Salvador is a extensive city and I believe that to visit Pelourinho is better to lodge in some hotel in the Barra district.When I visited Salvador in April, my hotel was in Patamares beach,very far of the Pelourinho area.

You definitely should consider staying in Barra. When I was there in 2002, I lived there for a month with a family, so while I can't specifically recommend any hotels, I know the area well. And once you figure out how the buses work, it's very easy and cheap to go anywhere you want to go - Pelourinho, or the beaches farther out. As reported here earlier in this thread, there are definitely GDPs working in Barra, too - I remember one place right next to the fort next to the Barra beach, which the girls called "Nicky's", apparently based on the name of the German expatriate owner. Right next to a cybercafe whose name I don't remember, unfortunately. Lots of girls hanging out there (and living right upstairs, so it seems). And if you don't find anything there, getting to Casquinha do Siri shouldn't be a big problem either. Everyone knows that place, so finding it shouldn't be a problem at all.

I remember the first time I went to Aeroclube. A girl (GDP) I had met in Pelourinho took me there to have dinner, and I went along. Took a public bus, and it was already pretty late already. It was quite a long ride from what I remember (and my memories are sketchy, because as soon as we got in the bus, the girl immediately started making out with me), but from what I could see as we were going through the different neighborhoods, there were girls waiting for johns on every fricking corner and in every single street. I was absolutely flabbergastered. Not that those were necessarily neighborhoods you would want to (or should!) go to look for girls, but the amount of talent available was absolutely mind-blowing. Honestly, I've never seen prostitution on such a grand scale as that time in Salvador da Bahia. Can't really believe that the situation has drastically changed in just a few years - if anything, the gap between the rich and poor has widened in Brazil, overall. And we're talking about the Nordeste here...

Aeroclube: insofar as the girls are concerned, like everywhere else in Salvador, it seems to me that it's a combination of regular non-working girls, non-pros, semi-pros, and harcore professionals. In other words, there are girls that are not working, and others that are working and whose involvement in the business varies (non-pros, semi-pros, and harcore professionals - still all GDPs). It's still worth to check it out, though, I'd say. Some nice bars, discos, and restaurants, or perhaps just go for the experience of seeing and experiencing a Brazilian mall (for what that's worth) and a glimpse into non-touristy Brazil.

Let me add a final note about pricing, since it just comes to mind: in 2002, I always offered 100 Reais for TLN, and never, EVER, had to negotiate with a girl at any time. Which makes me believe that that was definitely too much even then. Considering that the minimum wage in Brazil right now is 280 Reais per month, I think that paying anything more than 100 Reais would be just downright insane. And that should definitely include a GFE and cover the tourist tax".

Thought I'd chime in here - though my info is based on a one-month stay during the summer of 2002 (yes, World Cup time). Can't really imagine that a lot has changed, though.

The simple answer is: the girls are everywhere. Pelourinho is very small, and as they are walking around between the different bars and hot-spots, they can be pretty much found anywhere. Pick-up attemps by GDPs happened everywhere I went, whether sitting in an outdoor restaurant, listening to concerts, checking email at a cybercafe, having a drink somewhere, or just walking around the streets.

Here are a few good places that were popular in 2002. Please note that neither of these places is for GDPs, exclusively. So don't automatically assume every girl in those places is playing.

ESTAÇÃO DO PELÔ (where they had life music every day into the wee hours of the morning)
Rua João de Deus, 25 - Pelourinho
Opens Monday through Saturday 5 PM; Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays 3 PM. Live music (MPB) every day. No cover charge.

On the other side of the square from the Cravinho/Bar do Fundo do Cravinho bars, which are also good and fun to hang out in.

Walking from Cantina da Lua to ESTAÇÃO DO PELÔ shouldn't take longer than five minutes, if even. We're really talking about a small area here.

As you walk around, just follow the music - there's always so much going on in Pelourinho, especially on Tuesdays. And where there's a party, there will be girls - including GDPs. More likely than not, they will find you before you even get a chance to look for them.

I was this year a few times in Salvador because of a relation but this relation finished so I was looking for other "possibilities". In november I was three weeks in this city. In my opinion you do not need a hooker in Brasil if you are looking good. If you still want, or think you need, there are a few Night clubs where you can meet a girl and you can take her to your hotel or appartment or have sex in a special room. The sex is standard. There is one nightclub in Pelourinho. Walk from the main square direction to the big elevator and you pass one. There is also one in "Rua Carlos Gomez" named "Tche" Taxi's are everywhere waiting to bring you to your place with the girl. You find here (RCG) many transsexuals on the street as well if you like. I don't. There are two nightclubs, one also named "Tche" and the other "Free Nightclub" on the main road along the ocean. Prices R$ 50,- for one hour + taxi money if you take them to your Hotel back to the Nightclub. Much better in my opinion and what I did is GFE. Just go to the beach or "Aero clube" This is a mall with restaurants, cinema, live music and normal shops. There are hookers walking around and "normal"girls who are looking for a foreigner to join some days. You pay indirect for them, food and buy some cloths and even necessary things. I was with one very nice girl many days and I met her within 5 minutes and just asked if she was looking for company. I speak a little bit Portuguese and I think it is very boring if you don't speak anything because these girls speak no English. There is a huge unempoyment in Salvador and even if such a girl is working in a shop she makes only R$ 260,- per month. Not enough for the most simple appartment so you understand why many girls can need something extra. I treated her with respect and we had a wonderful time together. I bought some days for US 50,- and another day nothing. You have a much better time compared with a hooker. Problem I experienced is that the girl felt in Love with me and felt sorry about her behaviour. That she was asking for material things. She stopped with this but I understood about her life and gave her some money when I left. I didn't want to play a game with her that I was also in Love and don't pay anything more. I love Brasil and go living there. About criminality: Stay under the crowd and in the light and normally nothing will happen to you. There are many Italians in Salvador enjoying the lovely Brasilian woman and sometimes they do not have respect for the girl you are with (my experience). All the time looking to my girl even when she was sitting on my legs. They have the advantage of communication with the girls. Not so nice was the reaction of the locals, like jewelry sellers on the beach and other people like waiters to my girl (who is more then 20 years younger). They act like she was a prostitute (garota de programma) They sometimes shouted this to her and she was feeling this all the time because she was with a foreigner. With my girl-friend in the past, who is almost same age as me I never experienced. I felt sad for her about this.

