If you can not get an unlocked phone to used, I have read on this board you can buy a used cell phone in the stores near Musek. They will buy the phone back from you at a discount at the end of your trip. As for me, I bought a new phone from the T-mobile store in Flora 3 years ago. I have been using it ever since. It cost 2000 CZK and it came with a charger, local SIM card, and 300 CZK airtime credit. You must recharge the SIM card with more airtime at least once a year or the SIM card will be no good. The charge for air time is about 7.5 CZK per minute. Other providers might have cheaper rate but the SIM card is only good for 3 months if you don't recharge it. T-mobile works for me since I don't usually visit Prague within 3 months.

There is a shop on vodickova near (Václavské námìstí) from the square about 30 meters it is on the right side under the arches that sells second hand phone and all sorts of sim cards.

Bart, is your regular cellphone a GSM multiband? If so and if you can get it unlocked you should be able to buy a prepaid SIM card and use your old phone. I was able to unlock my GSM phone with the help of some Internet sites.

Please share your information on apartments-although I am sure there are downsides to them, it would be nice to not have the hassle from the hotel staff when bringing back girls.

Also, since you mention it, I wanted to ask about getting a mobile phone. I have not in my two trips to Prague been able to locate someone who sells inexpensive used phones with "pay as you go" sim cards (or whatever). Anyone who could share experience on this would be appreciated.

I am a regular in Prague I travel every 3 months or so for last 5 years:-) if you travel late at night best to have a cell Telephone and Call Radio Taxi AAA 2 33 33 11, or you can send City Taxis an text message werever you are in town 777 257 257, and belief me they drop you of for good rates:-)

There are also Night trams who run between midnight and 5 am when the Metro´s are not working:-)

On my early days in Prague I stayed in Hotel Quality this is in Prague 10 quite far from the Centre but this is possible the best 3 star Hotel in Prague with 2 very good bars and Restaurants:-)

For those who want to stay near K5 there are two 3 and 4 star hotels very close, Tosca Hotel witch is a 4 star Hotel, it´s less than minute walk from K5, you can even see from K5, It is on Blanická Street

There are a number of hotels is Centrum but hotels there are quite expensive, less you go for less than 3 stars, There is also the 3 star Hotel Salvator on Thrhlárska street near Námestí Republiky:-)

These days I much prefer to stay in Apartments, both you get lot better rates in high season, and you get rid of all the hassle if you want to book a girl for an Escort, overall I think more practical but each to their own:-) If somebody is interested for link of apartments, they can private message me or ask me advice on the forum:-)

In their own forum there are/were number of bad to worse reviews, frequently deleted by admin. My own posts are deleted as well. Also one guy complains there is only one girl working, as against their advertising.

To the extent of my knowledge, the entire city is pretty much safe (read back a few posts-we had a discussion about it recently). Generally speaking (from my personal experience, as well as what I have heard), although theft can be a problem, the Czech aren't real big with violence-their attitude is pretty much "fuck it" and "Live and Let Live".

You will probably want to be close to the center (centrum) for this reason. The metro's stop running at I think 1:00 AM. If you are out drunk and chasing ass (near the center is where most of the action is) and P4P, you have to either figure out how to work the trolley system (a little tough when you are drunk, cold, and tired). I have been forced a couple times to take an expensive taxi ride home in the middle of the night.

I'm pretty sure that I will do the Hotel Seifert next time I'm in Prague. It is one of the Ave travel hotels.

By the way, do not be fooled by hotel's advertising themselves as "only four metro stops from the center"-from the center, the lines run only 5-6 to the far sides of the city. Four stops can very well be "the sticks"

just my 2 cents

I think it is hard to find a girl who does not have a sort of pimp or at least at some time in here "career" had one. In the end the enforcment methods may be a bit different then in what most would concider a "normal" job. But if you tak a job and they pay the relocation I have found that most will require you to work for them for one year. Now if you get there and find out you could get a job for 300% of what they pay you. You can quit but then you must pay for your relocation. So the "rules" seem more or less normal and they are only protecting there investment. They are also in my mine opinion doing a big favor to the market by keeping the price from going through the roof. I think that there "collection or intimidation" methods maybe a bit "extream" but then again they negotiated there "job" with a "russian pimp" I think if she was naive before she is not now. I al still waiting for my chance at CHL but i will try them. I used to love Milas but like everywhere there are ups and downs and milas had droped out of the market it would seem.

It is true, that they keep a close watch on the girls. But the girls are not "forced" to work their. They usually sign a 1 year contract and the Agency makes sure that they keep it.

That would seem to fit. As far as "the Agency makes sure that they keep it," I wonder how that bit is carried out. A claim brought in a court of law? Call me skeptical. No doubt a girl goes in with her eyes open on what the work will entail, but I do not doubt that she may be unclear on what she could actually command for herself in that market.

Well, I watched some pics there. i think people would know, that someday they might become public. But thats not the point. By looking at some pics I realized that obviously in many cases there was something forgotten! So if these are not fake pics with models there is another reason to think twice or more to go there or maybe better not.
