I read this and cringed. Now maybe I am old school. In the world I grew up in cash was king and even to today it remains untraceable. I understand things are changing with young folk and their tech. There are also other philosophical reasons I prefer cash.

1. Does anyone else think paying your prostitutes by bank transfer is a good idea?

I use Thai bank transfers to pay girls more often than with cash. I do it because it is convenient for me, and I don't have to withdraw cash from the ATM as often. I have a second bank account that I use for these transfers, so my main account passbook doesn't have all of these small transactios.

I never transfer money to a prostitute from my USA bank account. It takes a real dumbshit to do that. Oh, and yes this is just my opinion NOT FACT. LOL.

I am aware there are new tax rules. My tax professionals are not providing the same advice as you have provided. Generalized tax information given from those who expertise lies in hiring prostitutes is not usually whom I seek out for knowledge in this area. There is more detailed and higher quality information that is being discussed about the issue in another thread.

Let it be noted that it is not the source of the funds that makes something a gift. It a particular type of payment. If what you said was true every prostitute could simply say all the money received from any client was a gift and avoid payment of taxes on it as income (up to the limit of receiving gifts). So the bargirl is sitting in front of the revenue agent and is explaining that each time she is bar fined it is simply to spend time with the individual and she does not receive any compensation for it only a gift of the amount of the clients choosing. I would love to be in the room in order to see the expression of the face of the revenue agent after hearing that. LOL!

I don't think you are aware of the new taxes rules that may require you to file a Thai tax return next year. Your tax basis includes any bank transfers from your home country to Thailand.

But it doesn't include transfers from your home country to bar girls, those are gifts, and excluded from tax.

So, if a lady stays with me long, long time, I pay by bank transfer from the USA.

So far this year, I have probably withdrawn no more than 50,000 baht from my Thai bank.

I don't think you are aware of the new taxes rules that may require you to file a Thai tax return next year. Your tax basis includes any bank transfers from your home country to Thailand.

But it doesn't include transfers from your home country to bar girls, those are gifts, and excluded from tax.

There used to be 2 King's Castles

Back in the late 90's when the Kings Group headed the bar groups in Patpong they had numerous bars all open at the same time. I recall Kings Castle 1,2,3 and Queens Castle 1,2 along with Kings Camelot, Kings Corner all of which were Go-Go or show formats with no cover charge. They also ran a Kings Palace (disco) and Kings Garden bar along with the Kings ST hotel.

Kangaroo Bar was an infamous BJ bar (along with Star of Light) in Patpong many years ago. I don't know exactly when it closed down, but it was certainly a popular and well known place back in the early 2000's.

Kangaroo Bar, Rose Bar and Mike's Bar (the true hidden gem of the three, down a short, narrow walkway next to Foodland Market on Patpong 2) were classic Patpong BJ Bars up until 8-9 years ago. Kangaroo Bar was probably the last one of the three to close. At least, I assume it is closed now. I never saw anyone outside or inside of Star of Light to inspire me to partake. But those other 3 would sometimes have more than acceptable cuties worth the time and money.

I've been to well over 10 different gogo bars multple times in Patpong and never once was I charged extra for my drink. Don't recall seeing a Kangaroo Bar in Patpong. How many years ago was this?

I remember my newbie self avoiding Patpong back in 2015 because it had a very bad reputation of rip off Ping Pong shows. Then I went to Black Pagoda gogo/lounge/disco bar in 2016 with maybe the best lineup of gogo bar girls I have seen to date and I was hooked. That bar was special back then. So different than anywhere else.

I heard that there are three kings castle now, 12 are the same basicly sharinv girls and stuff, but 3 is different.

Where are you getting this information? King's Castle 3 in Patpong closed at least 10 years ago.

Unless something has changed since Fall, 2022, KC1 and KC2 do not share girls. I've never seen a crossover in the past. Where are you getting this information?

He did mention draw backs like, half don't do LT, and it is like a thing that one have to go with. Idk, I think it might be worth visiting? At least to try? I prefer to do real things and hang out at Thermae in BKK. I leave the gogo bars to Pattaya. Be wary that a "tourist guide" may get a kick back for bringing you to a bar.

I was only there once, that was March 2023. I went into almost every bar and they generally gave me the feeling I was going to get scammed in one way or another.

Went in one massage shop where I negotiated price and service in the lobby with mamasan and the girl but in the room the girl insisted on more money. The disagreement was the price negotiated was for oil massage and the girl would only do Thai massage for agreed price. I walked out without paying, which upset both mama and the girl. I can only imagine problems that would happen for special services.

Went to a couple other nearby massage shops and they both seemed untrustworthy.

Where have you heard this recently? Curious cause I'd even sway from Thermae if it were good again. Used to be true around 2017. Possibly was the best bar in BKK for fun and girl selection combination, especially when they moved to their temporary location.

As for not being as pushy, that part is likely still true for all Patpong bars. No different than LK Metro is more laid back than most Walking Street gogo bars. Just avoid the ones that promote a ping pong show.
