Have to disagree about hotels. Most in Rio are unfriendly, but yes, some friendly ones have been discussed in this thread (Hilton, JW Marriott, Fairmont, Hyatt and a few others probably).

Speaking of the JW Marriott — make sure your girl has the original ID document or has access to the government app on her phone to show her ID. Experienced monger in SE ASIA; couple places europe. Thinking Sao Paulo and Rio next but need help. Trying to read threads but.
