It's the prices punters are paying at the Go-Gos that are out of whack. It's incredibly unfortunate that what was once a place for both tourists and locals has become a complete tourist trap.

Yes, it really is sad. And it is of little consolation that prices in similar venues elsewhere have doubled or tripled too. This is price gouging. Plain and simple. I mean what is the rate of inflation in Thailand? Nevermind. We all can see that Pussy enjoys is very inelastic demand curve. I hear the Go Go's are still packed with customers. Amazing! But sooner or later this uncontrolled greed will kill the golden goose. I don't know when or at what price the market will peak and then break, but the economic law of supply and demand always wins in the end. Anybody remember the Amsterdam tulip bubble?

I saw the sign, but didn't go right to the end. I assumed it was just a gravestone marking the burial place of an old friend.

I too saw the large sign over the complex, still there, so went looking for it. I was just about to give up when the mamasan bartender came running out, "Beer Garden is HERE". It was, and I feel sorry for whoever bought the name. I had a drink for old times sake and inquired about a t-shirt, but not my size. And I agree, it's now a shrine to some fond memories of some good times. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did in that location.

Jet lag ws not over after my visit to Meet the World this morning; after a shower in my soi 4 hotel, on the road again, walked past Kasalong and saw a young and slim pretty lady outside between the not so young and not so slim, but further Ok ladies. Took my chance and she was good, with a lot of feeling, and deep!

Wanted a some rest afterwards and the idea of a relaxing massage was attractive, a normal one, and decided to visit Nang Seeda, underneath the Nana BTS station; have passed there often before, and was always impressed by the line-up outside, lookers, young and more mature. And because they're al wearing uniform black, I had the idea it was just regular massage. And it was to start with, but very shortly after turning on my back, the very attractive lady whose name I have not remembered, offered me even BBFS for an extra 2000, above the regular 500. That's a very good price for Nang Seeda.

It takes a lot of hard bargaining to get FS down to 2000 once inside, and they previously have been totally unwilling to discuss extras at all out on the street.

If you go to the far end of the bar area, to the fence on the alley down to Soi 5, and look CLOSE, that's what the Beer Garden has SHRUNK to. A small horseshoe bar, Beer Garden sign above, with a couple of pool tables in front. When I was there last month, some other members of my generation were spotted walking down soi 7, looking around, rather bemused. Mamasan went running out to the street with a "It's here, it's here, this is the Beer Garden". Well, at least its tombstone. Another way to spot: if you remember the alter and the tree at the OLD garden's entrance? The tree is still there (though Mamasan said the other tree had been cut down - "for money").

IMHO, for jet lag, a better option is the MRT to Silom, and Meet the World on Patpong Soi 2. Ring the bell, rugby scrum.

Yep, Granny likes to put her own prices on the tab, but at least there's a tab to see. The heavyset Mamasan is legit, and you did get the going price: 800/ BBBJ / per lady, lady drink 150, Singha 100 (though I've paid 150). If you buy a lady drink, she will strip. Ringing the bell gets the nude rugby scrum. Granny will try and charge 1500 FS, but it's 1200. Word of caution: the mattress on the bed looks solid, but it does have its potholes. I like the music, a fan blowing directly on you is good enough a/c, and it is definitely old school BKK vibe. And for 2500 for 3 ladies, 4 drinks - great deal.

MTW: not for everyone, but then again, I'm not everyone. It pleases the one who matters, me.

Just arrived in Thailand for first time since March, with my 3 weeks stay being split between BKK and Hua Hin. Some initial observations on what's changed in the last 9 months:

1) I normally stay on Soi 8 and sometimes walk across the road and up Soi 11. There was a growing number of small beer bars on the left hand side of the road, but they have all gone (to be replaced by a big hoarding prior to some large office block appearing?)

2) The Beer Garden on Soi 7 is gone, to be replaced by lots of little bright shiny beer bars (perhaps those from Soi 11 have relocated). Place looks a bit of a mess.

3) Lots of black girls offering their services outside the Novotel on Soi 4. Mostly average looking.

4) Chating with girls on TF. Most from BKK looking for around 3 k, those from HH appear happy with 1.5 k.

5) Lots of nice looking girls outside Thermae. I'm the wrong side of 60 and English, but all the girls I made eye contact with smiled at me (and would probably have done a turn if I was interested).

Well a brief review of the forum will tell you all you want to know about it. There are folks here that like it and there are folks here that think it's a waste. If you live here, know your way around, know the game, it's worth it if you're willing to put the time in. If you don't live here, it's throwing the dice. You could very well end up in the middle of nowhere with some 45-year-old that was 21 online.
