Hey fellas,
Recently got back from a trip to Brazil Salvador and Manaus. It was mostly a general tourism trip, but I was able to punt a couple of times. I thought I would drop a few notes.
I'll cut to the chase -- Platinum was absolutely outstanding. I went on a Monday night, as per Azn Safado's recommendation. His description of the place was spot on, though the prices have changed slightly. The price for the Monday / Saturday special was R690 for a session. No admission price, but minimum R160 drinks expected. Most cocktails were about R65, and the beers R40 essentially US prices.
The pictures on the internet are accurate. Everyone hangs out in the bar and cabanas around the pool. At 8 pm, there were perhaps 10-12 ladies on a Monday night. Despite it being in Salvador, I don't think there was a single Afro-Brazilian girl there. It was all more latino / portugese Brazilians. Most were slightly thik, but not overly so. A few almost slender ones. All quite pretty definitely prettier than the average lady of the night. I think there were 6-8 other guys there, mostly chilling. In fact, I thought them oddly sedate given what was around them.
The facility itself was gorgeous. It is about a 20 minute Uber ride from Barra east of Rio Vermelho. It looked like it was built yesterday. Very elegant and clean. The rooms are very very nice, with dedicated bathroom and a gigantic step in shower. The themed suites are luxurious. There was an S&M suite, a western cowboy suite, and an Asian-themed suite. There may be others, but they were occupied when I got the quick tour.
I have punted a few times since COVID ended, and my experiences had been universally bad. I still think that, unfortunately, international punting is on the decline. Recent return jaunts to classic venues in Costa Rica, Amsterdam and Germany have been very disappointing. This was a very nice throwback. I met a younger, non-thick, generously endowed girl with brown curly hair. If you go, you will know exactly who I am talking about. Nice demure smile. Fantastic GFE. No whining for extra money or tips. No hassle. No clock watching. Very professional. Now I grant you, I may have gotten lucky in my one session. There is always a matter of chance with these things. But the impression I got was that any other sessions would have also been favorable.
I went on a Monday special night, with fixed prices. On other nights, the room price is still fixed, but the ladies can negotiate. Depending on what you negotiate, the value index will drop. But you will still have a great time. And BTW, the girls are under a "no approach" policy, so there is no constant awkward propositioning. You have to call them over.
I stayed there from 8-10 pm. The lineup seemed the same at 10 pm as I was leaving. I would recommend that same schedule, which allows you to stop at Rio Vermelho on the way back for a bite and listening to some good music.
It was a great throwback. Given that it is in Salvador, I don't know if I would call it a "destination" venue, but if you have decided to visit Bahia already, it is an absolute must visit. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
As for other tips, I want to give a shout out to Nounce. His recommendation for the Monte Pascoal hotel in Barra was spot on. It was dead center in the Barra beach strip, with the beach literally across the street. It was so close that you could literally have just a towel and your keycard and walk over for a swim. There is an official hotel guy there who will put out a beach chair and umbrella and take drink orders, which he will charge to the room. My room faced the beach, so the sounds of the ocean were always audible and lulled me to sleep.
I would definitely recommend a stay there, and definitely Barra over Pelo. Pelo is fun, but its only a 10 minute Uber ride away. Barra is safer at night, cleaner, more laid back, and with the ocean there. Plus, Pelo's famed cobblestone streets and narrow hilly lanes make it a nightmare for cabs to get in and out of. Rio Vermelho is where you go for conventional nightlife. I would recommend a stay from Saturday to Tuesday. Saturday and Monday for Platinum. Sunday for a Bahia football match at the FIFA stadium. Tuesday for Pelo (the big party day).
And definitely take Uber there. Don't bother with taxi's or the bus. Most trips around town were about $5. Even the trip from the airport, which took about 40 minutes, came to about $15. Uber was responsive too never waited more than 5 minutes.
Also visited Manaus for some time on the Amazon. On my last night there, I stopped by Remulos. It was a dump. Stayed for about 15 minutes. There was absolutely blaring music, with the occasional fog horn like at hockey games. Smoke everywhere. But nothing happening! No one on stage. Just people playing pool on the far side. It is very close to the Theater and definitely a safe walk if you are staying near the Theater, but I probably would not recommend going there at all anyway.