I spent several days in Salvador last month. I had not planned on hitting that many garotas de programa while there, only a few, as i had come from Rio and my sperm tanks were bone dry. I also wanted to see a little culture and music while there- check out Olodum, the churches in Pelourinho, etc, etc. Unfortunately, when I arrived at the pousada I was staying at - I ran into a woman I know - she was also staying there. Small world, but no monger action for me in Salvador (was able to recharge the batteries and hit other cities with gusto however).

Despite not partaking in the action - this is what I observed. At night in Pelourinho there were lots of garotas available. About 80% were dark skinned Afro-Brazilians, the other 20% were lighter skinned mixed garotas. There were some real gems around, but the majority were below average looking with quite a bit of mileage on them.

In Barra, there were a fair number available as well - check out the beach before you get to the Barra lighthouse on Sete de Setembro during the day, and various bars near Av. Ocencia at night. Again mostly dark skinned Afro-Brazilians on the hunt.

For escort action, the brazilians working at the pousada all loved to check out the Salvador escort website - www.elitegirl.com.br. Lots of light skinned garotas, even a fair number of real blonds, there. But they all wanted R200-300 per hour. Was not able test them out. There were lots of Italians there, however, enjoying Salvador's finest.

Sorry for the late response but with all the adjustments I hadn't looked at the site quite that often.

Anyway, to answer your question ads in the newspaper are from pros and not normal girls. In a sense they are normal girls and not hardened professionals but you have to give the some money. If you invite them to go with you to an island for instance then you don't have to pay them but obviously pay for the rest.

I myself prefer Rio to Salvador because there are more Western European women there as compared to black women. Salvador has a lot of black girls but you also see mixes and they are really beautifull. Obviously there are white women there as well but not like Rio. The halfbloods are really hot and that you don't really see in Rio. On average more beautifull women in Rio then Salvador. 2 completely different worlds though.

Ok guys, Salvador remains a hot spot. Compared to 1998 Pelhourino at night lost a lot of action: cheap and ugly hookers attacking first time visitors. During day it's a good place to pick up a galinha (pirañas are eating everything, galinhas (chicken) only when they're hungry or need something). Just smile to any girl that you like, offer her a drink and probably she invites you to meet her that night at another place. Most of those galinhas don't want to be seen with tourists at Pelhourinho to preserve their reputation. Share a dinner with her or spend a day on the beach and if she likes you (she will, otherwise she wouldn't accompaign you) you can have a great time. I had a steaming morena for 3 days, she wanted to be screwed more than I could handle (thanks Siagra). The last day I went with her to Shopping Barra and bought her a complete outfit for less than 100U$. Afterwards, 3 hours before our departure, she insisted to have "poco sexo" with me. I asked her what she meant by "poco". She answered: "muito!".

If you're more in for "mulheres de programma", everynight has its own place: monday's at Casquina de Siri, wednesday at aeroclube, tuesday's at Pelhourino. Ask taxidrivers, they know where to go. If you can't find anything, go to one of the numerous night club, choose a girl before they choose you, get out to your appartment and have a fully professional fuck. Those girls do whatever you like, they're used to it.

I spent two nights with two girls I picked up at Aeroclube and Casquina the other night. You pay a 100 or 125 R$ a girl and although they didn't know eachother before, they made love with eachother as well.

I also went to the Brazil inland and sex becomes cheaper the further you're from the coastline. Lençois (near Chapada Diamantina natl. park is worth the visit) has one bordello. It's called "casa de 7 mulheres". You should ask a local, they'll tell you where it is (no signs outside). It's located in the street of the Hotel Tradicoã, a but further down. Nice girls you'll pay 40R$ !! and 20R$ for the room. You can fuck them as long as you like, as many times as you like. Other cities like Feira de Santana offer similar cheap places. That's it, can't wait to return to the capital of alegria, Salvador, o meu amor.

Salvador has all types of women but many have African or African American features. Speaking of Salvador, there has not beeen a post in this section in 4ever. I spend a great 24 hours in Salvador, leaving a rainny Rio to find some sun. Hotel Marazul close to the Barra Faro, very good, small pool but on the beach, perfect view, 180 Reals breakfast included.
Very close to a nice dive center (2 dives for 190 reals).

Looking for a girl, a taxi bring me to a place (I forgot the name) where was working 4 girls. When we arrived they were closing (at 8 pm!). But one of the girls was speaking english and was ok to join me. 60 reals to leave the place + 200 reals for the girl.

There are several inexpensive hotels in the Barra area between the lighthouse (Farol de Barra) and the Praca de Barra where Hotel Praiamar is. I have stayed at the Barra Turismo Hotel and found it to be very good for its price. It charged R70 a night or about $23.
