In regards to hotels I suggest 2 NOT to stay at.

The Bayview Park on Roxas is overpriced (especially booked online), very intrusive and unfriendly. Shame because it is close to everything.
The Swagman HOtel around the corner is a dump. The A/C whines like an old engine all night and the sound proofing from the noisy street is non existent. Cockroaches and ants were everywhere - i stayed 1 night and couldn't wait to get out.

The Lotus Garden hotel, not sure of the street name, is only a 5 minute walk from LA, Amazonia etc and clean, large rooms, good price with breakfast included and girl friendly. I also know the building is sound as it hardly shook during a tremor when I was there recently. My first, how scarey are they?

If the hotel reception staff at any large hotel think you are an inexperienced traveller they will tell you that the only rooms available are the superior rooms (most expensive) I found that if i told them that I would go next door to the next hotel, they would miraculously "find" a room that hadn't been available 2 minutes before.
