Please excuse the intrusion. I felt this belongs in this section so I am cross posting it from the Medellin Reports section: https://medellinexpatnews.com/canadi...8QRQk0We3fXIBv

Totally different situation. No one cares about Venezuela because they steal from everyone. Russia is the bogeyman of Democrats, and the dollar was inappropriately IMO weaponized against Russia and stupidly so. Like so much, what Biden and the Dems have done to "punish" Russia has hurt the West much more than Russia.
Well, Russia invaded another country which is stealing as well. Again, I do not like it, but that is the mindset, and it has a lot of support.

Well, you don't have to wait for BRICs. You can buy a basket of rupees, reals, yuan, and rubles right now. When you say the dollars not safe, it has been a helluva lot safer than those other currencies.

Its hardly fair to compare successful western countries with countries that have been sanctioned to hell and back. Its like tying the hands of a boxer behind his back and then wondering whay he didn't put up much of a fight. Why not compare like with like? USA to Sweden, or Cuba to Congo?
And its great to hear that you base your beliefs on random anecdotes of people you meet in Cucuta. Hehe.

You are using selective reasoning. There are many ways to steal. USA stole USD funds of Russia and Venezuela recently. It weaponises the dollar. That is theft. On a much grander scale than Vnzla. US dollars are not safe. Most countries are now looking to hold their funds in other currencies. Why do you think so many countries are keen to join BRICS?

Yeah, it is not like Venezuela or China or Brazil would do that. Oh wait.

Yes, by all means, diversify. Thing is why is it all you socialists do not put your money where your mouth is. Keep half your money in USA dollars and the other half in Venezuelan Bolivars. It is safer that way.

Do not confuse political systems with economic ones. Socialism is a political system. Not an economic system. Capitalism is an economic system not a political system. Look at China. I rest my case.

Please do not believe the "middle class" hype that those pulling the levers of the system foist upon us. The middle class can barely survive the world over. And as a class they may cease to exist in my life time. The middle class in most countries are the working poor. Barely a step up from the poor.
A focus on outward signs of material wealth can be deceiving. I don't own a car ATM. Does that make me poor? Public transportation and ride share services get me around just fine. IMO if you have to drive yourself around, you ain't shit. Truly rich people have drivers and ride in the back seat. Just saying.

Its USA and USA-led Western interference that brings about waves of refugees.
My point here is not so much to defend the actions of the Vnzla Govt, but rather to highlight that you are holding it to double standards.

You are 100% on target. I am deep into some things. The technology for an alternative payment system to Swift has already been created. Will the BRICS nations be able to come together to use it effectively? That is an open question.
