I met this American doctor who works out of the leading hospital in BKK. I forgot the name of the hospital, but it is located near Nana Plaza. He said that this hospital carries the accreditation that all US hospitals do. They are building a medical tourism business where they attract foreigners to come over and have procedures done. He said that a bypass costs $9000USD versus $50K in the states.

The Dubai police department contracts this hospital to provide health care for its force. The cops come over for their annual check up and spend money shopping and mongering. And its still cheaper than healthcare in Dubai.

Actually, I can be of assistance. I am a travel agent. Travel Insurance would not cover the situation below unless it were an emergency and could not wait for a day or two for you to travel home. The insurance company has the option of repatriating you for the surgery. Their liability ends when you arrive to your home.

When an emergency arises, you must contact the insurance company and they determone what action you should take and what action they will take to minimise their exposure.

I cannot say for sure it would cover it. If you have an existing condition it would not. If you have an emergency it should cover it. Best to call and ask if it would cover your situation.
