You won't find a decent Airbnb near classic. Look around Jakarta Central. They got some decent Airbnb around there. If you are planning on outcalls to your Airbnb, make sure to book it for 2.
Santika is a very good hotel within lower price range. Another good hotel is Novotel.

Positives. It is beside Harris Vertu so you get the benefits of the HXC mall which has good places for food and a nice spacious Indomaret inside. Attached to MaxOne is a pretty decent Starbucks. It's dirt cheap and for the most part reviews are good.
Negatives. In addition to the lack of a safe, a huge negative now is the construction right where the hotel is. No matter where you go whether it be Classic, Travel, KI, etc you are stuck in up to 10 minutes traffic just to go 3 blocks on that stretch of Hayum Wuruk to Juanda. My buddies were all staying at Holiday Inn Gajah Mada so it was minimum 20 minutes just to go meet them as you had to go south on Hayum Wuruk then east on Juanda, U-turn to go west on Juanda, only to be stuck in another log jam to go north on Gajah Mada. Got to be so frustrating I left Harris Vertu Harmoni to try other hotels further north. Ibis Styles in Gajah Mada Plaza, Novotel, Holiday Inn.
If you don't mind sitting in a bit of traffic around the time you want to head out and don't need a safe, then I would guess Maxone is a good choice. Your other budget hotel to consider right there is Yello Hotel Harmoni attached to Harris Vertu. I've stayed there too and it's newish and clean. It's chaotic on weekends though as they have conventions. 80% of the clients are people in their early 20's. There was some cosplay convention when I was there.
Best hotels within walking distance to Classic are Redtop and Movenpick (beside Emporium) on Percenogan but I think both aren't in the price range you're seeking.
Maybe helpful advice? I would never commit to a 2 month stay anywhere especially in north Jakarta where rooms are for the most part affordable and not sold out. Check a few places out and pick what works best for you on week 2.

Has anyone stayed at this hotel MaxOneHotels.com at Platinum Hayam Wuruk? I plan to do a 2-month stay. There is also Yuan Garden hotel near Classic https://www.google.com/maps/place/YUAN+GARDEN+Pasar+Baru / at -6. 1630653,106. 8297251,17 z / data=!3 m1!4 b1!4 m10!3 m9!1 s0 x2 e69 f5 c4 fbd59 f49:0 xf998 bdd3135459 f4!5 m3!1 s2024-06-23!4 m1!1 i2!8 m2!3 d-6. 1630706!4 d106.8323!16's%2 Fg%2 F11 f1595 vv5?entry=ttu.

Posts: 130I'm familiar with Hotel 88 in Singapore, but didn't not know this one in Jakarta is part of that chain. It makes sense now. It's no frill, budget hotel. Yes I meant Luminor, it's a nicer one comparable to Holiday Inn Gajah Meda.

However, Rooms in the Hotel 88 chain are barebones. You cannot get extra towels etc.
Thus, it depends on your personal tolerance level.
My personal view is Hotel 88 is a good option for "short time".
In Singapore, Hotel 88 are busy on Sundays when Foreign workers go here for a quickie with their girlfiends.
Also, in your post, you mean Hotel Luminor Kota (Jl. Raya Mangga Besar) and not Lumidor. Correct?
You can walk from Hotel Luminor to Travel. It is a 10 to 14 minute walk depending on how good you are at navigating the busy sidewalk.
I have stayed at Hotel Luminor. It is a good 3 Star Hotel right next to Lokasari Plaza.

Looking at AirBNB today the policy changed yesterday (30-April), to only entrance areas, none allowed inside. Be interesting to see how that goes.

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel 88 Mangga Besar VII? I saw this hotel while walking out of Hotel Travel. It's 3-star and the price is about $21 night and photos and reviews look good. Holiday Inn, Aloft, and Lumidor are my favorites, but this one appears to be convenient, and you can walk to Hotel Travel without getting Uber or Grab, and rest between sessions without haggled by mamasans.

I believe the higher the cost the higher the smoking enforcement will be. I doubt there will be any problems above the $30 level. WARNING: Stereotype coming soon. Higher cost in general means better clientele.
Nobody talks about the other side of the coin (the down sides) so I do it. I feel bad for guys expecting ABC but getting XYZ instead. Cigarette smell in your hotel room for a non-smoker is huge and can ruin a vacation. I never had it nearly this bad in Colombia, Philippines, or Thailand (countries I am used to for comparison).
