Just so you know. It was your (helpful) post which caused my negative reaction. You said you went down Soi 80 and didn't see a single girl you would rate over a 6 so ended up having to resort to TF. I don't think I have posted negative things about Pattaya. Ever. I have mentioned that I prefer to stay in the quieter Pratumnak. That's just a show of my ageing years! It's not a criticism of Pattaya which I love! I haven't criticised Soi 6 - nor would I. Great fun and posted about it on previous trips. Not my favourite spot (I prefer GCs in Pattaya) and I couldn't have moaned about a lack of young girls in HH as I've never been!

It's clear from your post, and the more positive one from Tlito that followed, that Hua Hin obviously has some charm. You describe it as heart. It's precisely why I was interested in visiting. I totally agree with Tlito's comment that a great service / attitude 6 is more of 10 than a spinner looking 10 who is a starfish who you leave thinking was a 5.

Let me first up say sorry for misleading you, but I can see you are on track now.

I love Hua Hin, more so than Bangkok, and well Pattaya that I can tolerate.

I never visit Thailand without a trip to Hua Hin. I noticed last time a lot more girls are drink only but I found a cute under 30 girl for LT and she was fine. Over the years I have had lots of luck with Thai beauties in Hua Hin. Twice I have had 2 girls. Hua Hin is more laid back than Pattaya or Bangkok with a much smaller mongering scene. If you are looking for multiple short times every day then Hua Hin is not for you. Also the number of young spinners is very limited to non-existent. Still if you are patient you can have a good time. Most of the lookers I have seen in Hua Hin were brought in by a boyfriend. I enjoy the laid back atmosphere and as I have stated before a six with enthusiasm is a ten to me.

Yeah, it sure is! There's a really great atmosphere around the place. I was surprised at the level of English spoken by the girls in and around Sam Sam's. Almost word perfect in some instances.

A few girls led us to a Thai club in the covered area and we had a great night. The ratio was firmly in favour of Thai men (as opposed to westerners) but likewise I never felt out of place and some were actively striking up a conversation with me!

Wow, I never read about any concerns with Soi 80 before visiting but I am unlikely to ever return. In hindsight, there were probably a few more borderline but, as I wasn't looking to hook up, I didn't give it any thought at the time.

If ID cards are mandatory for Thai nationals, there should be no reason for a girl not to present it. Within reason..

ID cards on Thai girls are never a guarantee either, and I only ever consider them as a due diligence excuse, sort of like you say.

What many visitors / tourists don't understand is how easy it is for a Thai girl to replace a lost ID card, as in one given away to a younger friend.

The photos of the older cards are invariably as school girl looks, from a few years back, and the girl holding it now, when all made up and older, doesn't look anything like the photo.

Plus the names are of no use as well, as the Thai names bare no resemblance to their (nick) names in the bar.

Sometimes the height is even wrong, and they have said they have had a growth spurt to explain them now taller.

If in doubt, walk out.

Or accept the risk that you checked a card, or photo, and it looked legit to the extent you could verify it, and then partake on the premises, don't do a take out.

When I am still uncertain, but have agreed to proceed as a "dine in" option, I've always tried to get a photo of the card on my phone.
