!

My entire life I've been an avid girl watcher. Girls in the States in the 60's, 70's and 80's were amazing. To those who say they are no different today I retort that I did photography in the 80's and 90's and have numerous photos to prove my point. Back then a fat girl was an aberration, now they are the norm. Guys in their 20's and 30's know no different and seem to be happy dating big girls. Big and beautiful seem to be a thing today, not back then.

Trust me, if you spent 6 months straight in Thailand, you will not go out everyday. There is no need to. If you are well known and good rep, you will have a black book as long as 1-200 girls. They don't. So much more else to life. Everything people talk about is definitely for tourists. I can't remember the last time I even sat under a 50 baht umbrella chair at the beach? Maybe 6 years ago. I don't find it entertaining like when I first came in 2011 and making it rain yee sip bahts. It doesn't mean long stays don't venture out to WS or Soi 6, once in awhile, but it's merely to get some exercise and see if anything is new. Which most of the time it isn't. Just the same girls older and fatter, plus the pizza at NY Diner iBar is now 99 baht instead of 89 with an hefty 20% tax. And rarely, the new girls are as good and anything in your black book. There problem with going out to the GoGos and Soi 6 all the time is the girls that give you the 1500 discount before work rate, see you, and now wants to sit for drinks at 200 baht a piece. If you are in this agreement with 7-10 girls in the same club, it then gets ridiculous. You will be spending at one club 1500-2000 on drinks just for them to say "Hi. " Remember there is no friendships here, it's all transactional if they know you are long stay.

Birth rates in Thailand have been declining for decades, at the same time Thailand has become more affluent. So less girls with more choices. Also less girls, less pretty girls.

Not sure if I buy that for being the reason. The bars are still jam packed with girls just not good looking ones. Maybe it's the after effects of the pandemic, no tourists so many girls stopped, many girls never started. I don't really know but a subset of any population is going to have good looking girls. Why don't they do this? I see them working in malls and restaurants and hotels, but not that.
