This turning out to be a odd Memorial day weekend. Went to Tijuana yesterday afternoon and there was a lot people walking across. I checked the Rosarito web cams and things were slow. Even the beaches were slow. The Zona about average. Here in SD Pacific beach was fairly slow. I was fairly surprised since people will come out even if the weather is overcast.

Checked out the new taco museum (Museo Del Taco) for the first time. It's most of the way down Revolucion, about half a block past the El Copeo sports bar.
Interesting museum. There is an admission fee ($180 MX, or around $10.75 USD) which in my opinion is slightly pricy for what it is. Only other museum I've been to in Tijuana with an admission fee is the more well-known Tijuana Cultural Center (TECUT) in Zona Rio and that was only something like 50 pesos.
They make you take your shoes off and put on new socks they give you, which seems odd at first, but makes sense later as you're going through the museum. You can store shoes and other stuff in a small locker they provide you with. You can take your cellphone and wallet into the museum but I think they discourage taking certain other electronics into the museum for some reason.
Interesting museum where you go through 9-10 rooms each focusing on different aspects of tacos. A couple of the rooms are glorified playpens (designed more so for kids than adults) and others are set up to take selfies and group pictures. The museum is probably designed moreso for a group experience, though I still thought it was cool even though I went by myself.
Well-designed museum, though not particularly informative about tacos outside of the introductory video (which provides a primer on the taco making process) once you enter. Feel like they could add more material here.
It's a multi-floor museum You can buy tacos and drinks on the first floor and I think they have a full restaurant on the top floor, though I didn't go up there to check it out.
I know it's Mexico, but given that the museum is on Revolucion and designed to be a tourist attraction, wish they had more staff and museum exhibits in English. Outside of the introductory video, which had English subtitles, most of the rest of the museum didn't have any English translation from what I recall. Also, in giving me basic instructions about the museum (such as the requirement to take off shoes and put on new socks) the workers had to rely on one of the taco cooks, who apparently was the only employee who spoke English. (Real cool guy though, said he lived for a long while in Seattle.).
Cool to check out as a one time thing, though don't know if I'd go back other than to buy tacos or check out the restaurant (which you can do without paying the admission fee).

Posts: 596Got back from a 4-day trip in Tijuana a couple of weeks ago. Some quick, general observations:
1) Can confirm that the deposit at Cascadas (HK) has gone up $10, from $30 to $40. As usual got it all back when I checked out so no big deal, I guess.
2) When I checked in they handed me some brief survey asking for feedback about the hotel and potential improvements. Didn't look too closely at it so don't remember the specifics (kind of half-assedly filled it out and gave it back to them on the spot) but found it a bit odd they would give me a survey like that upon check-in. Don't think I've ever seen them hand out surveys before.
3) I got to Tijuana just a few days after Canelo Alvarez's big fight in Las Vegas vs. Jaime Munguia, a young boxer who is from Tijuana. There had been rumors that Munguia married a former HK girl so I asked a couple of my regular chicas who work at HK. They both knew who she was and very quickly confirmed that his wife did in fact use to work there. Munguia apparently would go to HK occasionally and met her there.
4) Noticed the new hallway they added in HK that provides another connection between the main bar area and the newer bar area they built behind Club Miami. The hallway is right next to the new shower that replaced the old tub they used to have and makes it so you no longer have to walk through Club Miami to get to that back area. It's a good addition in my opinion.
5) Adelitas is still closed. Saw one of my regulars, who worked at Adelitas for nearly 15 years, and she's adamant that Adelitas is closed due to a dispute between the family members who own the bar, not so much any legal issues or an effort by competitors like HK to keep it closed. Had another regular, whose worked at both Adelitas and HK, tell me a while back that Adelitas was closed primarily because HK and some other businesses were conspiring to keep it closed but she's since backed off that opinion. So I guess I've given up trying to figure all that out at this point (I've heard so many different things) but the family dispute thing seems plausible.
6) Noticed that they do have at least one of the new elevators in Cascadas they'd been building over the past several months in operation now. Don't know if they're actually open for use by hotel guests yet but used the elevators myself a couple of times.

Loved the food there, but wouldn't go all the way back down there just for that (though actually now that I'm thinking about it maybe I will next time since it's been a long while LOL).

Can you get from downtown San Diego to Rosarito for around five bucks, yes you can: $2. 50 for blue line trolley to the border, 16 pesos taxi van to Madero, and 24 pesos taxi van to Rosarito. The Rosarito van pickup area is on Madero between 3rd and 4th. Are there a lot of stops? You bet your ass. But sometimes it's cool to go native and certainly the price is right. Best part is I've got a Tinder hottie waiting for me.

Whatever the reason is. Many of the services won't allow their escorts to go to the zona. Finding a centro hotel is one option as you are still within walking distance of the zone. You can also get a place in the zona rio. Many of them are very nice if not similar to nice American hotel rooms (Hilton Garden, Holiday Inn et al.) You can also get one of the places near the via rapida like Mansion and Motel Via.
The problem with that is you'll be a ways from the zona and will need to cab in and out which adds up in costs.