Posts: 66Higher scale black and mulatas
Where in Salvador are the higher scale black or mulata girls? No street walking girls and no dirt cheap shaddy places. I mean higher end black girls in clubs and brothels. I know the claim is that Salvador ain't it but with so many black and mulata beauty queens in the city (the black broads on Instagram from Salvador are incredible looking but they're not working girls) I have to imagine that there are places where the better looking higher end one's tend to be. Where is that?

I fucked the one on the right because on the street I saw her head on the second floor terrace of her apartment so I decided to get a date. LOL. The service is very limited and she came up with some lame excuses. The apartment is about 2 blocks away from the hotel.
The small and bigger bands at different locations. Barra will be more lively during the weekend. Look up Aruba Bar e Restaurante. The night time activity is concentrated around here for this stretch. You should be able to see the band and some other live music here when it is closer to weekend. Porto da Barra is a good spot on weekend morning to people watch.
I remember I have a picture of the building then I dug out the last picture showing her. LOL

It's the Sunday night after carnival. I went to Plaza Modelo to watch a concert. I brought my phone with the best camara, but it did not have a sim so I couldn't call Uber. I know how to walk back or call a taxi if I have to so I was not that worried.
After the concert ended around 10 PM, I walked to the bus station in a deserted area at that time. There was another man who was a vendor selling roasted cheese also waiting for the bus. We chatted and we were both going to Barra. What happened was the buses just passed by and never stopped. Then another man came to wait for the bus. Still no buses stopped. Another woman came, then another bus came and magically stopped. We let the woman get on the bus first, but as the woman just got in halfway, the door CLOSED! Three of us left standing watching the bus drive away. None of the later buses stopped.
Eventually all three of us walked to the stop before and got on the first bus.
I always suspected the bus drivers skip the stop intentionally, because I see it happening to the locals. This is a partial proof they do it intentionally.
Also, I got hit by a moto that sent me flying during carnival. The moto was damaged. I had some scratches, probably some minor internal injuries (my wrist still hurts now) and my new shorts were ripped during the fall. The rider wanted me to pay for damage. I pretended not understanding him (thanks MrE), even though I knew he wanted me to use translator which I had but I did not show him. After a while, I said one word, police. Then he started to look for police. We found the temporary station. I used translator to tell the police that I was walking and he hit me from behind. The police yelled at him and he left. The police wanted to take me to a medical station which I politely refused. I can't buy this type of pants in Brazil so I got my $50 shorts fixed for $6.

To me, Barra has more local vibe, low key, very walkable, not much activity during weekday or night. For example, the acaraje stands came out around the evening in front of the light house. While it came out during daytime in Pelourinho or downtown area. If you want to try crab or shrimp, go to the large restaurants by the beach. The size of the shrimp and crab is proportional to the price. There is an upscale restaurant called Camarao has the largest shrimp and it's also the most expensive. The better restaurants are to the north in Graca or to the west.
In my opinion, the location of that hotel is the center of the area and it is by the beach. It is nears many different restaurants, and Barra Shopping. There are two bus routes coming from the north, and this is near where the two routes converge. The sunset from this area is pretty nice too. As Specto has mentioned, many go to see the sunset at the Christo statue just nearby and it is not crowded
The bus runs eastward alone the coast with A / see so it can be pretty comfortable if you are not in a hurry. I think it is better than Uber. LOL. I think it is safe when you are on the bus. I am not sure about the safety when waiting for the bus. I have a story that I will write next. It you take the route alone the coast, I think it will be about 1 hr from Pelo. The Uber will take a short route, probably half that time.

I was leaning towards Barra, since everything that I have been reading online says that its safer there at night.
So there is a bus that runs from Barra, through Pelo, all the way east to Platinum? Or does the bus run in the eastward direction along the coast? Is the bus safe at night? How long does it take?
Is Monte Pascoal just a hotel for geographical reference? Or do you actually recommend the hotel?
Thanks!
