Absolutely. These putas lie like rugs. Never believe anything from them 100%. One of the biggest lies is "this is my first day / week".

I think the perception is that the food has less GMO and is more organic. Certainly when I buy things like strawberries they might last 2 days, whereas they last about a week or more in the USA and still look perfect. Also, the cows here may not be corn fed. I know when I go out to the campos I usually see cows grazing. IMO, the food here taste better, but doesn't last as long as in the USA. The issue for me is that most of the food here in restaurants is mostly bland so I wind up cooking myself. You also don't have as much junk food here and can get a lot of stuff more natural like fruit juices. Everything in the USA seems prepackaged from a factory unless you only shop at a health food store.

This is a great idea. International Food Guide with dudes arguing over the cheapest and best tasting street arepas LOL.

Who's coming to Medellin for "chicharron, mocilla, arepa. " My GF eats that kind of food every day and I eat it when she makes it out of respect, but the food is wack (see pic).

I cook most of my meals and I will say Colombia, in general, gets credit for good quality food in terms of less pesticides and good soups, fruits, coffee and being less costly than the USA, but when you factor in the travel and lodging costs of Medellin, I can't see people solely coming here because they can go to Crepes & Waffles, Mondongos or even a steak place. The guy used Barcelona as a reference point, but I've never been blown away by the food in Spain. The food is OK, but when I think of food places, I think of spots like Thailand, Mexico, New Orleans, etc. But yeah, obviously a meal at a restaurant in Medellin will cost less than the USA.

You can go to any supermarket in Medellin, you will find that the varieties of ingredients like vegetable, spices and seasoning are extremely limited when compared to US, or Brazil. That contributes to the limited taste in their food and what is available in the restaurant

I'm always taking whatever any stranger says with the grain of salt and what any women says with a spoonful of it, but I have no reason not to believe her, based on the photos she showed. The pricing part is nothing out of the ordinary either, that's how much they charge in Poblado and she quoted standard Centro price so no surprise here. The doscientos usd was apparently paid because they guy assumed the quote is usd not pesos. It's the rest of the personal stories she had told me (I haven't mentioned half of it, like the part she's bi now and raising her kid with a lesbian girlfriend who's been a tomboy, but now grew up her hair, wears high hills, makeup and is also a prepago) I might have potential issue with, but considering she's was pretty high on tussi, oversharing heavily and answering questions without any time to think or hesitation, it seemed to me she's telling the truth. Truth or lie, I didn't really care either way, she was a random person but I enjoyed talking and listening, it's an entertainment for me and a chance to practice Spanish. If she made all that up then I congratulate her on vivid imagination, creativity and ability to lie convincingly without incongruencies.

I've noticed that also. I wonder if it's because Asians are smaller on average. Colombians are on average small people and they may believe that they can more easily control someone of smaller stature. Also regarding drugging. If they give a small person the same dose which they give to larger people, it may be fatal. However I don't think that anyone is immune to crime in Medellin. A gun is the great equalizer.

Well, ok. If you're coming to Medellin for the food plus sex, that makes sense.

I try to keep this board to just reviews however. After over a decade of coming here I will say.

It's getting more dangerous as it's got to more metropolitan.

All my local friends phones getting robbed more, even breaking taxi windows to get phones.

That said, if you move like a ninja you can reduce your risk.

I actually though about carrying a dummy iPhone in case the occasional motorbike tries.

    A fast one.

I have noticed, if you are Asian they seem to be targets. I can think of three or more stories in recent years of death and the tourist were all Asians.

I guess if you are Asian here, know that you have a target on your back.

They are hitting llevas (which I hardly go.

To anymore) and provenza even more it seems.

Use your spidey sense, trust your gut, have a seperate phone for bank things. Hide your electronics, have a safe doorman you know (I even gift them during the holidays, no one is getting out without me giving the ok).

Try and make friend with locals and if you.

Want to get close with real girls, do it thru real relationships building and not just a swipe right.

If you do go online, SA seems to have better quality however, don't fall for the trap and understand those girls.

Are just hookers who don't even know it yet.

    Safe travels!
