Posts: 23Appreciate the info. Do you remember the average price point per stick for the hotel cigar shops.

Posts: 40If you want authentic cigars, don't screw around with side hustlers and their rolled banana leaves; rather, go to a Habanos store. For singles, the best spot is the Parque Central Hotel. For boxes, I was very impressed with the Hotel Tryp Habana Libre (former Havana Hilton). There is also a Habanos store across from the Manzana Kempinsky Hotel on the corner of O'Reilly and Monserrate, very close to El Floridita. Cool manager in there who speaks great English.
I assure you what you buy from side hustlers is crap if you care at all about Cigar quality and authenticity. Best case, they are selling stolen scraps of discarded tobacco rolled outside the factories, and they always have terrible flavor and a worse draw. If you buy a Cuban fake, be sure to have a sharp metal stick to poke it with, because not even a $1 jinatera will be able to suck air through it LOL.

I bought from him a couple of trips and the people here were ok with the cigars, I don't smoke cigars, so I couldn't tell you one way or another about the quality.
Mondo.
P.S., Contact for him and his wife is thru Whatsapp, just in case you don't have it, install it on your phone.

Heading back to Havana soon. For cuban cigars, does anybody have good recommendations to by some?

You could probably book hotels once you are there, if you prefer that. If you are worried about that for when you get back to the US that is another issue, don't know anything about that.
Food is probably more or less safe, but I've never had a good meal in a government restaurant. Some of the paladars are good, just not well stocked with things at times. So there may be no chicken one day, or no beer, or whatever. There are a number of versions of the government owned restaurants and some are labelled as Chinese food, some as Italian food, etc. But any of the bigger restaurants are part of the government, and the menus were all similar, with perhaps one different dish to distinguish them. I didn't like the cooking oils they used. Not sure what they use but I was hoping it was safe at least. I think they forgot about spices sometime in the 1950's so I found the food to be pretty bland, to unpleasant.

Posts: 425Thinking of Cuba-preggos, hotels and food
I've got some time off from work and want to take a mongering trip. I've been thinking of Havana. I've watched a few videos and outside of a day or two of the historical sites I want to focus on the working girls. My thing is street girls rather than pros. A few questions for the board:
1. As an American I understand I can only stay in AirBnBs and not hotels. I prefer to stay in the nicest place possible when traveling. Anyone have experiences with nice AirBnBs in Havana? Do they exist where I can bring ladies in? Also can someone share specifically what's the best area to stay in to enjoy the street ladies? I don't want to do any traveling to get to the ladies (walking distance).
2. I have heard and read that food can be challenging in terms of quality and availability. I am a picky eater to begin with and don't want to get sick during my trip. Trust me I have been to some parts of the world where the food is so suspect I have lived off of peanut butter sandwiches for a week LOL. Any thoughts on food?
3. In a past post someone mentioned and shared a photo of a preggo he found on the street. I have a bit of a fetish for preggos as well. Are they common relatively speaking (ie street girls)?
Showdown.

Posts: 40Hey fellow enthusiasts! Some of you guys are funny. I thought I was a softie with my large gratuities, but some of you seem to have a hard time saying "no" haha. Just assume they all will eventually ask for money to be sent. Some will ask before the trip, all will eventually ask after you return home. I tell them I have a policy of not sending money, but that I am generous in person. I also say that my government does not like me sending money to Cuba and that I could lose my Global Entry if I were caught doing this, or maybe even my right to travel to Cuba (there is some grain of truth in this). They all have similar sob stories, usually revolving around birthdays (their own or their mother's or their grandmother's). Bottom line, say no to sending money, "I just don't do that. " Probably best to make that clear when you see them in person when they are happy, so there is no disappointment later. A burner isn't a bad idea, but I've used my regular phone on whatsapp and I have had no problems. I gave away my last burner to a chica haha. Like I said, softie.
Not sure how Tijuana is relevant, but I do not think that bringing girls to an airbnb in Havana for drinks is analogous to going down to dangerous Tijuana bars run by cartels where life has no value and the cops are all corrupt and you're paying by the half hour for hardcore pros with the 1000 cock stare. And I used to go down there in the old days, and yes, there are some stars, and I'm sure it's still fun as hell, but the risk factor is a magnitude higher for having your ear cut off and sent to your parents for ransom. If that's your thing, no hate, but it is a different experience than Havana where every girl is a potential.
Back on topic, I'm going back to Havana in June and I am always recruiting new talent. I now view work as an interlude between vacations, rather than the reverse, haha.
Note to self wrt some good gifts to bring: Cheap body sprays and hair brushes! I'm still pulling long hairs out of my brush. And they want to use my man cologne, hahaha.

Really you can ask almost any girl if you can take her for a date and give her a gift. Take your pick. Most will say yes. And if they say no it's not a disgusted no.
But as others have said, don't go to Havana if you don't speak passable Spanish. It's a waste of time. This isn't Tijuana. They don't pick up English due to proximity to the states.

I still like the thought that it's just a teacher or a waitress or whatever that I'm "picking up", then giving her a few bucks afterwards. It just adds to the entire fantasy of me being a big shot while I'm out there.
