Given my two freebies below, after the "massage", the lady asked, "Do you have something for me?" She said the norm was to tip 500 Baht.

Having no idea if this was the case or not, I simply tipped 500 Baht. Afterall, I got all of this for free.

How much should one tip at Christin's Massage? If 500 Baht the right amount? Or is this overly excessive after paying (or having someone else paying) 2700 Baht to the house.

So I'm sitting in Christin's Massage having a non-alcoholic beverage, just relaxing and killing some time one rainly late afternoon. I don't find most of the ladies behind the glass particularly appealing and I prefer the night scene at Tiger Entertainment, Soi Bangla, etc.

So, as I'm sitting at the table, an Asian gentleman from Hong Kong asks if may join me. I say sure, he sits down and we talk for a while. He was a friendly business professional, recently divorced, and he treated me to a drink the next round.

After talking for a while, he says to me (glancing towards the fish bowl), "So have you decided which one you want? I explained to him that I really wasn't interested in them or looking really. He said, "Are you sure? I'll buy for you."

While I thought this was a generous offer, I initially declined. I mean buying me a drink or two is one thing, but paying 2700 Baht for me to get a freebie? I had to admit, I felt guilty and declined. He insisted it was okay and not that big a deal, so finally, I said sure. We each picked one, and he went to the cashier and paid for both with his credit card. The four of us took the elevator upstairs, picked our own rooms, and then met downstairs in the bar area again afterwards.

The following day was his last day in Phuket, and he wanted to know if I'd be willing to meet him again for another, same time tomorow. I figured why not, and went back, and again, he treated me again.

So, two days in a row I got a free Soapy at Christin's Massage.

Girls which are working in that business know what they are doing. They also know what impact that decision has on their own lifes. They made this decision and they have chosen a relatively easy way of making money, whatever story they have in the background (take care of baby, mother, father, water buffolo).

That girl has learnt how to make money in that business. And if she is so awesome and cute - it is even possible for her to select customers, and will not have to go with the "old fat ugly farang sex tourist". She then can combine her own entertainment and sexual desires with making money - and then job is not that bad then!

It normally doesn't work to send money, one or two months, and then the girls get bored and return to their business for various reasons, not only because they want more money.

I hear ya, brother. And I know where you're coming from. And I've been there myself. All of us are at some stage of growth, having come from somewhere, being somewhere, and heading somewhere.

But, I gotta tell ya: Marriage is THE most expensive option around. Trust me. And not only in terms of money. Time and opportunity. Your life is not yours anymore! However, I'm not going to discourage you from the ideals you set forth.

I have many of the same moral struggles, but "at the end of the day", I LOVE being with a variety of women and experiencing them in all their mysterious holds on us.

Just got back from my 1st tour of duty. What an experience! The only disappointing thing is I met my dream girl my last two days there. If I had met her earlier, I would've stayed with her the whole time. I mean this girl was my absolute dream girl, model quality, sweet, happy, fun...a total joy to be with. The kind of girl that makes you feel happier even if you weren't sad to begin with. Yes, she was THAT awesome. I wish I could bring her here to the US, but that would be expensive, time consuming, and risky. While I had the best time ever, it was only two days. I still know little of her history and if her story is true or not.

She did ask the usual, "send me money and I won't do this [working girl job]." Hmm, sure I thought. Only until the next customer comes along and sweeps her off her feet. Really, though, she was not the usual common working girl. She was really sweet and considerate. She really doesn't belong in this business. I could see her working with kids or as a nurse, not as a freelancer.

Oh well, life goes on and so must I. She was only a short term fantasy come true. Now that I've lived my fantasy, I must go on. No more mongering or Thailand from here on. If this continues I'll never get married and won't be able to concentrate on the important, realistic matters of life. Remember fellas, this life of hunting pussy, is just temporary satisfaction...and it's wrong. We all deserve better than to pay for pussy. Patong Rocks,

I think that Patong is far better than BKK of Pattaya. Cleaner, fresh air, nice beach and 5000 Darlings ready to make you happy.

There are a few things like S & M clubs, a big range of soapies,
and more upscale resturants that BKK and Pattaya have but I would say those are more than replaced with Patong. The entire island of Phuket is much better.

If you are looking info or are headed there for the first time or going back looking for somethings they missed last time put it up or pm me. I'm sort of a part time resident as I'm there every ther month with a few days in BKK on endf each trip.
BTW! There are a number of boards out there on Phuket/Patong specifically but most are run by people who use them to promote their business and one board is run by some jerk off moron who gives out bad info. The cast of crooks include a bar owner, vacation rental owner, Soi owner ( strip of beer bars) and the usual advertorial type catchments.

I will tell you know that I often don't follow my own advice but I have my niches and my places I like to go so I may not recommend my haunts or likes.

I find the girls are less crass. Yes, Pattaya appear to have more stunners and go go's but I would say the ration for Darling to Dog is about the same.

There is ample shopping with a Big C, Tesco Lotus, and a big mall that is really new, just a few weeks.

Is it more expensive, can be but that has an up side IMHO. You don't see alot of low end trash travelers bringing down the economy and they say that is due to the cost of air travel etc.
I hate Farang Beggars and amature Farang hookers trying to make money to get home!

Has anyone had experience at the Amari Coral Beach Resort in Patong? How about the Baan Karonburi Resort in Karon Beach. I've been to Phuket several times, but stayed at mostly lower level places--I'd like a nice place this time. I did stay at Diamond Cliffs once--it was very nice, but absolutely not girl friendly.

Specifically, I want to know if the hotels charge "joiner" fees and if they are really 4* quality.

I live in Kata Beach and use a local taxi driver to get to and from the airport, he does good deals and was born on Phuket and speaks English well. Skip the minivans it can take hours to get to the Southern end of the island. If you want the driver's number PM me. Just call him before you leave BKK and he will meet you. It is 45 from Kata up to the airport so he needs a heads up to get there in time for you.

As previously stated, the travel agency stop is standard operating procedure for the mini-van. On my last trip to Phuket the TA hit the jackpot with the mini-van I was in. Four backpacking German girls (all very attractive) not only got their rooms from the TA but they also purchased a couple of day tours to nearby islands. Two other people in the mini-van also got their rooms from the TA. Needles to say, we spent well over an hour at this TA. The 150 baht price is great but next time I think I will try gwailo's advice.
