I find it takes a few tvisits to crack it in CMB. Which hotel was it in Galle road close to street walkers? Any of them worth a try? And which coffee shop?

I spent a week in Colombo in November, the rainy season, definitely not for sightseeing. Managed a quiet place in Tallawathugoda, with swimming pool, 8,500,9,500 with breakfast. Enjoyed the hotel hospitality, didn't have to leave the hotel and was able to (barely) arrange take-outs with offering additional 1,500-2,000 taxi fee over the asking prices, nothing memorable. Not too many took the bait and from those who did half turned out to be flakey, ids were checked at the front desk but no fuss, and I didn't hear any soliciting from the staff.

The first place was quiet but a bit faraway, after four days moved to (upside) Galle Road (15,000, no breakfast), center of the city. Now I know I should have checked out the nearby Casino place, visited a couple of SPAs on and off but very disappointing, it seemed these places were selective in recruiting unattractive women only. Now that I look back there were some freelancers off the main street, during the day, I saw single women sitting inside a couple of those high-end pastry / coffee shops (Americana). I was in / out for quick deserts and I noticed one of them when she tried to beat me to the cashier and turned around with a smile. I was wondering why she was smiling (the).

At the new hotel, a couple of nights I noticed a couple of them going through the stairs late at night, I think they were being delivered by outsiders. Another night it seemed it was an outcall because later the porter picked up a tip from the room, I think all were local guests because I never saw a foreigner in that hotel. I ended up with a couple of repeated take-outs again, and again nothing memorable.

Earlier on my way to change hotels, by accident I stumbled onto a couple of hostel s, you know those with shared bathroom, and I saw a couple of foreigners there, that was the only time I saw foreigners during my staying. I ate street foods a couple of times and they weren't that bad, beef dishes not so tasty, good pastry. I listened to couple of street hustlers on their offers, but they were no offers, useless. I didn't feel unsafe but late at night you must walk firm, strong, or you'll be distracted.

Upon my arrival at the airport, I took the public bus (187) but I took a wrong exit from the airport and I ended up walking like1. 5 k, the correct exit is the departure entrance to the airport. Upon exiting from the arrivals building walk to your right and pass the Departure Terminal until you reached the road, the bus stop is 50 meters from there on the opposite NE corner. I took the 5:30 bus and I just gave him 150 and he took it, dropped off in Pettah and took bus 171 to take me further in the city and took tuktuk from there. I changed SIM card at the airport with no issue, the currency exchange rate was good at the airport, less at the hotel, and I didn't try at the banks. For my departure I took a taxi (A / C) back to the airport for 7,500 and it took about 50 minutes.

Colombo is a big city, spread out in all directions, hard to learn how to navigate through the city parts with all THE extended long names, to find your way around. I did not get the opportunity to look into some of the recommendations given on this board this time, my 8-day visit turned out to be not enough so, I am going to try again on another trip.

Further to my above post, moving forward, I think as a rule of thumb, although these type of pimps insist on sending the room number of the place you book first in order to send the girl, if you have a vehicle, I think its best to get as close as possible to the hotel and sending them the temporary live location on Whatsapp or something so that they know you are at the hotel but I'm going to insist on not booking the room till the girl actually arrives at the location in order to not waste any money for a no-show situation.
